E&T worst matchups are, I do think, BGx midrange and Grixis (specially BGx, they kill all of our creatures with cheap removal and plays really big threats/planeswalkers with cheap mana). I would like to improve my matchup against those (and maybe against elfs) with those 2 free slots, I have tested 2 Lingering Souls but they dont do the job, they are good but are usually chump blockers. Any card for those 2 slots that can battle the big card advantage that those BGx / Grixis decks have, as well as the card advantage that company decks have?
Run souls instead if you want to pressure your opponent, displacer is much better used on their creatures or TKS/sculler/strangler
I run 3 souls on the SB, I prefer them there than on the MB. They are good though. But maybe 3 souls on SB are too many, I may switch 1 souls for 1 elspeth.
I am fond of Thalia 2.0 over Blade Splicer. Thalia provides the same 3 power First Strike body and is not at all a dead draw in the lategame. People underestimate her taxing creatures imho. Disabling hasty creatures and chumpblockers makes closing out the game much more easier. However that is my opinion. I played the 1/1 split a little while ago, but not for long. There might be others with more experience on that case.
Yeah, I thought something like that. Ill run Thalia for the tax, I feel like I need her along the little old Thalia and Leonin Arbiter to complete my tax game while I unleash the eldrazi power.
Im thinking about 2 Thalia HC or 2 Blade Splicer on my BWc E&T list. I do think that Thalia adds another tax that can race aggro decks and win against combo, but maybe she is a bad draw at late game. Blade Splicer is good on the full game and its pretty nice with 4 Displacer, but doesnt add a tax and, if we can use displacer effect over and over again, we might be already winning the match with or without splicer. Thoughts?
Guys, remember things about Strangler:
-Is eldrazi. Eldrazi Temple.
-Has no color. Etched champion and other color protection tricks.
-Is great to process the card that Sculler or even Flickerwisp exiled, and is not that card with a vial.
Some players think that playing a midrange style (remove arbiter, choosing top-decks over interactions/synergy, etc) is good, but I think that is wrong.
D&T/E&T wins by tempo (E&T may win by disruption synergy, too), but if you wanna win by card advantage/good cards, you better play a midrange deck. Dark Confidant, Blade Splacer, that Aetherborn Warrior... may be better than Leonin Arbiter, Thalia HC and Wasteland Strangler. But when you GQ the opponent lands and he finds too much fetchs with a Leonin in play, when your opponent has a slow hand and you have Thalia HC, when you have a Flickerwisp/Sculler + Strangler in hand... those are things that can take a game. Thats the power of this deck, tax our opponent with synergyes advantage to a point where he/she cant win.
Also thinking about including 1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant in the SB (I prefer her over Gideon because of the second skill, targeting a Seer with that does so much damage). Thoughts?
I have to thank your help, I started playing MTG in year 2003 but did not have money to build a real deck (played with proxies and on cockatrice until now), I built a Skred Red deck and won my first FNM with it since I tested the deck for 1 and a half years, but Skred was not what I really wanted to play and I recently selled all of it. D&T is my kind of deck, and I love the Eldrazi build cause it fix the hand disruption problem that I had with D&T. Now Im waiting for my full sideboard and 1 resto. angel to arrive and start playing MTG for real
Haha, thanks to both, @mightybenno and @Jendo87, now I have two ways:
1- 2x Thalia, Heretic Cathar and 1x Blade Splicer
2- 2x Relic of Progenitus and 1x Restoration Angel
Both ways would be good I think, maybe it changes the matchups of the deck.
I think that 1st way would be better against infect, affinity, control, tron and combo.
2nd way would be better against dredge, jund, grixis and most graveyard decks.
Is 4 Seer and 1 Angel a possibility? I own all the cards that you said, so its no problem to test, just unsure what to sleeve up first
Thanks!
So, I have 3 spots for Splicer and Thalia HC, and I dont know if 2 Thalia HC would be better than 2 Splicer (against the overall meta). I have seen the 1/1 split, but I think it doesnt work that good. Maybe 2 Thalia HC and 1 Splicer? I thought about -1 Displacer to have 2 Splicer and 2 Thalia, too, but Displacer is too strong as a 4-of in a WB build...
Your thoughts? I can read suggestions about other creatures and about my list, too thanks!
I do think the so called "stock" EnT list lacks flyers, there's not all chance that we can fight stuff on the ground these days with things like tasigurs goyfs, other eldrazi, we can stall out the early game but still need to chip in damage, I really think having a large amount of Selfless Spirits or Lingering souls in the main is where we want to be, we aren't a turn 4 kill deck, so we want to be able to achieve a lock and make sure we clock in a reasonable time.
This is why I suggested Rest. Angel. Think this would be a good set of creatures for BW Eldrazi?
Also, -1 Thought-Knot Seer +1 Angel may work too, but the disruption of the Seer can win games and is a great help against combo and control, along with sculler.
Thoughts against the overall meta? 2 Angel 3 Seer, 1 Angel 4 Seer? I only have to order 2 Godless Shrine and the Angel to complete the deck and start playing it IRL, so it would be a great help if experienced players with Angel and Seer can give me his/her thoughts before I order, 1 or 2 angels?
You need taxing creatures (Thalia, Arbiter, Mindcensor), disruption creatures (Tidehollow Sculler, Thought-Knot Seer, Wasteland Strangler...), or value ETB creatures (Displacer, Blade Slicer, Flickerwisp, Restoration Angel...).
There is not space for more in BW E&T, IMO.
After a time testing the WB Eldrazi and Taxes list, I understood 2 things.
1. Its more disruption than tempo (Arbiter, Displacer, Sculler, Thought-knot, SB removal...). So, when building a mono-W D&T I do have tempo in mind, but when building a BW E&T build I have disruption in mind; I have won more games with this build by depleting my opponent hand and not letting him draw/target my creatures than building a fast tempo (ofc, Leonin + GQ in a good tempo game can win the match alone).
2. Thought-Knot Seer maybe not that good at a 4-of. It sure is a beast, but once our opponent has only lands in hand, or maybe 1/2 instants, Thought-Knot is "only" a 4/4 that can make our opponent draw a card.
So, what are your thoughts? Btw, I think this build can do pretty things.
1 Relic of Progenitus
1 Stony Silence
1 Kataki, War's Wage
2 Blessed Alliance
1 Fatal Push
1 Celestial Purge
1 Orzhov Pontiff
1 Sin Collector

I do think that my E&T list is not that bad. Thoughts?

If so, a change from WB E&T to WB D&T + SFM equipment pack is viable?
-Is eldrazi. Eldrazi Temple.
