Has anyone ever tried splashing white for sideboard stuff, like Blessed Alliance, Ghostly Prison and such?
Yes.
Here is my list. I've gone mostly 3-1 at most weekly grinders. As of lately, I've been losing to just unlucky draws.
I won a modern 1k with this list, but for the GPTs as of lately, it hasn't done that well. I think its more because my meta knows I play the deck. So I'll be swapping off it for a while.
Hey, I have played this deck for a while before taking a break to change to other decks.
I am curious as to why everyone like playing with Oath of Nissa now? To me, I am not sure what its really good for. I guess just for some small amount of card selection?
It's a green ponder, and since it's basically a creature land deck, it gets you most things you want. I'll be honest, I don't like it. I've tested it a bunch of times and when it goes past anger or bolt, it's sorta sad.
Okay. I've been rocking the deck since Scott Lipp top8 at his GP with this deck. So I've played it for a long time. I've won multiple local GPT's competitions, local grinders and side events at GP's with it too. I stayed traditional to the Scott Lipp Summoning Trap / Chalice Mainboard plan for a while, because it hoses a lot of decks like infect, burn, etc. But during the splinter twin era, it was a bad deck.
The original purpose of the deck, quoted from scott lipp himself on his version, was that it was created to hose Treasure Cruise Delver. Hence the mb chalice and traps. It also played cat and mouse with twin as well.
But when Modern became popular, the deck fell in less favor.. Because of decks like GR Tron had a recent surge. Because of Tron, decks like affinity and infect became more popular to counter. Then Eldrazi winter came, and it pushed the deck over since aggro is not a good thing for the deck. Especially with unfair mana bases. (During that time Wide Creature decks became in favor. Such as abzan coco (uninteractive combo/chump blockers), merfolk (Spreading seas), and elves were strong at Melbourne GP in Australia - Famous for the winter. 7 of 8 decks in top 8 were eldrazi)
So of course, everyone was packing their mb ghost quarters. So i stupidly played Tron that weekend and ewnt 5-0 having versed no eldrazi, until round 6. Then lost the rest of the day.
Anyways.. Back to my point. Now that Nahiri Jeskai is back. Counter spell's are back! Also Eldrazi Winter is gone, and GR Tron (According to Modern Nexus) is now tier 2! So no one is packing a lot of mainboard land hate!
Also most times Jeskai Nahiri taps out at 4 for Nahiri. They can "try" to counter ur creature spells, but they will learn their lesson from summoning trap. Also chalice main, will disrupt their serum visions and paths and bolts hardcore.
lot of mainboard hate to annoy most decks. So here is my official list, I've been rocking with GREAT success.

Hey guys, just wanted to give a quick report of my deck list with Omnath. Played in a local modern tournament with four rounds. My meta has a lot of aggro and combo decks.
what about dramatic entrance with 4 primeval titan and 3 worldspine wurm? wurm is not a bad target for summoning trap either.
Through the Breach is better with Worldspire wurm.
He gets haste, he gets sacked, you get 3x5/5 tramplers that turn. lolololol
I smashed out the side event, and went 4-0 without a match loss. I think the match ups were unfair though: JUND, JUND, ELVES, GRIXIS.
I was playing Scott Lipps old GP List:
I always liked the ricardo van den bogaard list with just a couple of changes. i might add some scapeshift though. my last 6 modern outings have been nothing but tron, jund, grixis, and the like. i see almost no aggro or combo and have been having a hard time playing aggro and combo myself. i find the meta game to be healthy but kinda boring too.
Yes, I might tweak to try ricardo's list. I like 4 summoning traps more than dramatic entrance.
Because the list is called "makeshift" for a reason.
makeshift
adjective
1.
acting as an interim and temporary measure.
"arranging a row of chairs to form a makeshift bed"
synonyms: temporary, make-do, provisional, stopgap, standby, rough and ready, substitute, emergency, improvised, ad hoc, impromptu, extemporary, extempore, thrown together, cobbled together;
noun
1.
a temporary substitute or device.
and yes, thats how the deck plays. everything is temporary. the breach creatures, steve, far seek. etc. I dont like dramatic entrance, because it doesn't help big daddy o.
Also NOTE: I realised from playing on Forge, that summoning trap only works after the spell has been resolved.
I used to do this:
cast steve, in response they remand, in response I summoning trap. What I didn't realise was that you need to let remand resolve first.
so for example, u cast steve, and they remand it. let it resolve. then they might bolt u with the last steamvents left. Then say before EOT ill trap. Making sure that u cast it at the complete last moment.
Since the card reads : "if a creature spell u cast has been countered by opp etc.. this turn." I always thought it ment I had to cast it then and there.
Oh boy, ive been hit with dispel so many times its a sad panda.
I've been playing this deck the past few months with great success.
My first real competitive go with this deck again was at the WCMQ in California Santa Clara hosted by CFB back in Sept. Day 2, Modern Side event (I wasn't allowed to compete in the main modern event due to not being American residency).
I smashed out the side event, and went 4-0 without a match loss. I think the match ups were unfair though: JUND, JUND, ELVES, GRIXIS.
I mean his deck was tuned for the Treasure Cruise Delver Meta. Not the Grixis K Command era like we are in now, but I'll be honest, I don't have much twin problems at my LGS.
5 cards dedicated to twin in SB is pretty harsh.
Anyways, I've been watching the results on MTGO through Goldfish, and I've been seeing more and more people up the Slaughter Games. Since combo decks are more popular now.
I'm really loving the deck, and will continue to push hard with it. I might even push chalice to 2, and summoning trap to 3 or 4. I heard it feels even more dirty.
I really like that GB list too. Might even go to that list after rotation. IMO i would swap out 2 shaman and put back in 2 scooze and one rec sage in main. Trust me, sometimes those cards save u big time.
I think I agree with you, but the 5 life can help sometimes. Especially against burn. Because killing the thrag will result in another creature again to deal with. Not sure I guess.
I might side him out for now. and run with more hate like boil
Your meta is slightly slower i guess. My meta is full of variations of twin decks too. Normally you can outrace twin decks fine. In regards to twin, all you need is 2 chokes in SB. normally messes with their heads.
Am I the only one ballsy enough to play banefire in main?
What are people's thoughts on thragtusk in main? I saw the Charlotte list running him in main, but I'm only running 18 lands in my deck. Not sure about it.
Yes.

Long time lurker. First time poster.
Here is my deck idea focused around Knollspine Invocation.
It currently sits in a skred shell, but I'm interested in a BR version as well.
Tell me your thoughts. Trying to get it competitive :).
MDN: Red Return
Main:
2 Avacyn's Judgment
4 Blood Moon
4 Braid of Fire
2 Burn from Within
4 Ensnaring Bridge
4 Knollspine Invocation
2 Koth of the Hammer
3 Shard Phoenix
4 Skred
19 Snow-Covered Mountain
4 Squee, Goblin Nabob
4 Fiery Temper
4 Scrying Sheets
The combo here is braid and knollspine invocation. Along with Squee.
Through the Breach is better with Worldspire wurm.
He gets haste, he gets sacked, you get 3x5/5 tramplers that turn. lolololol

Mind writing up a SB plan for the usual matchups in Modern?
I never know what to side in and out, and ur decklist sounds awesome.
