Feb 3, 2014Jolote posted a message on Launch Giveaway!I have so many favorite cards, but if I needed to pick one it'd surely be Coiling Oracle. It's good in Pauper EDH, FR EDH, US EDH. In a nutshell, if you're playing EDH and has the simic combination in your color identity, you should be running him!Posted in: Announcements

Made many other modifications to the decklist. I will one day make this list optimal in my way, and I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to where I want it to be. Feel free to comment!
I'd also run Oblation since it's so good. Maybe Return To Dust also, gets the job done, and All Is Dust to replace that Toxic Deluge white doesn't have, it is so good. Leave all your artifacts okay but reaps everything else. I'd include Ghostly Prison, it is a must.
Finally, what's the point of running Scorched Ruins? I'd play High Market instead, especially with your life gain strategy.
I was also thinking about maybe playing Grove of the Burnwillows with Punishing Fire to get out Arena of the list since it doesn't produce any mana (which is always annoying me in all my games) but I'm really not sure at the moment.
What do you think about all that? Please let me know in the comments!
I don't like Ajani, apart from its second ability he seems bad, and I'm not running that many PWs. I have almost no ETB triggers to abuse with Parallax Wave, unfortunately. I'm not playing enough permanents to run Mistveil Plains, and I have no sacrifice cost/enabler for Martyr's Bond. Karmic Justice generally dos a better job than it. Weathered Wayfarer could replace the Bird of Paradise since I'm running only 1 of each basic, it has a lot of targets. Distorting Lens would be so good if it was like Painter's Servant. Unfortunately, it's not.
Marshal's Anthem is really interesting. The only problem I see is that I have so few ETB creatures so in the instant it doesn't do much, I have to have my other enchantments and/or creatures to synergies with the creatures I've just put back into play. But in the end he still gives +3+1 to all my creatures which isn't nothing.
I've updated the decklist with the most recent changes.
Abzan Beastmaster
I've looked at all cards that were interacting with the Toughness, rather than the power, for the sake of Jacque's unique ability. This one seems pretty good, being potentially 2/3 with Jacques, 3 should be enough to tie/win almost all of its trigger, generating draw advantage, while being a creature so I can beat down with it, trigger Purphoros, etc.
Outpost Siege
Its two abilities are just so good. The first one generates free damage after I wrath my own creatures, creating potential to kill multiple opponents with a massive board of creatures followed my a Blasphemous Act. The second ability offers some card advantage I'm truly missing in those colors, similar to Chandra.

Some wins include killing with all the burn spells combined with Purphoros and token generation. Also, Doubling Season and running 9 Planewalkers allows some funny ultimates the turn these come in. Elesh Norn combined with Aether Flash allows for me to control the board for every creatures with toughness inferior to 4. Opalescence is my last kill, turning all my enchantments into beaters, and with Asceticism, hexproof and regenerable beaters. All creatures have a special effect that interacts with Jacques and that rewards me when they're dealt damage.
At the moment, I'm ensure about :
-How I want to ramp. Is Skyshroud Claim and Nature's Lore enough? Would it be better to run the creature version of Nature's Lore, Wood Elves? Do I need more ramp? Would cutting a land for a ramp spell profitable?
-The number of damage spell I run. Beusapu's list runs way more X spells that enable paining your own creatures but I want to only run the best ones.
-The artifact/enchantment answers. While Aura Shards is easy to tutor and to abuse, I feel like it's not that strong in a deck that runs only 19 creatures. Also, while I love Titania's Song's text, it's a temporary solution if I don't find any damage effect.
14th January 2015
Pandemonium -> Outpost Siege
Pandemonium had a very good text but was somewhat awkward because of the numerous Planewalkers present in the deck. Outpost Siege fills a similar role while having an extra synergy with all the wraths I'm running, and adds a really needed card advantage option. The possibility of being able to choose between them is just too much powerful to ignore.
Titania's Song -> Sphere of Safety
In same order of idea, Titania's Song really shut down many of my artifacts and turned my opponents' into beaters that I can have difficulty managing with, especially since I'm so low on creatures. There is already enough artifact hate in the format without having to run this. Sphere of Safety goes in the same way of thinking that removing Pandemonium, which is protecting my Planewalkers.
Dauntless Escort -> Abzan Beastmaster
Abzan's text is just so unique with Jacques that I couldn't not put it into the decklist. Dauntless Escort will just always get some hate before it can be used properly while being a one-shot effect that's doesn't give an advantage as significant as possibly drawing two cards per turn.
High Market -> Yavimaya Hollow
High Market synergized only with the Academy Rectors and I taught that Yavimaya Hollow would be way more better since it can regenerate my creatures at instant speed, which is something I'm looking for with all my wraths, opponents' hate and the presence of Opalescence.
18th January 2015
Birds of Paradise -> Weathered Wayfarer
Birds of Paradise had no synergies whatsoever with the deck. I decided to cut this acceleration as Weathered would allow me to fetch way more crucial lands, like all the legendary ones I'm running that have an insane effect. Furthermore, Weathered sometimes allow me to keep a hand short on land and keep activating its ability to never miss land drops until someone misses some.
