I like that alot (kaalia, zenith seeker)
You lose blue but I'm not opposed to that at all. It digs hard it's cheep and can be abused. I like that it finds archfiend of ifnir pretty fast. The loss of blue loses me cloud of faries and architects of will
As well as transmute.
With the latest set of modern they released some more cycling support mainly astral drift and tectonic Reformation right now the best I can come up with is breya, etherium shaper. it gives you access to transmute and lots of strong etbs and perminants. zur as commander would draw too much hate from my group but he can go in the 99. What do you guys think is good for the slide.
No I didn't forget the x in RBX, I DO MEAN RAKDOS STORM. I think if I add blue to the mix I won't have a storm deck that I would enjoy as it lacks a puzzle element.
bonus round is one of my favorite cards along side past in flames. In addition red tends to lean towards more looting with some recusion support in both black and red for spell sslinger type cards are printed it seems with every set more red spell cards are printex. With the printing of more and more looting effects
Is it possible to just play rakdos ritual storm and manually win off of looting to your yard?
So what commander would you run? What cards can you run to fill some of the gaps?
I'm not opposed to running no holds barred power lvl cards but it must be storm and not fast combo or inf mana hence the 75% tag
maybe artifact lands?
targets for throne of geth in a pinch
might let you run mox opal
though they are not really fetchable and do nothing for manafixing
how do you play blood pod in a meta where 3/4 of the players are competitive but the other 4th run 80% decks whos creatures are larger than yours on average?
Tatyova, Benthic Druid: Built in card advantage and life gain in the command zone and access two of the strongest colors in the format. Having access to the ultimate of Nissa, Vital Force plus life gain in the command zone is really powerful. Fetch lands like Misty Rainforest and Verdant Catacomb function as a free Divination with Tatyova, Benthic Druid on the battlefield. Playing extra land effects like Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Oracle of Mul Daya, Exploration and Summer Bloom make it very easy to play multiple lands in a row during each of our turns allowing us to ramp quickly and draw absurd amounts of cards. Plus Boundless Realms does tremendous work. I already have a semi-competitive deck list built around Tatyova and recently acquired all of the cards. I can't wait to test it out!
Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar: He gets absurdly big in a ramp deck and has trample so he'll have no problem dealing damage. Because he also counts lands in your graveyard, it makes sense to run all of the fetch lands with him, even Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse. He is incredibly resilient due to his activated ability that will allow us to evade the commander tax, and we can use sacrifice outlets like Greater Good and High Market to protect him from potential exile effects. We can also use spells like Life's Legacy and Momentous Fall to gain extraordinary value from him. Of course the usual suspects of ramp spells are wonderful here (Cultivate, Skyshroud Claim, Boundless Realms).
i'm with u 100% on Tatyova, Benthic Druid i'm gonna get a tread going if there isnt one already to trying to push her to competitive, my guess is that she will be strong for the same reasons gitrog is but its not gonna be as obvious to push her.
getaxian probe plays dual roles as a cantrip and a check for counter play when you want to go off
and your wheels like wheel of fortune windfall
its up to you if you wana run things like timetwister or Time Spiral as they mess with many graveyard plays there are other wheels of course but I will let you investigate a bit
as for which combo to keep i will leave that up to you however i will mention that the most cutthroat decks usually have commanders that are either the game plan, plan B, or protect your combo in some manner, remember that if your commander is part of your combo it is one less piece you have to lookfor.
counter spells are a good addition for any combo deck running blue
keep the manacost low 2 or less unless you have a realy good reason to run the higher costing ones counterspell remand spell pierce if your going fast enough less effective as the game progresses Flusterstorm swan song
are some examples. i recommend looking at some of the really competitive decks that are listed all over the internet for a comprehensive list of things that are run.
its all about efficiency and your meta for cutthroat decks
there seems to be to many game plans going on here you can smooth it out by reducing the number on wincons to 1-2 and adding cantrips which is why breya decks usually focus on nimdeath mantle combo. sphinxs rev is very strong in a setting like standard its less good in a multiplayer environment, in edh however wheels typically are more efficient at 3 mana for 7ish new cards vs 10 mana for 7 life and 7 cards.
for instance if you wanted to capitalize on the metamorph/sculpting steel combos i would recommend just playing sharuum as its its faster than just slotting it in to your deck for breya
where your wincon is bitter ordeal/disiple of the vault
thoughts on Growing Rites of Itlimoc its possibly another gaias cradle effect(after transformation) and in darevi i have no doubt you could trigger it. obviously its not as fast but would you consider it a budget version of the land or an additional copy?
Growing Rites of Itlimoc imo is to slow and another no creature spell wit converted mana cost 3 or greater (stax effect)
I think you might be confused on how it triggers its 3 or more creatures not cmc 3 or more. If you are referring to the casting cost of itlimoc I would like to remind you that the context was a second gaias cradle OR a Budget version for those of us who cannot afford a 300$ land. On a slightly tangential point 3 mana avoids trinisphere.
depends of the rest of your deck terastodon functions better in reanimator strategies and i would take it over woodfall in that case. woodfall primus is better in sac strategies as mentioned earlier however it also has combo potential with Melira, Sylvok Outcast/mikaeus the unhallowed. For good stuff with out a focus one any of the synergies above i would recommend terastodon if I cant have both.
I am aware of this combo as its is played in competitive versions of the deck i was looking into winning with dovescape rather than other combos
dovescape protects its self from instant speed responces to your wincon other than things like Venser, Shaper Savant while retaining the ability to cast your commander and various spells rather than protecting with counterspells. in this sense you only have to resolve dovescape to push though your wincon. I might add it in anyway but I would like the primary wincon to include dovescape or at least use dovescape significantly. for instance including Phyrexian Altar means that you could sac all the birds to recoup all the mana lost casting the spell, therefor you would only need enough mana to cast any non creature spells the only downsides are that you have to have phyrexian arena on the field first and only instants and sorceries resolve.

utility land that gets you extra loyalty and has a lot of synergy with bounce and untap effects

Rona, Disciple of Gix,Slimefoot, the Stowaway both kinda similar effects rona with deadeye is good after infinite mana. slimefoot inf mana and any sac outlet wins u the game
Raff Capashen, Ship's if i don't see one deck with him flashing artifacts i will be sad
Thirst for Knowledge
Compulsive Research not instant but not bad either
Tragic Lesson borderline but instant speed

btw Felidar Guardian+ Saheeli Rai is an interesting combo i have not seen b4
