I have a land base question about Dredge. Generally the fetches of choice are Mire and Foothills, and I understand why. My question is are Verdants viable in lieu of Foothills? I own a play set of Foothills that are in use, but hate swapping lands back and forth between decks.

Looking to brew up something for local FNM fun. I have not really touched standard in almost two years and thought this would be pretty fun for under $100. I just want to go fast and hard like I did with mono red heroic. Obviously the silly low curve is a must. The dig and refuel potential between Bomat, Insolent and Smuggler's feels solid on test draws. No question that I will be folding to any game past turn six or two, but that such is mono red. The only cards I do not like are
Eager and Village but I was hard pressed to find other good low drop options and figured at least with those two scry is never bad (nor is another non-vehicle artifact) and if Villager happens to flip cool, but if hot it is a haste vehicle fuel or turn one. Go ahead and tear me up on this if you want to, but any constructive criticism would be highly appreciated.

If you want to make everyone flip the table, Radiate a Chaos Warp. Your death will be pondered (and perhaps attempted) numerous times as your group spends the next hour shuffling their decks over and over.

You are a sick, sick individual. I think I love you.

I understand where you are coming from ISBP. However, I used to play a lot of legacy Enchantress and feel like that would be a bit excessively pillow fort and not enough screw with everyone (please feel free to price me wrong).

Just as a general color combo, WB is something that would definitely work. But what would you suggest for the Commander?

So I do not play EDH/Commander. I have tried it in the past, never really could get into it. However, it is reasonably popular where i live and I often have people trying to pressure me to give it another go. Well, I will soon be finishing my current project (cube) and am looking for something else to do while we play and play test that starting next month. This brings me back to EDH. I want to build a deck, but with a few... requirements, and need some significant guidance since I am not very familiar with the format.

The main thing I want to accomplish is to have a deck that will make people hate me. This may sound weird, and I am not doing this to actively piss everyone off. The play group I would be with are all pretty fun guys and no one holds a grudge. I just want to go that route because it would be funny to me. In making people hate me/my deck I want to be able to do a few things:
    Destroy resources
Prevent people from interacting with me (and thereby making it hard to kill me)
The deck does not need to necessarily win. It just needs to do extremely annoying things and not be the first one out.

Within that idea I would prefer to stay within two colors at most to make the land base easier AND would prefer to keep individual card costs under $50 (this is for fun, not to break my bank especially with the cube work I have been doing).

I beg of you, players who know and love the format, guide me in the right (horrible) direction!

I would have to travel at least two hours to even buy cards at a store right now sadly. I think to date only one other person has even mentioned knowing of the game (and having played a bit at some point in the past, but no longer).

I have to admit, anything based on the seven thunders does garner a lot of interest with me given when I originally played (I remember having the original print of Isawa Tadaka in my deck).

It is such a pain to get people interested in something new (to them) though. I really need to print out a complete copy of the Ivory rules and have it on hand when I am trying to demo the game.

Anyone play this? I was a huge fan back in the 90s (my friends and I played more L5R than Magic) and found out last year that it was still in print. I recently picked up some starters from the most recent set (Twenty Festivals) and am relearning the game.

Actually the defense tactic has merit. The goal if going on defense is bait them into your immortal's aoe and then score a kill or two before going on the attack. My play group has been doing this regularly with high success.

The first one was watchable, largely because it was fun to see Transformers in general put on the big screen light that. All that has come after has been going progressively further downhill.

Based on what they have openly said thus far the release schedule will likely be Butcher -> Leoric -> Monk. They have released too much info on Leoric for him to not come soon (that passive is potentially crazy) and already noted that the Monk needs a fair amount of development time still.

They PTR will be made live today so people can try out the new map early if they want to (no Butcher though).

Thanks for the input. I have moved up to 30 lands for the core fixing for the initial testing of the cube along with other misc artifact fixers.

What approximate number of mana fixing is appropriate at the various core cube sizes (360, 450, 540, 720)? I am assembling a 360 cube right now that i plan to grow over time and at the moment have 20 lands as fixing but am unsure if that is a solid starting point.

So is now the time to buy Bob? I see him sitting around $40 for the MM2 version...

He is seeing minimal play right now so this is likely as low as he will go anytime in the near future.
