Very disappointed today, more so then my wife and she is the one who collects angels. My LGS where I normally buy FTV's for MSRP only recieved 3 FTV:Angels and of course my wife and I were 4 and 5 on the list. I was told I may be able to buy one of the others if they don't come get theirs by sunday as only one person had picked theirs up.
It just was really disappointing because we got a babysitter, headed there right when my wife got off work, about 30 min before the FNM draft we were going to play in at another local store was going to start. I had gotten her favorite angel deck box, avacyn sleeves, dice, angel binder, the works all ready, and then just denied those shiny angels and to be told maybe you can buy one tomorrow or sunday, he couldn't remember how long the store had to hold the others for only making it more frustrating because I now have to call tomorrow to be disappointed again.
Edit: Forgot to mention this store used to receive minimum 5 FTV's and during its prime 15. The tournaments have not been firing as often and the store has parasitically been declining over the past year, so i assume that is the cause. I'm curious thought is 3 even a realistic number that a store can receive? I thought 5 was the lowest number?
So after that we head to do the draft and we are hopeful because the store was suppose to be doing a raffle to give people the chance to buy the FTV at MSRP. The raffle was never announced until the drawing was over so we missed out on that as well.
At least the origins draft went well. We split in the finals, she got there with U/R artifacts(spy network p1) and I succeeded with U/G fatties/tempo. So we both got a serum visions and then 5 packs between us which we took as 15 store credit. So at least that worked out.
I'm just not sure what I should do now. I should probably just find one on tcgplayer and buy it so that we have one for sure and she can have her gorgeous angels but at the same time I want to hold out hope that maybe neither of the other 2 pre orders will pick theirs up.... haha wishful thinking.
I assume this should be a packaging error. Potentially caused by new techniques to deter people from box mapping maybe? I am curious as to what the average number of mythics people are opening per box currently. I have opened one box and only opened 2 mythics. I would think I should have opened 3 since 1 in 8 chance of opening a mythic and 24 packs were opened. 24/8=3. Opened a bitterblossom and clique with a foil command behind it, so I'm not complaining as much as if I would have opened a comet storm. In addition, the majority of text on the rares I opened were faded, as if the ink was running out. For 10 dollars a pack I expect better quality then this. Luckily that issue only affected the non-foil rares. I plan to contact wizards about the issue regarding the faded ink. I bought another box that I have not opened yet and I really am contemplating just returning it.
So not really sure why I'm posting this thread but I guess I'm curious if anyone else thought the same thing. Just opened up the new speed vs cunning duel deck. I open the speed deck removing the plastic its wrapped in, expecting to smell that usual fresh magic card smell, only to have my cards smell very much like chemicals and ink. Not really sure how I would describe the fresh cracked pack smell, but this is definitely not it.
Now around M13 I started to notice the cards in the deck builder's toolkit and other supplemental products had a very glossy finish to them than cards opened in packs. I assume others have noticed this as well. So I'm assuming it has something to do with the ink they are using to print supplemental products, I never really noticed a different smell until tonight after opening the new duel deck.
So for my curiosity did anyone else noticed this? Has anyone noticed it before now? Are they changing our addicting ink?
On another note, I'm really not a big fan of the new foiling process they are using on the supplemental products, such as in the M15 clash pack, and the new duel deck. It makes the card itself look very "cloudy".

Haven't heard about anything like that around here. Just unlucky fat packs with no mythics. On the note about double rares, I opened a regular scuttling doom engine and a foil in the same pack. As well as 2 cone of flames in the same pack, not foil just right next to each other in the uncommon slot. Not really sure how common that is, but the 2 cone of flames in the same pack in sealed was amazing. lol
To me it seems like its more just for flavor then a hate card for a future playable wall. Not to say there might not be some playable walls in Khans but I don't think this will be the answer card for them.
The first thing that came to my mind was tribal. Though not in the sense of races, such as elf, goblin, etc. But more focused on classes ex. Warrior, monk, rogue, samurai, etc. Though it does seem like it would possibly be too soon for tribal since INN had tribal themes. More likely something else will be the focus of the something old and tribal will still have its place in the block by being a subtheme. Just my gut feeling from back when Mark first announced khans.
My second feeling is for a basic land matters theme, which would be a great time to bring back snow lands even if im not really a fan of them.
Love the old sliver art on the land! Hopefully they got the hint and the slivers in M15 will have old design as well. As for the soul that art is great but not really what I was hoping for in its ability. At least the activation cost isn't as bad as the blue soul.
I agree the new site is extremely annoying in its layout. Having to click through what seems like needless buttons rather than just having it all in one place is frustrating. As with when they changed the forums I completely stopped going to them it will end up being the same for the site. Sigh.

I had the same thing happen to me except it was with a box of theros. The missing pack would have been the 4th mythic in the box so it really sucked. You'll need to have the receipt for the pack you bought, and the rest of the cards that came in the pack. Send those to the address on the website and you'll get a replacement. It only to happened to one pack out of my box but a couple of the packs also had upside down uncommons(not misprints just cards with backs facing up). It took about 3 weeks and i received 2 packs back. Unfortunately they contained a spear of heliod and whip of erebos. So i got a 3 mythic box with one extra pack
First time i had ever heard of it happening in person, but have read about other accounts in sets like worldwake and others.
Here's my quick story of awkwardness at an m14 pre-release. Second match game 3 I'm playing UW control as is my opponent. We play fliers, answer back and forth, until eventually stalling out the game with defenders and weak fliers. He gets me in lethal range, but because the point the game is at, there are 16 creatures on the board between us and i congregate for 32. He starts screaming obscenity's, trying to insult me and just overreacting to the game. The entire time all i can do is just laugh as he decks himself over the next few turns. I've never played against anyone that has reacted in such a way to losing and never hope to again. I honestly thought the kid was going to jump across the table and want to fight. Lol i know we all want to win, but it's just a game!
