Sure. I left out Negate (textless) and Imaginary Threats. Don't like the art on either of them, but you can remove 2 cards form my list and add those if you want every single Blue card depicting Jace in the deck.

There was a time when Jace was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
His only friend was the man in the moon
And even sometimes he would go away, too
Then one night, as he closed his eyes
He saw a shadow flying high
He came to him with the sweetest smile
Told me Jace wanted to talk for awhile <3

This is my all Jace-related cards deck, with a slight mechanic theme of bombing as many of them as I can and ideally recycling them to do it again.

I wish Grasping Current's effect was on Castaway's Despair and vice versa. Castaway's Despair clearing away creatures and letting you find a lonely Jace from your deck makes more sense. And Grasping Current tapping down a creature permanently until it "eases up" (enchantment leaves the field) makes more sense.

Plus, I want the search card to be the one with the beautiful art. Oh well Frown

Grasping Current doesn't even have Jace as the main focus of the art, sadly. Wish it were the other way around.

lol "sexism" - Sultai's post isn't sexist at all. Women cannot be as physically strong as their male counterparts. Their upkeep, especially every month, even more so if pregnant, is hindering to being out on high seas like that.
Maybe they use magic to fix this?
In MTG, probably. In comparison to the real-world influence of the source material, not so much - and that's where those expectations spawn from. It's not sexism to have a preconceived notion of what to anticipate. The real issue though isn't the deviation from the source material (this is a fantasy game after all) but the fact that females feel shoehorned in to meet a quota. The transparent agenda is what feels awkward. For example, we got our first gay male couple in Theros, which felt appropriate. A lot of decisions lately feel awkward. There's been a saturation of females in general abruptly, and so people notice where it feels out of place or is unexpected. Crying "sexism" at completely valid reasoning is a good way to upset people, make them uncompromising, and be judgmental. Which is a major reason liberals are unpopular (sorry mods, but you really should be stepping in at this point instead of punishing people for their opinions how about stop these social rants in story forum?)
What is sexism if not a preconceived notion of to expect from members of a certain gender?
Except no one is starting with gender here. We're looking at Pirates and the logistics of living on the sea, and the historical source material. All of which are facts. Noticing patterns is the natural workings of the human mind.

For me personally, female pirates isn't as awkward. I like Beckett Brass and Lannery Storm. Ultimately though, do it too much and strong females rising in the ranks of a male dominated world becomes a lost trope.

Although my favorite card in the set, I think Jace, Cunning Castway is madly overrated. "Infinite with Doubling Season" stopped being a valid justification as soon as Doubling Season saw print. I'd rather pay 1 more mana and bomb Tamiyo, Field Researcher for an impervious Omniscience and 3 cards instead of having infinite 2/2s and giving my opponent a turn in between. In EDH, even if you did pull off that kind of win with Jace, assuming you didn't eat a board wipe when your next turn came around, you'd be hated for going infinite with minimal effort anyway - whereas an ultimate like Tamiyo gives you the game while actually playing it with massive advantage, instead of setting up a solitaire situation, for example. I just feel there are better examples of cards to use with Doubling Season if you're so inclined, and frankly, one card being the sole justification for why another could be decent isn't valid reasoning at all.

Also, this brings up something very interesting.

It appears that Vraska did not PW from Ravnica to Ixalan but from Ravnica to Bolas's Meditation Realm. As such, it would seem that Lightning Bug's 'bug' was due to the spell Bolas provided than anything about Ixalan.

Also brings up... how does Lightning Bug identify the destination plane? Not as in 'sense' but name. Does it actually give the plane's name (as if the plane itself knows its own name) or does it give a description that Ral Zarek identifies, or what? If the latter (which is far more probable) how does it handle a plane that he's never been to?

As for the story itself, it's very good. I don't think they're setting up a romance between Jace and Vraska, but more of a firm friendship. Ironically, the reason that Nicol Bolas 'sent' Jace to Ixalan (and Vraska to Jace: Note the compass points him out) may be to pay Vraska. Could not the Living Guildpact name Guildmasters?

Biggest question from this story is which associate of Bolas's is going to show up? Possible entrants include:

    1) Tezzeret. Most likely, especially if Ixalan doesn't jam the Planar Bridge. In fact, obtaining the Immortal Sun might have been one of the main reasons Bolas wanted the Bridge.

    2) Ral Zarek. This is highly UNlikely, as Ral Zarek knows both Jace and Vraska quite well.

    3) Liliana. This would be Magnificent Bastard levels on Bolas's part, and would immediately kickstart the nasty Love Triangle of Vraska/Jace/Liliana. Remember that Bolas knows Jace is on Ixalan and he has a favor to call in from Liliana (technically).

    4) Sarkhan. Quite unlikely. He is, however, the one (past) associate of Bolas that does NOT know Jace, or at least not well or while sane.

    5) Someone new.

The other major question is whether Bolas expects Jace to survive Ixalan. I find it unlikely. Given that he knows where Jace is (from information in Hour and podcasts as I recall) and that the compass he gave pointed directly to him... he meant Vraska to find Jace. It's possible that he knew (from Ral) of Jace's and Vraska's past and expected her to just petrify him immediately. Because the trick is, as above, every likely person to go pick up the Immortal Sun knows who Jace is, and would blow his amnesia.

Anyway, it's interesting, to say the least.
Some very interesting observations here Scott - definitely in agreement with many of your points.

