I was thinking about radiant flames for that MU. Honestly the Thalia tax can even help us out a little.

Is anyone else having a challenging time winning the 5C humans MU? I might honestly be 0-x in games played against the deck at my LGS. I'm still pretty new to Death's Shadow so it might be that trying to take the control route might be wrong. They seem to be able to both go wide and large with Champion of the Parish and Thalia's Lieutenant (we're not even going to talk about 3/3 Mirran Crusaders)

I'm on Chris Anderson's List from late October.

I haven't considered Bauble in my list. I had thought about Jamming some mix of LotV and LtLH in place of Simic Charm and the 2 Rancor. Rancor is cute and gets quite the response when I stick one on a Tasigur, Tarmogoyf or Death's Shadow.

New to this deck and thread. I've been on a break but was playing classic Jund Midrange until my break just before the release of BFZ.

Anyways, I love the play style of the BUx builds and splashing green for Traverse feels like it adds some consistency. I'm still tying to learn the deck but as of now I've just been working with the following:

BUG Shadow v2: Traverse, Goyf, Rancor, Decay

I've been having a hard time with the Bant or 4 Color Humans decks that float around my LGS. I was hoping that the 2 Flaying Tendrils would be enough but the Mayor and Thalia's Leutenant effects just seem to push their creatures out of sweeper range and the deck goes a little too wide for the targeted removal that I have access to.

Is the Humans deck enough of a thing that I should worry about it outside of my LGS? We have at least 3 players in a pool of a little more than 16 that bring it to FNM.

@SpawnofHastur I was wondering about the sheltered thickets also. Doesn't cinder glade do an excellent imitation of taiga in Titanshift lists? I would think that cutting down on the number of basic mountains would also make your cinder glades into sheltered thickets more often.

I'm a little confused with the move to Tier 1. Is MTG Salvation consolidating the threads for Valakut/Titan Breach and RG Titanshift?

I saw a list that 5-0'd on MTGO running 2 Coursers on the spot we usually run 2 Farseek.
I never considered using the Farseek as a flex slot for the Courser. Has anyone else tested this?

    Nookularboy,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm sure that I've only 'won'2 or 3 games of paper magic when I counted false valakut triggers. This includes play-testing wins. Thanks for saving me before I tried this during Comp REL.

Putriss, that is my understanding as well. The valakut triggers on mountain ETB but it doesn't check the mountain count until resolution. You just don't let the triggers resolve until you have increased your mountain count to 6+.

Darktutor, you're correct that my intention was to type stacking instead of attacking. (iPhone auto-correct)

    *edit*
I'm an idiot and didn't read Putriss's ruling closely enough. I'm blaming it on the lack of coffee.

I couldn't agree with nookularboy more. Expedition opens a ton of options.

Nothing feels better than attacking your landfall above the valakut trigger to get the third counter on expedition and push yourself to six mountains before the first valakut triggers resolve. Except using one expedition to get your 3rd counter on another under the same scenario...

The Courser also plays very interestingly with Explore. I know that this only opens very small angles but access to the top of the deck reduces those feel bad moments from a bad explore.

The problem I have with Inferno Titan is that we have no way to search it, so playing just 1 is not really enough and we don't have sideboard space to play more than that.
I don't know if I agree with your logic. Inferno Titan is just intended to increase your threat density not be a solo 'let's win the game with this' card.

Attikus whats the inferno titan in the sideboard for? I bought one a bit ago cause I was thinking it could be cool but I just cant seem to find a spot for it, what do you bring it in for?
I bring him in as an extra threat. If you're expecting your Valakut's to get removed or blanked with a Blood Moon. Baloth is good but not always a strong enough closer.

    Restore Balance

Holy hell, this deck. So I can offer some advice here. I play against this deck often, and the player is pretty good (he hit top 8 of an SCG Classic one time with it).

So in Red, there are like no answers. In green, there is Tajuru Preserver. Their deck has ways of dealing with creatures, but if you want to stay in RG then that's your option. I never tested Splended Rec against it, but it doesn't feels clunky in the MU and could require you to get back up to 4 lands after an Armageddon.

Tips for the matchup: Your enchantments carry a lot of weight in these games (KHE and Omen) as they don't get wiped. You can "store" lands in KHE and pop it after, but be careful to only crack fetchlands if you absolutely need the mana as you'll likely churn through every land in your deck.
Thanks for the tips Tajuru Preserver is some interesting tech.

I haven't played this MU yet but as we working looking at pairings last week I pondered the MU and realized that I didn't have a gameplan.

What would you bring to the Restore Balance or 8 Rack MU if you didn't have access to Chalice?

There are a couple of players in my local meta on these decks.

8Rack is easy, 3 Baloth and 1 Huntmaster (or Pulse of Murasa) + K Grip, Grudge, Sage and Explosives.
Restore Balance idk to be honest, never played that deck. I asume if it's a popular deck and you HAVE to deal with them you can try playing some number of Splendid Reclamation.

EDIT: Against 8rack (if it's something that really scares you and you have to play everytime) you can try the EDM land card that gives you the option to put cards that would be discarded on top of your library.
I never thought about Splendid Reclamation. Hopefully the loss of probe will result in a downturn in infect and I open a few SB slots.