Wolfbriar Elemental -> Eternal Witness
Wolfbriar's kicker requires green mana and my deck isn't producing enough for this to be worth it. Without Gaea's Cradle, any accelerating artifacts and a mana base so diversified, it seemed like it'd be always bad. Eternal Witness, on the other hand, is a potentially 2/3 that does a Regrowth and triggers many of my enchantments when entering/leaving the battlefield.
Nature's Lore-> Hornet Nest
This one was a no brainer, since Hornet Nest's tokens are just inane. Flying AND deathtouch is just so big in this format. Furthermore, I never want to draw Nature's Lore late game and if I'm not running 10 of these it's not worth it running so few of them.
Skyshroud Claim -> Gideon Jura
Same goes with SkyShroud Claim. Gideon Jura, on the other hand, is just so powerful with Lightmine Field and the other punishing enchantments I'm running. Plus, with a good board state and the right blocking choices, I can wipe a player's creatures without even having to use their triggers.
Painlands -> Arena, Kessig Wolf Run, Krosan Verge
With 9 fetches, 6 duals, 3 filter, 3 spot lands, 3 basics, 2 any-color producing lands, I felt like I had enough mana fixing to permit running some utility lands. Arena lets me make some awesome fighting choices that always leave me killing a creature and triggering some of my creatures, when done at the correct time. Kessig Wolf Run lets me sink colorless mana in response of triggers checking the power of a creature, and even kill some players with X/1 token creatures. Finally, Krosan Verge took the place of Skyshroud Claim and Nature's Lore too. Being a land I can wait to activate its effect and tap it for mana while fetching all of my duals due to its unique text.
6th February 2015
Opalescence -> Marshal's Anthem
Opalescence was always awkward to play because it transformed all my most important pieces into easy-to-kill creatures. In top-deck mode, Opalescence wasn't itself a beater, it just made my further top decks more easy to get rid off. Marshal's Anthem add a +1/+1 to my creatures which an effect that I never want to avoid with the extra bonus of making my creatures come back from death, something I can't do easily with the deck and those colors.
Acorn Catapult -> Stony Silence
At the beginning I thought that Acorn's Catapult would be a great addition with multiple purposes. Truth is that I never drew it and never got to be able to use it. So when I got wrecked by artifact-themed decks, the switch was easy to make since all my other artifacts have board effect and sometimes activated abilities. The casting cost of Stony Silence is also lower, it's an enchantment, so it works better than artifacts in my general synergy.
Replenish -> Rest in Peace
I also got heavily wrecked by graveyard-based synergies so I decided I'd start running this enchantment that gets rid of everything in the graveyard so easily. It also has a lower casting cost, is an enchantment, an counter-synergizes with only 3 other cards in my deck.
Gruul Ragebeast -> Reclamation Sage
I only had two answers to artifacts and enchantments in the deck prior to this addition: Aura Shards and Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury. Aura Shards needs some creatures to work around and Freyalise doesn't solve any early-game problems. Reclamation Sage would be the perfect solution to this.
Fire Ants -> Seal of Primordium
I never got to really use Fire Ants efficiently. It always needed to have Jacques on the board to be somewhat useful without killing all my creatures. Seal of Primordium takes its place for some of the reasons I explained above.
26th February
Goblin Bombardement -> Decimate
Jacques was built for a multiplayer environment and it's where this card will shine the most. Being able to do 4-for-1 with this card is just insane and will always gave my massive advantage, unlike Goblin Bombardment that's in every was inferior to Purphoros and lacking creatures to sacrifice anyway.
18th March
Broodhatch Nantuko -> Assault Formation
Broodhatch is the worst of all my token producer triggered creatures. His toughness is so low that any damage will kill him so I can't block vanilla 1/1s and 2/2s with it unlike Hornet Nest and Saber Ants. Assault Formation is much more better, adding an enchantment, allowing the opposite of Purphoros's first ability and also permitting Hornet Nest to attack!
Karmic Justice -> Impact Tremors
Karmic Justice is always awkward to destroy. It'll get always spot removed with no value for you except that you chose to destroy one permanent. But Impact Tremors? Wow. A Purphoros for only two mana? Anytime, anywhere. Yes, I ill always fetch Purphoros before this but when Purphoros is forever gone or if I draw this first it'll do the job. Still, imagine that I have both in play.
Awakening Zone -> Courser of Kruphix
Easy change to made. Both are enchantments, but the second is so much better. Can attack, defend my PWs with its 6 of toughness while Jacques is in play and still kind-of ramp when I have no lands in hand and one on top of my deck. Also make me gain life which is always welcomed with the land base I'm running, Sylvan Library, Molten Disaster, etc.
