4-1 twice so far in MTGO Modern Friendly League play with this janky Red splash version:

    https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/red-eldrazi-stompy/

Losses so far only to Mono G Tron, the mirror (who spanked me handily), and Elves for 8-3 record so far from 2 Leagues and 1 2 Man Queue. Wins against Death's Shadow, Cheerios, Storm, UW Control, Erayo Jeskai Combo, Bogles. Ramunap Ruins has won 3 games for me (2 vs Control, 1 vs Death's Shadow) - opponent on 2 life, top decked Ramunap and popped for win.

Do you guys have the same complaints with Elves/Merfolk as Humans? Spirits is similar but we talked about how the guys don't get as big.

Thanks. I appreciate the answer. Was running 1 Cavern of Souls but agree control is already a solid Match up. Currently running only 1 Scavenger Grounds so I'll up it to 2x. Thanks for the quick reply!

Sorry again for more noob questions about this deck but is there a reason why Cavern of souls also looks like it has fallen out of favor for this deck? Because meta is more aggro and less control these days? Not even as a 1x?

I see that Endless One has fallen out of a lot of the lists here (the ones based on Jordan's latest list in any case). Is Matter Reshaper just that much better at this point due to the card advantage he offers?

    @vhfforever and @ChaoticTyrant,

Do you guys mind sharing your lists? I'm a long-time MTGO E&T player (both Chalice/Simian and Vial versions), but am frankly tired of being steamrolled by the onslaught of Bant Spirits/Humans/Creature Collected Toolbox that seems to be popping up everywhere now.

Am trying to learn the ropes on this deck just for change of pace and scenery, but would also love you guys's thoughts on how this deck performs vs Humans/Bant etc. I understand this deck is much more aggro than the traditional E&T versions and have been reading up on Jordan's various primers.

I've actually been doing Open Play (def not ready to put tickets and Play Points on the line yet) with the Jordan SCG Classic list (Chalice/SSG main) except it runs mountains so I can have access to sideboard options like Anger of the Gods, Shattering Spree, and good old bolt. Mana base is basically:

    1x Blinkmoth Nexus
    1x Cavern of Souls
    4x Eldrazi Temple
    3x Gemstone Caverns
    4x Ghost Quarter
    4x Mountain
    4x Ramunap Ruins
    2x Tectonic Edge
    1x Wastes

    Thanks all!

I meant to reply with my gratitude earlier but I appreciate the thoughtful response. However, it does beg the question though of how useful the copter is. In game 1 we both agree a chalice, arbiter, and thalia should all come before copter. Even in game 2 if are not the beatdowm, they might still have priority to be played over copter which just goes back to the question of whether there are better cards to be played instead. I've moved to a copter and a reshaper although just got another 5-0 on mtgo with 2 reshapers instead so I'll keep toggling with it.

Redtwister, didn't you say you play the serum powder Eldrazi stompy deck? How does that compare to this? I've pretty much got all of the cards for that Deck so was thinking of trying that Deck out for fun.

    Hey guys,
I posted this question a while back and didn't get any answers, but how do you guys sequence your 2 drops between Thalia/Leonin Arbiter/Smuggler's Copter/Chalice of the Void? Specifically with Copter. I feel confident about my play decisions when it's between Thalia/Leonin Arbiter/Chalice. However, I feel like I make a lot of bad decisions when I'm trying to decide between Copter + some combination of the other 3.

How do you guys generally think through a hand with no T1 acceleration and Copter + 1 or some combination of the other 3 2-drops (treating Chalice as a 2 drop obviously)? I know others have mentioned how awkward Copter generally feels and I would agree, but I also think a large part of it is because I never really feel confident in how/when to play it in this deck. I've actually switched to 1x Copter and 1x Matter Reshaper just to avoid my bad decision-making lol :-\

TJW - welcome to the thread. I love the idea of mainboard Karn. I didn't mess with the Mind Stones, but I did take out a Smuggler's Copter in favor of 1 Karn. As you saw in my previous thread, I feel like I kept making misplays/bad decisions from simply not sequencing my 2 drops correctly. Going down to a singleton Copter and a singleton Karn feels right.

