The 17th player was on grinding station.

Isn't Grinding Station defined by having extra Tendrils? This looks like ANT with SDTs instead of Preordains.
The 2 Dark Petitions is interesting.

Legacy players rarely have the same deck, let alone just play a deck that likes to try and win ASAP (such as Storm).

That may be true for storm variants like Belcher and TES, but that doesn't really apply to ANT or Doomsday. Both those decks tend to play a slower game to be more resilient fighting through hate instead of winning through blinding speed.

Anyway I play Legacy almost exclusively but I'm going to give standard a shot when Origins comes out. The Piledriver reprint has piqued my interest and I figure Goblins shouldn't be too expensive.

This is far worse than Grim Tutor as you cannot bait with this card. If Spell Mastery made it cost 3 less, then WOW. It doesn't though and will ALWAYS cost 5.

That's a very good point. I think it's still worth testing though.

Hm... I don't really see it in Legacy, as the primary deck that could cast it with Spell Mastery would be Ad Nauseam Tendrils, and they can't really afford to flip a five off of Ad Nauseam.

The thing is ANT is more of a Past in Flames deck than an Ad Nauseam deck, many versions have already cut AN from the main and moved it to the board.

Dark Petition is definitly worth testing in ANT. Bad synergy with Ad Nauseam but IT 5-6 is sweet. Plus it's hard to stop it with Countertop unless they have FOW on top, and if they're floating that it's a bad situation anyway.

    Its $100
(not counting tcg or ebay, those don't count)

And a couple weeks ago. Not in Modern Masters combined with modern season and a few choice buyouts.
Being a multi format all star helps too.

TCG and eBay should certainly count because there is no reason to buy the card for more at your LGS if you can get it for $20 cheaper online.

I think you underestimate how many people don't even buy online. Scg sets the market price, they are sold out at 100. Almost every local store has it at 90-100. The odd person grinding ebay listings, bidding and getting it at 85, plus waiting 2 weeks does not reflect any real numbers at all.

For all intents and purposes the card is $100.

You don't have to grind ebay, about 2 seconds on tcgplayer will get you a way better deal than $100

The game is supposed to continue through time with new cards coming out every few months. You want to go back in time and get a Tarmogoyf in a $3 booster? Tough luck, you weren't playing yet at that point. There will be new great, fun cards to play with in the current sets and the yet-to-be released sets that you can get in on. This is how it's supposed to be, how it always was.

Except you don't decide how it's supposed to be. WOTC does. And that's not how it always was, There's been reprints since the beginning. I can't believe I'm even replying to this thread.

There is nothing I would love more than having my deck completely invalidated for 3 months.

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing there is a bug then, the situation was specifically an Infernal Tutor I cast when I was not hellbent and had another Tutor in hand, luckily I had enough mana to go through tutoring for the other tutors till none were left. There was no option to click ok where it normally is. Time to go report this.

Is there any way on MTGO to fail to find when using a tutor? Came across a situation where I wanted to do so but I couldn't figure out how. It would seem strange to me if the rules for that situation worked differently in real life than online.

You should definitly be running Careful Studys, Entomb alone is not enough. You can safely cut about 3 lands, 18 lands and 3 Lotus Petals is too many slots devoted to mana in a deck with such a low curve. Maybe cut a Probe to fit the last Study in. I would take from the basic lands as you want to maintain a high enough density of fetchlands to work with Brainstorm.

    Hey guys,

Most of my friends have started playing legacy/have legacy decks, so I was trying to figure out if I want to get into the format. I was looking for suggestions in terms of what deck to play. I realize that legacy is a very complicated format, and only a select few decks are Tier 1 at any given point, but I still would like to play a deck that is at least reasonably high tier 2 in so far that it can take down larger tournaments when piloted well. I plan on proxying the deck first before trying to assemble it, but I still would like to know where to start before I invest time into it. First thing, as mentioned, I want to play a deck that is reasonably competitive. Second, I don't want to play anything too fragile, i.e. a deck that straight-up folds to a Hymn/Force of Will/Grafdigger's cage/Pithing Needle. I also love playing green. It's what I know. It's what I do best. I don't like playing decks that rely too heavily on combo, but I'm not entirely averse to it. I play Modern extensively, and I've played Pod since its inception and I've never looked back. Among my choices, I've taken a look at Elves, Punishing Jund, BUG/RUG Delver, Lands, and Infect, although my spectrum certainly isn't limited to those decks.

It sounds like you're looking for Elves to me

Personally I never want to go below 4 Reanimates maindeck but I find myself siding them out alot more than I used too, and I did add a copy of Animate Dead to the main. Against UR delver I want as much life as possible for Griselbrand. If you play Sphinx it probably doesn't matter as much.

is Pact of Negation any good for this deck?

Discard is better, counterspells don't play well with Lion's Eye.
