To summarize the 3 builds people are leaning towards.
BR - PROS - More Budget friendly, More consistent lands, and better vs aggro that is always popular at the start of a new season,
CONS - Worse ways to draw the card you need. Can and will run out of gas and removal. Can kill ones self with no way to rid a Pact whose Donate fails.
Grixis - PROS - Great card draw, Better vs control, access to interesting sideboard options, Jace to discard extra copies of Offering, Bounce effects to not lose to Pact
- CONS - too many CITP Lands, Expensive to build, Could be slow to piolet leading to unintentional draws.
Mardu - PROS - Better vs Midrange, access to interesting sideboard options, Nahiri to discard extra copies of Offering while providing a great alternate win con, exile effects to not lose to Pact, access to Gideon
- CONS - too many CITP Lands, Expensive to build, Doesn't have great card draw options
I think all 3 are viable, In my opinion, BR will be the best version week 1 or at the SCG event the launch weekend. Control decks are basically absent in the first week, as its hard to control an unknown field. Every one will be in a hurry to try decks that aren't GWx because of how boring Standard is right now.
Staring week 2, You need to decide if you need to be better VS control, or Midrange. and splash to a less all in combo version. I will be building Mardu, cause in Wisconsin, EVERYONE plays Midrange.
i am sure that Tree and assault formation are definitely good choice...but wait a mins, turn to frog will let your tree lose all its abilities, so the combo will come to nothing, bud...
i believe that the right thing for that should be an Soul Seperator, that is what we need for the Plan B
you put the Tree's ability on the stack, then Turn to Frog it. The ability will check its toughness on resolution, and make your opponent's life 1
This thing makes me yearn for a Circular Logic reprint. Honestly as a guy who won a regionals with Frog in a Blender back in the day, the ability to discard several cards wasnt used a ton, compared to the ability to madness a card on your turn, and your opponents.
EE is sadly missing one or two things from being amazing. If it either, didnt sacrifice the creature until spell resolution or was an instant.
As is, getting this Remanded may as well be a Hand Shake.
Of course, the natural pairs to this are tokens, things with persist, or guys like Bloodghast and Doomed Traveler I am for sure looking to test it in place of Chord in my Rally-Anafenza deck
How hasnt any one mentioned this guy with Black Self Discard Queen, Lilliana of the Veil or perhaps a revival of BU Madness? THis dude + Basking Rootwalla
Swing with the Angel. Play Demonic Pact. Make them discard next Turn. Swing then gift this. Make them lose 8. Play another Pact. Make them lose another 8 next turn on turn 8?
Maybe Grixis Permission Gifts.
Perhaps Abyssal Persecutor as well? In a pinch, Donate it to your opponent, and they have to some how remove the thing before they can kill you. If you want to go deeper, Canopy Cover on the Abyssal Persecutor you Donate then, you have established a soft lock.
Something else that is potentially useful: Boom // Bust. Instant Speed 1 Mana Armageddon? Seems cool
Actually, its 1 mana to add a counter, then it checks. so, if it works, boom bust would cost 2. That said, I dont think this works like this, because you couldn't "kick" a creature you cast for free from a Eureka. Why would you be able to kick (fuse) with this card?
You should play GW with Essence Warden and Burreton Forge Tender for burn. Path helps out the infect matchup also, Scattershot Archer can be useful vs infect.
So i 4-0ed vs JC's eldrazi, BR Eldrazi, Uw Tron, and affinity in the finals. I don't have company, but they would probably replace the Lead the Stampede.
Included, is proof of my 4-0 and the decklist
Notable plays. Tron had a platinum angel. I chorded for a rec sage, and killed him. Next game, he had an Ulumog and a Worship in play. I chorded for a Shaman, and made him loose his last life.
Acidic Slime won BR eldrazi, bu killing his Eldrazi Temple, and stranding his colorless eldrazi in his hand.
g1 vs Affinity, he god handed, and killed me on turn 3 with a 8/2 ornithropter. g2 I had 30 power of elves in play after a double nettle, heritage hand ramped into a Lead the Stampede hitting Nettle 3 and an arch druid.
g3 he god handed, but I drew multiple Reclamation sages. Killed him with multiple chordes into Shaman of the Packs, rendering his Etched Champion, into a Chump-ion
Here is a serviceable deck. Less devotion. more.. Rg Ferocious I guess. Fanatic happens to have 4 power and is an amazing follow up to a turn 3 Flamewake Phoenix unless you draw Shaman.

Of course, your Wild Mongrels simply never get lightning bolted on your turn before you attack, but Fiery Temper hardly sees play in standard.
I think with Circular Logic, a BU tempo deck would be tottally sweet. The fact that he pumps Asylum Visitor and Elusive Tormentor is just gravy
As is, getting this Remanded may as well be a Hand Shake.

I was at 2, but then he died.
Thier nut draws are bad, but cant attack threw a flood of regenerating elves