I have 2 5-0 trophies now in the new Friendly League in session after grinding a bunch and getting zero trophies in the last session - even though Karn has only been useful once, I'll take that as a good sign for now. Smile

In terms of other ideas for tweaking, I basically play Leagues with the standard WW or also a RW version below:

    https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/eldrazi-staxes-rw/?cb=1531280329

It's about 59% win rate right now while the WW is closer to 60%. Not sure if any is better than the other - the RW gives you access to Anger of the Gods which is an excellent sweeper for most match-ups that are faster than us.

Congrats Spiderspace on the excellent finish!

I think I need some help with timing for Smugglers Copter. On a turn 2 with no acceleration from turn 1, how do you prioritize casting Thalia/Arbiter vs Copter?

Will be the first to admit I've made a lot of mistakes here but I'm still not sure how exactly to think through it. I can generally tell between Arbiter and Thalia which tax is more important but when I have one or 2 of those vs Copter, I tend to overthink.

Any general guidelines or rules of thumb you guys can offer?

Awesome finish, Spiderspace! Spiderspace finished 1st in yesterday's Modern Challenge:

    https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/mtgo-standings/modern-challenge-2018-06-10

Was this streamed? If so, I'll have to check it out on your channel instead of asking you for a report here.

For those interested, I've been playing the RW variant of this deck through 13 MTGO Friendly Leagues now going infinite with a 43-22 record (.662 win rate) with current build below:

    https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/eldrazi-staxes-rw/

Biggest difference I've noticed is how resilient the RW version is vs Aggro-based decks and has basically not lost yet to Affinity, Merfolk, Elves, D&T, Death's Shadow, Eldrazi Aggro thanks to the power of Anger of the Gods and Engineered Explosives. Haven't played Humans yet which is really odd but I'm curious how that will work out.

    All,
I've done 5 MTGO Friendly Leagues now reverting back to the RW variants of last year. Currently 16-9 (4x 3-2, 1x 4-1) with the following:

    https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/eldrazi-staxes-rw/

The 2x Anger of the Gods are well worth the splash in my opinion. When you have Worship-stalled board states, this lets you wipe out an army of Humans/Merfolk/Soul Sisters/Tokens leaving your Smashers/Thought-Knot Seers ready to win instead of waiting for 2x Smuggler's Copter to fly over. The addition of Wear/Tear to the SB I think has also been a welcome addition. Finally, RW splash gets you access to Engineered Explosives, which is better than Ratchet Bomb in almost all instances. Manabase is still questionable, but basically I went back through all of the old discussion threads between Redtwister, Stabil0, and Spiderspace on the subject to try to come up with something that works while keeping as many Horizon Canopys in as possible. The only time the manabase has hurt has been a couple times when I definitely wished an Aether Hub was a Sacred Foundry so I may go ahead and trade the Aether Hub out for a 2nd Sacred Foundry. Other than that, no issues.

Other than that though, I think the WW versions have a lot of great tech and are obviously getting great finishes for a reason so tried to mirror the deck after as much of the recent tournament placing builds as possible (2x Tocatli, 2x Worship, etc). 5 Leagues though is still not a ton of data though so will keep grinding with this in the meantime and report back. If any of the higher skilled players want to take this for a spin, would love to get your thoughts.

Spiderspace and everyone else, what's y'all's thoughts on why G Tron has become so much more difficult of a matchup?

In lifetime league play, I started 10-0 vs Tron. Now I'm 18-7 implying it's become more of 50/50 matchup now. I'm not sure what has changed though or if I should be playing the matchup differently.

    @2imu

Congrats on the results. Great finish! I only skin down to the bottom but will read your report in detail later. Just wanted to say I'm thrilled with the Finish and more people getting excited about our deck! I have still yet to play a single mirror up to this point... That may not last much longer.

Stabil0, you're back! Welcome back - glad to have you back on the thread. Couldn't come at a better time with the recent finishes - I just got back on the deck a few weeks ago myself and have been doing enjoying running this through 30 or so Friendly Leagues and going infinite (barely).

I'm still not liking my records vs Merfolk/D&T/Humans/fast aggro that's not burn that I'm going to go back to the RW variant for a spin. I think Anger of the Gods + Tocatli Honor Guard can really change the match-up a LOT. I'm in my first League right now with this deck below at 3-0, but will wait until I've done a few more to report back on my findings. Let's get this discussion more active again like the old days!
