Great suggestions. Wish I read them earlier because I just got impulse from my local shop. I'll try impulse for a while but maybe move to accumulated knowledge over time.

    Thanks xyx,

I have 3 FoF already for CA. Would adding gush to the deck work you think? On top of FoF?

I would prefer to run a instant, hence I am testing impulse in ponders place for now. But FoF is the only CA I have. Not sure if it's enough in this kind of deck...

Thank-you. I am starting to think Impulse would be good in place of Ponder? It's an instant which is better for the draw-go style, played EOT. Can be used on the Scepter to select and draw cards. But before I have the Scepter, it can be used to find the Scepter!

    Thoughts?

Hey guys. This is the deck I am running. It has been killing it in my meta, I just play against a bunch of friends who all have 15ish decks, lol. It goes really well in 2 vs 2 games. I want to replace 4 Ponder with something that gives Card Advantage.

Accumulated Knowledge is one thought of. It could combo with Isochron Scepter, or even Fact or Fiction (placing some in the graveyard)

What do you guys think? Is Accumulated Knowledge good? Does it often create serious CA in decks like this?

Would Standstill work in a deck like this? Or would it likely work against me?

    Gush ?

Any other suggestions? What is the best choice in a deck like this? Any other suggestions on the deck in general?

    21 Islands
    2 Reliquiry Tower

    1 Wurmcoil
    2 Aetherling

    4 Counterspell
    4 Memory Lapse
    2 Spell Pierce
    2 Mana Leak
    2 Mental Misstep

    4 Snap

4 Ponder <--- Want to replace
    3 Fact or Fiction

    2 Ratchet Bomb
    4 Propaganda
    3 Isochron Scepter

I am trying to create a NinjaFaeStill deck for 2HG games. What would me and my ally love more than drawing 6 cards? I am combining that with some tempo elements. Do people think this would work? What are some other suggestions?

    19 Island

    // Creatures
    4 Ornithopter
    4 Mistblade Shinobi
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
    4 Spellstutter Sprite
    4 Cloud of Faeries
    4 Zephyr Sprite

    // Spells
    4 Counterspell
    4 Memory Lapse
    4 Standstill
    5 Something????

Other options I own include Vapor Snag, Snap, Mental Misstep, Spell pierce, Ponder, Brainstorm, and so on. Wondering if this could work with Delver.

Massive bump. Would this kind of deck still work?

Got to thinking: I could drop the 4 Delver, add a Wurmcoil Engine (I have a single copy from another deck), then probably add 2 Islands and another spell.

Otherwise I could go more into Delver, removing the Whelks and adding 4 Augur of Bolas. Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks.

    This deck has multiple plans.

    1. Drop a delver T1 for an aggro start and control from there.

    2. If I don't have one early, use a Delver as a decent 3/2 beater mid-game. At 1 mana, it's so easy to cast this without worrying whether I can still counter.

    3. Drop a big Whelk later in the game. As I play a lot of two-headed there should be a high chance to counter something with high CMC.

    4. Use a Legacy's Allure to pinch something or to deter them from playing a threat.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? Can delver be slotted in to a more traditional control build like this? Or should I replace it for more control and more traditional beaters?

    3 Isochron Sceptre
    2 Legacy's Allure

  • posted a message on Primer Decks: Mono Blue Control / draw-go / MUC
I can't really see a "primer" on the first page. Can people give me some help with my list? I think I have a decent "shell", but it is built as casual delver. I can control the game quite well. They struggle to deal with my Delver's. Obviously this list is more Blueggro. But I think the shell is there for a more controlling game. Any suggestions? I don't really know if running 4 ponder + 4 BS is desirable. If I have the number/balance of counters, card quality, card draw, cantrips correct.

I am a little concerned running Ponder/Brainstorm/FoF/Gitaxian all together. Too much CA/CQ and not enough control?

    18 Island
1 Evolving Wilds (all I have, shuffle effect)

    4 Counterspell
    4 Mana Leak
    4 Negate

    4 Ponder
    4 Brainstorm
    4 Gitaxian Probe
    3 Fact or Fiction

    4 Snap
    1 Repeal

    4 Delver of Secrets
    4 Augur of Bolas
    1 Wurmcoil Engine

    Bump.

An alternative creature suite would be great. I think the instants and sorceries work great together. But the deck would play very differently but just as effectively with an entirely different creature suite. If there were 3-4 creature cards that had a tonne of synergy, meddled with the opponent and helped with card draw, that would be sweet!

    Hey guys,

I have made this deck for 2HG games with excellent advice from forum members. I wanted to base the deck off Talrand. That was my starting point. It runs nicely. I want to use it in 1v1 games too. Any suggestions for optimising it, or changes you would make? Perhaps 1-2 more counters? Less draw/selection cards?

I like the BS/Ponder/Gitaxian/FoF package. What about alternative creature bases? I like to change my decks up now and then. Thanks!

    Creatures: 11
    3 Talrand, Sky Summoner
    4 Delver of Secrets
    4 Augur of Bolas

    Instants/Sorceries: 29
    4 Counterspell
    4 Mana leak
    1 Condescend

    4 Gitaxian Probe
    4 Brainstorm
    4 Ponder
    2 Fact or Fiction

    4 Snap
    1 Repeal
    1 Aetherise

    Lands: 20
    19 Island
    1 Evolving Wilds

Wilds isn't a joke. you have 4 Ponders and 4 BSes all of which can yield cards that you'll want to keep and others that you'll want to ditch. The other cards seems fine, except for Think Twice maybe, but it's probably not a big deal one way or another.

Awesome! Thanks man. Running it as it is now is working really well. Looking forward to trying it out in a proper two-headed soon. I'm considering other useful/situational "1-ofs" to test out in the deck. If you have any thoughts on that let me know. If a 4-of or 3-of or whatever comes to mind to replace the situationals 1s, be sure to let me know! Thanks again!

Those 12 are fine together yeah. Repeal and Snap are both fine. If you had any good low CMC counters you could try those as well but having some bounce is usually advisable.

EDIT: I have play-tested the list for a number of hours against various decks and made quite a few changes. I reduced the mana significantly (to 20). Boosted Ponder/BS to 4 each. Added some singles (as I see so much of my deck!). The singles fulfil similar functions as others cards in the deck, with slight variations. Counters or bounce with scry or cantripping effects. If I come across one via Ponder/BS and the situation is right I can keep it. Otherwise I can get rid of it no problem.

1 Think Twice - CA and interaction with Talrand.
    1 Repeal - Bounce/Cantrip.
    1 Condescend - Scry.
1 Ratchet Bomb - for tokens.
    1 Evolving Wilds .... piss-poor shuffle effect. I only own 1.

Thanks for all your help. I appreciate any final thoughts/suggestions you have. I realise evolving wilds is probably a joke. But I want something to shuffle so I can get rid of 2 unwanted cards with Brainstorm. I might look into a cheap fetchland or shuffle effect.