Reclamation Sage -> Act of Authority
This was introduced as a solution to the enchantments/artifacts I have difficulty with. Now I'm able to swtich it out for this replacement that's much better. One more enchantment for the sake of Serra's Sanctum and my new friend Myth Realized.
Tamanoa -> Ajani Steadfast
This creature always seemed to do close to nothing unless I had Pyrohemia or Purphoros. But without those cards it's just a vanilla creature, so I'm switching it out for Ajani Steadfast. His 3 abilities are all awesome and will replace Tamanoa's life gain by giving lifelink to a big potato that's also first strike and vigilance.
Eldrazi Monument -> Ajania Vengeant
I most of the time I have no creatures except a few utility and/or Jacques so I never really get use of this. Instead of keeping it in my hand I'll replace it with another Ajani that should add a little bit of control to the deck. More creature answers and threat delaying will buy me time to find real solutions.
Spear of Heliod -> Myth Realized
The spear was always so bad. I would play it than never use its ability and just waste my turn 3 on it. I feel that Myth Realized will be a great addition while having the same cost in one of its abilities, and allowing me to sink mana in it with Serra's Sanctum.
22th March
Abzan Beastmaster -> Council's Judgement
Although I really like Abzan Beastmaster, its problem is that if I don't draw it very early it's most of the time useless because someone somewhere on the table has a fattie bigger than him, even with Jacques, so I get no value out of him. On the other hand, Council's Judgement synergies with Myth Realized (Always!) will being a much better three-mana drop than Beastmaster. Also gets rid of problematic creatures like Avacyn, Angel of Hope and much others.
Seal of Primordium -> Titania's Song
Seal of Primordium is a one-shot effect that leaves almost no value, and now that I run Council's Judgement and Act of Authority, I feel comfortable enough to leave it out and play Titania's Song, especially since I lowered my artifact count to one. Titania's Song is so flavorful, so unique, it has never seen any play before and has an awesome art to finish with.
Molten Disaster -> Savage Twister
With some many people playing flying creatures and the upcoming dragons, Savage Twister seemed more appropriate than Molten, especially since it hits every creatures and not players. Th only person in my playgroup that uses Counterspells uses Morph, which gets around Split Second anyway.
Chandra, Pyromaster -> Commune with Lava
Chandra is good but her third ability is just so useless. I only use her at 90% of the time for her second ability and in some very rare cases for her first ability. It felt right to exchange it with Commune with Lava, whose better and very well worded, since I can cast it at my turn and still get two whole turns to play all of my cards.
29th march
Impact Tremors -> Peacekeeper
I thought that a second mini-Purphoros would be great but one damage isn't relevant in most cases. That, plus the others abilities of Purphoros that Impact Tremors hasn't ( boost the attack, and attack himself) made me remove it. In its place I chose Peacekeeper, who totally denies any attack on me or my Planeswalkers at a small cost, which is awesome. With Asceticism I also have the means to protect it for a long time.
Rite of Passage -> Soul Snare
Problem with Rite of Passage it that it isn't worded like Vigor, which means everything that's 1/1 will still die, and most other creatures will too when blocking or whatever else. Unless I have it with Pyrohemia and my creatures are 2/2s or Jacques is in play, it's always not very good. Soul's Snare, on the other hand, bring a funny and good political side to the deck, while being worded well enough to protect my Planeswalkers.
Warstorm Surge -> Mana Reflection
Warstorm Surge is just so bad in multiplayer, even if it targets. I can't never really use it and it costs so much mana, it just overwhelmed me in all of my games. But, I always loved Mirari's Wake so I felt that a second effect like it would perfectly fit in the curve.
Bow of Nylea -> Mystic Barrier
Bow of Nyela has 5 different abilities, but they are all so bad. I just never used it, nor I used one of its 4 abilities in all my matches. Plus I don't want to run any artifacts with Stony Silence of Titania's Song. After removing it, I was looking for something that would defend my Planeswalkers (Always) and found Mystic Barrier. Can't believe cards like that exist! It's just so good in all the multiplayers games I do. Yes, it will be bad when we're only 1 vs 1 but will probably have made me get there by then.
AEther Flash -> Heliod, God of the Sun
Each time I get AEther Flash I feel like it's too late for it. By turn 4, everything that has little toughness is already in play and it has no more value. It would need to be written like a Leyline to truly shine. By removing it I could add Heliod because his tokens doesn't die anymore if I don't have Elesh Norn in play. Furthermore, they're enchantments themselves, so they count towards Serra's Sanctum, Eidolon of Blossoms, Sphere of Safety, etc.
Arena -> Wasteland
I never wanted to tutor Arena. I never wanted to activate Arena unless I had the board on my side. It's just a win-more card that doesn't tap for mana, which hurts a deck that almost curves at 4. Wasteland is only there to fill its spot; I could go back to 37 lands, or maybe switch it for a land with more value.
What do you think? Let me now in the comments!
For the part where you interrupted the game, I'd advise to ask the players to pause their game while you call for the Judge/TO/Whoever is trusted with rulings.
