Just like I made the choice to Vraska's Contempt your Rekindling Phoenix. This is a non-issue.

That literally makes no sense. If it's supposedly that good than Negate should've been pretty damn good already. Making Negate uncounterable doesn't suddenly make it leaps and bounds better than every other counter spell out there. That's determined by the metagame. It's the reason we run so many different counter spells. I feel like everyone is trying really hard to justify something that doesn't make sense, but y'all do what you want. If i look at the top decks right now, there's not many where I'm leaning super hard on a Negate (upgraded or not). Those decks are Tron, UW control and Burn. There's only one matchup where Dovin's Veto is something I would want: UW Control which is a solid ~4% of the metagame. Someone tell me where I'm wrong.

Since when has Esper been the king of control mirrors?

Am I crazy for thinking Deathrite Shaman might actually not be horrible for Modern?

I never said Teferi is dead. The problem is that there are so many situations where dropping a Teferi doesn't really help. More often than not, you have to have already stabilized before you can drop it. It brings about a similar feeling of Jace, the Mind Sculptor in Modern They're uber powerful if you can get to the point where you can untap with it, but you have to get to that point! I've been playing other blue control builds with less copies of Teferi and more cantrips and control elements. It's been working really well so far.

I'm not currently playing Maelstrom Pulse at all.

EDIT: Ah ok. I would have to cut a Trophy.

I guess I didn't. There isn't much special about it.

I probably didn't need the basic Mountain in retrospect. What I noticed in the run up to the GP was that everyone seemed to be expecting a huge rise in big mana decks (specifically Tron) to combat Dredge. To beat a potential rise in Tron, people seemed to leaning heavily on aggro. I didn't really get it since I hadn't seen Tron numbers rising online or anywhere else. I did see a huge uptick in Burn and UR Phoenix decks though. I didn't see people playing the mono-red Phoenix variants but I was aware of them as well. That's why Kitchen Finks and Huntmaster seemed particularly useless. They do next to nothing impactful in other matches and aren't all that overwhelming against what I'm expecting. Collective Brutality, however, was a boss, and it was amazing throughout day 1. Day 2 the metagame shifted a bit. Even without a rise in aggro, I just don't think Kitchen Finks and Huntmaster are all that good any more. There isn't a single match up where I'm thinking, "Man, I wish I had a Finks right now." I really don't understand why Jadine is all aboard with it, and I'm glad it's kicking ass for her. That's just one train I refuse to get on until something changes.

Kitchen Finks sucks. It's relatively slow and mopey in the few matches I would be willing to bring it in. You could be on the brink by turn 3 on the draw against aggressive decks. Against slower and/or controlling decks, it's just a random 3/2 for 3-CMC. It's not exactly threatening. The same feelings extend to Huntmaster of the Fells too. I was glad I cut it completely. I added a third Collective Brutality to my sideboard in its place.

I would also consider at least 1 Grafdigger's Cage in your sideboard. There has been a resurgence of Collected Company decks as well as a high number of decks casting things from the graveyard (Dredge, Bridgevine, UR & mono-red Phoenix, Mardu Pyro and Snapcaster decks).

I'm really not sure why you're so high on Kolaghan's Command. I've rarely made good use of more than 1 per game unless I was playing against Affinity.

A huge two-thumbs-up for two Alpine Moon. I could've used them way more than the Nissa, Vital Force and Surgical Extraction that languished in my sideboard. I'm almost convinced that we shouldn't try to interact with graveyard strategies reactively. I feel a third Anger of the Gods makes more sense than ever sleeving up the first Surgical Extraction even if you're terrified of Dredge or UR (or mono-red) Phoenix.

Finally, I very much prefer the 25-land builds by a wide margin. I tested 24-land builds in the run up to GP Atlanta, and the consistency issues with openers and the initial few draws reared its ugly head again. I think I just prefer conservative consistency than slightly more explosive openers.

@chaos021 What was your record? Didnt know you were also playing at the GP.

Titanshift is indeed very rough. I believe its the worst matchup we have, even worse than Living End.

    Day 1 was 6-2. Ended up 9-6.

Both of my losses on day 1 were TitanShift. Day 2 I surprisingly lost to Humans twice, G Tron (just couldn't get the aggro starts) and Bant spirit (was really tight and just came down to top decks in game 3.
