A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

I am coming back from a 3 years break of magic (was busy with military training) and now I woul dlike to come back to the game. I don't have the money atm to buy a lot of pack in order to be able to come back in standard (last time I've play Mirrodin besiege just came out)

So I would like to join the modern game. I had a lot of fun with my infect deck I had back in the day and I was wondering if Infect was still playable in modern or if the new card that came out made infect obsolete? did modern ban most of the infect card making infect unplayable?

    I have 2 infect deck:

Green/Black: Put small infect creature (Ichorclaw Myr and Necropede, Cystbearer, Hand of preator, Phyrexian Crusader, Plague stinger, Putrefax...and boost them with spell like Vines of Vastwood. Then black offer creature control with spell like Grasp of Darkness, Virulent Wound. Then got Garruk Wildspeaker for mana acceleration and for +3/+3 trample boost and Mimic vat, to bring back putrefax for 3 mana every turn.

Blue/Black:I keep the black pretty much the same, and change all the green for a different take on infect. Inexorable tide, as my finisher, Distortion strike for assuring my opponent got some poison counter (for inexorable tide), Jace Beleren for some card advantage, Vedalken Anatomist and mana leak for more control. This version is more about control but still on the aggro side, drop my creature, attack when I can hit the opponent and buy some time for inexorable tide and just laught at him while I cast spell and look at the poison token proliferate.

I heard Infect was not being played in modern.
    Why infect isn't played anymore?

If no one else is playing them they won't have the anti infect card in there sidedeck anymore (like Melira, Sylvok Outcast and Melira's Keepers)

My deck can be aggro and control

If no one else is playing infect I could also play with those infect creature that give me poison counter, the draw back isn't as huge as it was back when other infect creature proliferated.

Just curious, to know why infect isn't play, maybe I could find a way to counter those reason and succeed with my infect deck. Specially if no one else playing it, the card will be cheap and I'll be able to buy some for cheap^^

    Thank you