The Planar Bridge may be the only way out of Ixalan after all. Makes sense why Bolas didn't complete this task himself. Should the Bridge evacuation fail, he wouldn't want to be trapped there himself. I suspect Tezzeret will show up with it, Vraska, Jace and Tezzeret depart, ideally (for Bolas) with the Immortal Sun in tow. Involving a second agent after the Sun is acquired by the first seems unnecessary, unless the second agent is required in order for both (and Jace, since Bolas created the GW) to leave Ixalan. So it must be Tezzeret with the Bridge. I suspect Jace was tugged by Bolas to Ixalan because, as you mentioned, he would appoint Vraska as Guildmaster upon returning to Ravnica (so Bolas doesn't get his hands dirty doing it for her) and Jace's abilities probably secure Vraska's success in her mission.

As if Jace wasn't my husbando enough, they throw in an amnesia plotline and he's just adorable. Baaahhhh gonna buy so much of this set.

I enjoyed this week's story. Honestly I've enjoyed them all so far. Really feeling this plane and its history. I do feel bad for the Legion of Dusk though. Kinda hoping they get the Immortal Sun. It was stolen from them after all, and I can empathize with wanted to be free of their curse too. Might do good for everyone on the plane if they were, perhaps.

The flats comment was dumb, but the story had a few strong lines too. I laughed when Jace went "Let's find out" hnnnnnggg <3 The dynamic of Jace and Vraska is pretty neat.

lol "sexism" - Sultai's post isn't sexist at all. Women cannot be as physically strong as their male counterparts. Their upkeep, especially every month, even more so if pregnant, is hindering to being out on high seas like that. And a woman on a ship with deprived men is a recipe for disaster. Men don't get ahead because they're superior, it's just a logistics thing. Here I can see WOTC wants representation. My issue with equal representation is it makes women less special. Usually, when a woman is a leader (like Queen Miralda for example) in a man's world, I always think to myself damn, she made it to the top in a male-dominated world, and I'm compelled to know more. For me it actually detracts not to have more scarcity. In history the women who defied the odds and made it to the top are always the most interesting, such as Queen Elizabeth being a more powerful monarch than any Tutor men. Here, that appeal feels cheapened "eh, so it's a female ruler in a world where women in leader roles is ubiquitous - and lately, the status quo"

What's sexist to me is hemorrhaging out female characters to get even by the same means. Just to get numbers? Seems disingenuous to me. Look at the native PWs lately from the past several worlds. Not that I mind, but it's pretty transparent. Yet people still complain. Don't even get me started on how people on Blogatog want Maro to be aware of every gender term they identify with.

At least the sexism debate is better than the stupid race/history debate from a few pages ago that made me cringe. I can't believe some of the things people were saying. Quit buying into propaganda and being media sheep by taking everything at face value. I blame the mods for allowing the bait to stay fresh for so long and banning anyone who takes it.

On the bright side - I love Ixalan. It's finally what I've been asking for - a relatively peaceful exploration story that takes a survey of the natural world and its denizens and showcases them all on cards. Not apocalyptic wastelands and war scenes everywhere in a dismal trash heap of world. Cynthia Shepherd took the art in a very welcoming vibrant direction too. Plane is gorgeous and the story is refreshing and equally compelling.

I have a Jace themed deck. I can post this list at a later time but if you want, here's a list of all cards Jace appears on at the bottom: https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Jace_Beleren

Obviously make Jace, Vryn's Prodigy the Commmander.

The set is solid. My favorite cards are all the Jace ones, especially Jace, Cunning Castaway (not fond of his token effect being -2 instead of 0 though) and Axis of Mortality. I may end up going to all the pre-release events or at least most.

Am I the only one here bothered by the artwork?

Why, just WHY is Jace doing something physically difficult like hanging from an air ladder (or whatever it's called), looking like he seriously took to the gym and now shows off? His.. his image! That's Gideon stuff! Where did the supernerd mentality go?

I find it funny that Jace has a fairly realistic (albeit not stereotypically nerdy) body and everyone's complaining, but none of these people ever complained about Steve Argyle's various assaults on anatomy, shading, and not making cards that look like something a cat vomited on the carpet. Okay, that last one wasn't fanservicey at all (unless you have a cat vomit fetish) but my point remains.

As for me, I always wondered why planeswalkers weren't legendary. It's mostly flavor fluff, but Gideon and Sarkhan really want to join Captain Sisay's crew, wear the Champion's Helm, and have their Day of Destiny.

@theMarc: What if the boardwipe is Aether Snap, which destroys all tokens and all planeswalkers (and a bunch of other things like spikes and creatures with graft.
Jace haters are like Libtard SJWs though, devoid of logic and full of hypocritical hate. I wouldn't bother applying reason to their lack of judgment.

    Suspended for flaming

Jace art is amazing quality, shows progress in the game appealing to women and gay men as they've gradually begun doing (long overdue) and it was about time we got a Jace card - let alone one dealing with illusions to boot.

Even Zendikar felt smaller in the return than the original did, with the story and cards mostly focusing on Sea Gate in Tazeem for example - yet we've both seen and know of Zendikar being far more vast than the return let on.

The flavor is the idea of summoning that PW from different stages of their existence. For example, having Venser PW and Venser Legend out at once. This is a game with temporal magic.
Honestly, summoning either Venser alone would require some shenanigans, considering that he's dead. Summoning both (or, say, an army of Gideons) isn't much of a stretch after that.
Basically I haven't been able to function since the Jace reveal. Ixalan is a better Zendikar than Zendikar was already. I can't even care about the PW rules.
