Innistrad has always been about 5 tribes + angels & demons. This is the past. If speaking of 90's sets mentality is the main angle to criticize this set, I'd say Wizards did a good job.
It's a clear upgrade over Tajic, it can fit in Zoo decks, maybe Humans beyond Standard. Grim Lavamancer makes me lie a little bit, but overall Rem looks much more viable.
The tribe (Baby Sorin approach) lacks a good 2-drop in older formats, but as always, vampires are as a whole not synergistic enough. They manage to screw up synergies within a single set this time. Next Level ***** !
One big issue with the tribe is the lack of evasion (Humans know the drill too, that's why Mantis Rider has always been the go-to 3-drop). A cheap flyer or a lord that provides evasion is what the archetype wants in order to par with the other tribal decks. Otherwise you must rely on stand-alone good creatures, and I'm afraid vampires are short on them.
Now W&S for the full set.
With the "once per turn" restriction, you guys witness a value card, not a combo card. I don't understand the complaining here.
Considering the clue / treasure / food interactions we have now, it's only precautious not to make deckbuilding too easy for players. It makes for more incremental advantages in games, but I suppose it will forever annoy midrange metagame haters.
Until the graveyard itself can't be targeted cards like this tend to not do much.
You are not familiar with certain formats (Modern and Legacy in mind). Many competitive decks need to target cards in graveyards to even function G1.
@fan of fanservice Sorcerer's Wand and Shadowspear are other equipments you can find with Urza's Saga if you play Modern.
Maybe a GW version of such a deck can appear in Tier 3 status in Modern. The Colossus Hammer deck seems better overall.
Seeing the name "fiddlebender", I would've guessed a bard who plays the violin in a tavern with modular constructs dancing and drinking oil around him !
I'm definitely a mtg player.
Can it be a plan B (game 1) for Amulet Titan ? I see "tapped", I see big mana cost, in a deck that ramps back and forth with Guru lands, already plays blue (Tolaria West and co), in some games it's hard to find a Titan and this can be found off Ancient Stirrings and other cards... Just throwin this on the table.
Miscast might be an issue if you ask me, more than any 2-mv counterspell.
delver is now playable in Pioneer though, yipee !
