So much hype for him... The hype is overrated IMO. 100% casual card for sure.

I think that we need to see the main set PW to have a final word since they probably have a similar function.

Still this one is very playable, the -3 is a win con in itself if you are playing a heavy artifact deck (like UR colossus), but I think the powerlevel is in the +1 for control decks since it will be a gearhulk tutor. 6 mana looks like a lot, but it's the point where you stabilize as a control player, to put him down (which at 6 loyalty is difficult to kill if you are doing your job) he will probablly tutor for 2 gearhulks for you, making you a lot closer to the winning

Perhaps they are saving his cat token abilities for the next set... I hope.
Ajani generating cat tokens never really made sense. He left his tribe on Naya, and was a pariah even when he was a part of it. Summoning an avatar token like on his first card is fine; that's his magic at work. But why and how would he be summoning his former pridemates when he hasn't had contact with them in years?

In any case, WotC is using Ajani as the "buff and support spells" 'walker. He's the team cleric. So all his abilities these days are going to be more about +1/+1 counters, gaining life, and helping other planeswalkers.

Yep, his now a mentor figure so he probably will not be making tokens so soon. But the cat tokens do make sense as they are not from his home. Ajani went to various planes and interact with others tribes and is respected by them (see Theros, he has a good relation with Brimaz and his kin, also they helped him and went to war for him).

Also, back in Alara he do have tribes that respect and idolize him. Ajani's Sunstriker is a example of it. Also we saw in one of the UR (now Magic Story, I think it has Kaalia's back story but not sure about it), that the main character do interact with a leonin that say that their tribe follow Ajani's Teachings and protect the land in his place when he is away

Hopefully his price tanks after prerelease where he doesn't appear in any topping decks. This card is bonkers in Superfriends - particularly Atraxa, Praetors' Voice.

What I'm really intrigued about is his involvement in Kaladesh. Ajani was last seen in Theros helping out Elspeth. Did he once again go seek out Nicol Bolas to continue being a thorn in his side?

    Nope.
Long story short, he's been hanging out with Tamiyo and Narset, who knew Elspeth at some point, too. He's on Kaladesh because of Tezzeret, who he found out about through Tamiyo.

All in all a good card, though I'm surprised at his relatively low starting loyalty. It's true his +2 can be a little inconsistent, but in all the decks I would use him in, that wouldn't be a problem. I quite like him for my modern boggles deck, and of course superfriends decks.

As a boogle player I dont think I ever got to 6 manas, but it is pretty sweet for superfriends EDH.

If I gain control of a creature until end of the turn, then use something to gain permanent control of it. At end of the turn will it continue under my control?

To add context, I use Reins of Power to gain control of the creatures of the sliver player, then use Sliver Overlord last ability on itself (and some other slivers). It will continue under my control after the end of the turn?

There is a choice ("you may") so you can just no let them become a copy.

But if you do, you will need to choose one and put the rest in the grave. Note that the legend rule do not make you sacrifice anything, you just put the cards into the graveyard (there are cards that interact with something being sacrificied, which is not the case with the legend rule)

Well, time again for an overview, though this will be a tad different due how these polls are shaping up.

    1. Well, 75% of the votes are positive. Nuff said.

2 & 3. I...I don't even know where to get started with Atraxa. Every other commander here has gotten some praise and some score. But Atraxa is overwhelmingly popular! She has literally has 1 vote (as of this reply) as liked the least while holding first place at the most liked commander with 21 votes!

That just boggles my mind with how much approval she has received. Outside of her abilities, it's got to be the flavor of her. It's the only other thing that I can reasonably think of.

It's a little late for a reply, but I will do anyway XD

Atraxa has a great flavor (Praetors are popular) and her keyword soup make her a powerful card by her own. But the thing that make most people like her is her potential as the commander. First is that she IS a superfriends commander, a strategy that people like (and she interacts directly with it), but even more she is a open commander (it's not like almost every Boros commander being a Agro one). You can do a Voltron, a infect based deck or just go for a +1/+1 counter strategy like the precon (also a common archetype). It's her potential in the right colors that make her a good card (red is nice, but normally the least favorite color in commander)

Now about the decks. I already explain why Atraxa is a homerun. Her deck is also the best to play out of the box (even tho most will get her and make totally diferent decks) since the strategy is well supported and defined.

Breya is not my thing, but she may become a popular competitive commander as she can go infinite pretty easy and the deck can have all the best tutors (black in general and blue artifact tutors). I do not like her out of the box since it's just a pile of artifacts (good ones but still) with not much sinergy other than being artifacts, the list will need a lot of changes.

K&T - well, I did not expected that grouphug would be so hated (I understand do not want to play with, but the level of hate is above that). They alone are not that powerful, but it's the thing of grouphug - do not be a threat - and with the support of the deck it will be a good commander. The deck is great out of the box since it has so much great cards (the ramp and taxing cards, also the will of Zedruu), but the strategy is a little out for most people.

Saskia - she is powerful, more than people are giving thinking, and the fact that she have white makes so it's east to change the target, but her may make you the table target since you need to be on the light about who is your enemy (so be careful). Still, boring commander is boring, she is one of the best agro commander but is too niche for me. Good out of the box, but not the best

Yidris - did I hear Storm? Yep, he can be the head of a amazing deck, or just a good stuff type of deck. He is powerful and the deck will probably be just a support for him. In my opinion the worst out of the box since there are not really a theme.

    Just to add.

2HG is a single round match, if it's a draw and there is still time you need to start another game. If time has already called then it's a draw period (and remember that 2HG is 3 turns after time instead of 5 of 1v1 games)

In the case it's a single-elimination round with time limit (in other words, a game that cannot end in a draw), if the time is over and no team won the team with the highest life total win the game. If they are tied the moment a team have less life than another that team loses the game.

if you run out of time/turns the game ends in a draw. if there is still time left in the round and you have not played your 3 games play on.

If there is time you always play another game, no matter how much games you have already played. In a 1v1 match if the third game (it's 1-1) ends in a draw you play another game until a player have 2 wins or the time is over.

Village Messenger (good agro) or Dragonmaster Outcast (good late game value) would be better than Vampire Cutthroat in the deck.

Also, I think you should put less vehicles, Fleetwheel Cruiser and Smuggler's Copter are enough (maybe 1-2 Sky Skiff as well) turn 3 you want to attack using the copter, so a 1 drop turn 3 to crew him is better, always use the guy that can not attack to crew.

Pia Nalaar (as said above) is really a great option to turn 3 since it can crew 2 vehicles.

White may be a better color to go with red in a vehicle deck, but it would be more to a long race (the man land and the dwarf legend), but I like BR because it's more agro and, if anything, murderbolt is amazing

Why add more if 2 cards are enough?

    Rules question

The amount of counters each target creature will receive is decided when the ability triggers or when it resolves? Also, if it's when it resolves can I choose zero?

I'm at 30 life and have Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim and another creature in the battlefield. My only untapped lands are 2 plains and 1 Caves of Koilos

Can Ayli's last ability be used in this case?

ps: I believe that you can because you already activated the ability when you need to pay the costs (and lose the life to the painland), but I want to be sure of the ruling in this case
