Lol with the new card Encroaching Mycosynth, wanted to make an old Mishra edh deck with Persistent Petitioners, and was just hoping there was a second way to make it work.

  • posted a message on In Search of Super type Trait Doctoring Card
Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any cards like Trait Doctoring and friends, that can change a reference to a super type, like 'all artifacts' to 'all creatures'.

  • posted a message on Does my opponent get to reselect target after the orginal target is removed?
No, they cannot reselect targets once their spell has chosen a target and is on the stack. By using cloudshift you effectively counter any spell that is targeting the creature you cloudshifted and their spell does nothing. This is only true if the spell targets, for example if I play Plaguecrafter, you would still have to sacrifice a creature or planewalker since it doesn't target a specific one. Also if their spell has multiple targets, as long as one of those is still targeted it still resolves the valid targets. For example, if I cast cryptic command, choosing to bounce your creature and counter your spell, and you cloudshift your creature, I still get to counter your spell, but your creature will not be bounced.

Ah thank you, I thought that might be the case but I was hoping it would be otherwise lol. Thanks for the answer though!

  • posted a message on Stacking effects and Death Triggers
Hello everyone, I had a question about how various triggers would resolve. If I have Pitiless Pontiff and I use its ability, sacrificing Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant, do I have to resolve Nevinyrral's ability first or can I choose how they go on the stack such that Pitiless Pontiff would become indestructible first?

Yeah it is pretty sweet, definitely one of the cards I am excited to get from the set.

Yes, if at any point mana would leave your mana pool it becomes that much colorless mana instead. So if you have GRB floating when you go to end your first main phase, you now have 3 colorless mana carried over to your combat steps. If you don't spend that colorless mana at any point it will carry over to your second main and so on. It will never leave your pool unless spent or the artifact is removed.

You can carry it over across turns with this artifact as well.

You would need to pay 2R and discard two lands. The discard X lands is an additional cost to playing the card, the x in the casting cost is still how much mana you would need to pay.

  • posted a message on Anje Falkenrath is a failure of design and one of my least favorite cards after playing with it
I'll be honest when I first saw her I thought: "nice! A cheap vampire for my vampire tribal deck that filters my dead land draws!". I would be lying if I said I didn't want to build the all madness combo deck with her now but honestly there is nothing wrong with building a cEDH deck vs a fun 75% deck or even a janky edh deck. Play what you want to play, she didn't immeditately inspire broken thoughts in my mind and I am sure that is the case with others as well. Sure her optimal build is brutal and linear and won't really deviate but so is both forms of Sisay, Derevi, Empyrial Tactician and many others. That doesn't stop their less optimal builds from being good or fun. I for one love my bird tribal deck with Derevi at the helm and it often takes down the whole table. That doesn't mean their designs are bad either.

  • posted a message on Momir Basic on arena having cards outside of standard?
I apologize if this is the wrong place to put this but I was playing momir basic on arena and I got a Griselbrand followed by a hovergaurd! Since when did other cards from outside standard enter the pool?

I think what upsets many of us "alt-right Nazis" is the double standards exhibited by WOTC and the MTG community. It's perfectly fine for an editor of MTG Salvation to publish an editorial implicitly calling for right-wingers to literally be burned alive in the streets, but any criticism of WOTC's heavy-handed far-leftism is labelled racism/trolling.

It's perfectly fine for Medieval-Europe-inspired planes to be populated with dark-skinned people, but no one questions why Amonkhet or Kamigawa are devoid of Caucasian natives.

It's perfectly fine for the WOTC community to complain about a picture of Garruk threatening to punch Liliana in the face, but no one questions when we have pictures of women like Massacre Girl standing over the bloodied bodies of her victims.

It's perfectly fine for Jeremy Hambly to be physically beaten and ejected from the community because he wrote some mean things about some people online, but no one questions why the MTG community harassed and doxxed Terese Nielsen online due to her not following the same childish SJWism as the rest of the community.

And before the tendentious mods of this website label this post as hate speech/racism/flaming/trolling, bear in mind that, since you care so much about increasing the presence of brown people in the game, I am a brown-skinned Indian, and my message is this: If diversity is so important to you, then perhaps you should allow diversity of thought. And if you wish to keep politics out of MTG, then perhaps you shouldn't try to sneak it in.

I don't think this is the argument though.

I am arguing that one should not get upset there is representation of one race or another. If you want to say Amonkhet had no white people that is fair, it didnt have really any apart from the planeswalkers, which i think is fine repsentation. But for every set that has few white people you can find a handful or more that are a majority white or all white. But again not really the point.

The issue started because they said the source material does not have people of color and this apparently was upsetting. I pointed out in fact the source material does have people of color in the likes of the knights of the round table. Yes the left is not without fault, yes people are hyprocrites. Regardless of any of that, no one should be upset if a set has a person of any race or identity. Period.

lifegain wise it is super slow but it does feed into food strats as well. Not sure how good that'll end up being but it is something.

That equipment is nice! A nice way to repeatedly get food and give a small bonus when blocked. Though the flavor (pun intended) is a little unsettling that it turns any thing it hits into food for your army O_o

actually id prefer to stick to the source material if you "steal" it. its not wotc world.

and there are no "people of color" in grimms. i hate that in your face sjw bull*****. maybe rewrite european history completely to be pc?

It is not just Grimms world though. There are clearly Knights of the round table references in here and that story does have non-white people. Also as much as it is influenced by grimm's fairy tales. This is not just grimm's tales stuck to cards. They are references. The world of Eldraine is wotc, they can do with it what they want. I still don't know why a female army and a Queen of color are so insulting/upsetting.

It's only political if you read it to be. I personally see no political statement from these cards. I don't see anything that takes me out of the world, from what I can tell they are still fantasy based and on theme.
