Still tweaking the Baltimore Deck...As much as I appreciate Daniel Ward's deck I have to go with my own that's been pretty effective over the last few weeks here locally.
Just pray you don't see any glistener elfs! Spellskite answers infect and twin (and burn and abrupt decays and is a creature for Lilliana). I think you should roll with spellskite but let us know how you do! Good luck!
Tmiller: I'm a little surprised you bring in leyline against zoo, is it just for bolts and helix? I imagine they might side a number of those out, and I don't see them being that big of a deal anyway. I could see leyline coming after turn 1 and hurting you a lot more than it would have helped had you drawn it in your opener.
I'm also a litte surprised by the fact that ethereal armor would ever get sided out - it seems like that is one of your critical pieces in the deck and against Abzan I'd rather cut one of the suppression fields due to the fact that having seven answers to Lilliana in addition to the main board outs of dryad arbor/second bogle/spirit dancer/ etc. may be excessive.
Thank you for your input. Zoo is one of those match ups where I'm just not sure, so my though process went to stop the burn with leyline...but this is one of those decks where I don't want to see it other than my opening hand. Path is really our go to card and the life gain.
As for Abzan, I agree ethereal probably isn't the best card to dump..
Thankfully I have some time to keep tweaking, as well as get some advice from other players
Against zoo I don't sideboard anything other than a Spirit Link. The matchup is heavily in bogles favor already. I would leave in the spider umbras because totem armor gives free chump blocks and it buffs.
I threw a budget version of this deck together on MTGO just to see how it played as I'm considering building the full thing in paper. I run 3 Mana Tithe main and a Guttural Response in the side (if it comes in I take out a Tithe) and I've found the counters pretty clutch.
Also, why don't people run dorks? I don't think it would slow us down too much as it lets us do more with our following turns. Is it just because they turn on our opponent's removal?
We don't run mana dorks because every card that's not a hexproof creature or an enchantment hurts the power/theme of this deck. Mana Tithe's are a good budget option especially with the meta right now. Gutteral response isn't needed as much now that treasure cruise is banned. If you can splurge for a choke that's a much better option.
I love the Spellskite main, it helps many of bogles' weaknesses. I'm not sold on 3x unflinching courage either, even with all the burn lately. I would rather have 3x keen sense in this meta.
Kataki, War's Wage is just nasty vs affinity and I would run it instead of stony silence all day every day. I also don't like gaddock teeg in my sideboard, I've always found I wanted other cards instead...
Has anyone else thought of dropping Rancor from mainboard? I feel like it doesn't win games. I might try using Keen Sense and Heliods Pilgrim main to increase chances at daybreak which is really the card that wins games.
That's really a bizarre comment. I don't think anyone else has ever thought of dropping Rancor. How many games have you played with the deck?
I've probably played 500+ games with it, its my primary modern deck and I play with it every Saturday night. I just cant remember the last time Rancor "comes back to hand" effect was relevant, or when I needed trample to win - typically spirit mantle or path to exile clears the way or else they're forced to chump block a creature with daybreak coronet. I find myself always needing that ONE aura to win or stabilize. I figure by drawing extra cards early with keen sense and using 2x mainboard heliods pilgrim, I increase my chances at getting that ethereal armor, spirit mantle, or daybreak I need to either turn the game in my favor or win the game. Even against affinity I'm always hoping to get a spider umbra to stabilize. Anyway, I'm gonna roll with this and see how it plays out this weekend.

Hi all, I've been playing Bogles for a while now and want to switch up to zoo with no goyfs. I like the idea of small zoo the best utilizing Experiment One and burning tree emissary. This is what I have so far...can you help me out?
I think overall this banning hurts more than helps. Delver was a great matchup and by far the most popular. Now Pod is gone which helps, but we'll see a lot more Junk, Twin, and Affinity. This is probably going to be my deck now after the bans.
Sage's Reverie is definitely going in my Sigarda EDH deck but not my modern bogles. It's just too expensive at four mana when you could draw cards along the way with keen sense - and I don't even play keen sense in my 75.
The only four drop I would even consider would be one copy of Worship like a recent mtgo top 8 deck had.
Just thought up a 5 color deck I'll try this weekend. Just tries to maximize efficient 1CMC enchantments that have some built-in evasion with assault strobe for consistent T3 or T4 wins. I think Bogles is the perfect deck to utilize Gemstone Mine and Forbidden Orchard creating colorless tokens doesnt matter with Predator's Gambit and/or Aqueous Form (plus Rancor and Deviant Glee have Trample). It will lose all day to Infect and Jund, but lets face it, so does the GW version and those decks aren't very big right now. I think it would still crush Delver/Burn but gives a slightly better matchup vs Combo and Affinity by outracing it. Any feedback would be great, and I'm thinking about replacing Aqueous Form with Boros Charm mainboard - thoughts?
hi guys, next week i'll go to the GP Milan...what list would you bring? i think there will be a lot of ur delver and scapeshift, very few tron, and some BG...
1) it gives target to the bolts/forked bolt/vapor snag/spell snare of UR burn;
2) it is very slow, you should play it at least on turn 3 so you can cycle an aura
3) if i have an hand with only kor as creature and not drop at CMC 1 (slippery or scout), i'll take mulligan anyway, so it doesnt count as "creature that if you have this in your hand you won't take mulligan"..the real creatures in this deck are 8..NOT 11/12)
..using that slot for adding path to exile , so to have a little chance against infect or twin on G1....thoughts?
Agreed. I actually want to try Burrenton Forge Tender instead of Kor Spiritdancer with this meta. Kor just seems like a win-more card when you would have already won the game.
why is orzhov charm huge against infect, pod, twin, even affinity? i see that orzhov charm could help against discards and sacrifices on our creature, but you are cutting 8 umbras that are good vs wrath effects...and in this meta T1 thoughseize or Liliana deck are much less played than before...now the meta is UR delver and Scapeshift (or at least in italy, and i think it will be so in GP Milan in december), so i think the gameplan is to gain more life possible really fast..and splashing for the 3 color could not be the best idea :/
edit : ok, got it, orzhov charm take also the slot og PtE against infect, twin and affinity
Right. Can take the place of PTE, while also protecting us from wrath effects and helping vs thoughtseize/Lilliana. While not as explosive as Boros Charm, I think it's a little more well rounded for what bogles needs. I'm going to try it out this weekend and I'll post results.
