If it can help, my experience with finks is that: 2 are enough for D&T. The purpose of finks is hating on removal and little and fast creatures, and in a minor way, giving us some life. At the time you face 'goyfs, anything with more than 3 thougness or first strike, kitchen is only there for giving us an extra blocker. The main reason to run it is because it is hard to kill and give life, effects that are not primary in our game but help. We would like to run more than 2 if we dont have flickerwisp or restoration, but with 4 flickerwisp and maybe a few resto for re-use it... like I said before, I think that 2 are enough.
1. The vial will be always at 3, and I prefer to pay 4+ mana for resto angel or activate vault. Plus rhyno does not give any hate.
2. I tested them and more removals do not works well. The point of D&T is filling the table with efficient creatures while hating on the opponent too. That removals do not fill our table, it was nice testing when I killed a few creatures but.. I were not adding hate to my game, so it was simply a 1 card exchange between me and the other player.
3. GQ:
-Searchs for my swamp if im not drawing black, in a need.
-Kills manlands without using path to exile.
-Goes well against tron.
About Path to exile... really? why not using the playset of the best removal in modern? its the only removal that I dont care if it isnt a creature, PtE is just amazing.
You will thank a GQ in game if u have to kill a man land or while in need of 1 colour u are missing.
4. Its a surprise. At, maybe, T2 opponent wasnt able to transform delver and atack with it? fetch and, surprise, a 1/1 is there to kill the delver/whatever that is X/1 (LOTS in modern). At late game, that lone dryad can kill a tarmogoyf blocking it and activating vault.
5. Like I said, it kills young pyro, grim, master of waves, a lot of affinity creatures, vendilion, opposing thalia, flicker, blade splicer etc, tokens... etc. Its my removal made creature, the 2 things that make it a main is: I can choose. Giving 2 options, +1/+1 at mine creatures, and -1/-1 at opposing creatures, gives a lot of plays with this deck, I mean, A LOT. What if I cast it with vial then flick it with resto while atacking? +2/+2 to all my creatures makes a nice finisher, or maybe I can -2/-2 opponent to kill a lot of his table. The second thing is that, lol, I can do it again with Haunt, and targeting a kitchen finks/qasali is great for this.
Hi everyone, first time posting on D&T thread, I would like to post here the current deck I'm testing and building.
Some of you, maybe all of you, wont like a lot of things about it: Arbiters dont being there, 3 colors, loxodon smiter...
but the idea of the deck is some of hate bears but with vials, no hierarchs and ETB tricks, so I think is more a D&T than a HB.
Im wining a lot with it on cockatrice, I'm never missing any of the colours (maybe sometimes not enough green for feeding Scooze).
It has a lot of hate effects in many ways, and I go with the loxodons for beaters just because it hates the counters/discarding/bolts.
I use the tidehollow sculler too for just looking at the hand of my opponent at T2 and, maybe, exile a removal. And at mid/late I can do shenanigans with flicker/sculler too. The Orzhov pontiff just rapes young pyros/grim lava, master of waves, lot of affinity creatures, tokens, etc... plus it can be a finisher or a combat surprise if I need it, too.
About lands, my 2 stirrings kills a lot of delvers and the vault of archangel won some late games.
Are you guys runing the 4 Qasali? I had no problem against Bogle, 2-0 it without using SB. And I think I wont have problems with affinity, Qasali are great against this two pairings along with Witness for making it come back. Also im running 2 Abrupt Decay at main, plus Maelstrom Pulse at SB. If you dont have the Qasali playset, I will tell you to get it for MB. But I can be wrong, Im not a pr0 player, but this 4 kittys helps me a lot.
Vegantoad, why not runing the 4 Razorverge? they're great lands for this deck. And why not test 1 Stirring wildwood?
I think your lands should look like this:
So, I hope I can buy the 2 hierarch someday. -2 Vial +2 Hierarch, now its just the same chances of T1 CC1, but now I have a better mid/late with hierarchs. And since it have 2 Vials only, for mid-late, I think I can cut 1 Flicker and go with 1 Kitchen Finks more, so jund/agressive/control pairings will be way better with the 2 lingerings and 3 kitchen finks. I see the Rhyno a great creature, but while testing I had 2-3 lands at late game (GC, gemstones and Canopy have short duration), but the great thing is that I dont need more. I removed my 2 Restoration from the deck because 4CC is too much.
But if someday I feel that I need a good finisher, Rhyno will be a great option.
So, I have tested the mana sources and had no problem with that: the gemstones and the swamp if opponent paths me are enough. And, if I get a opening hand with bad lands, well... that can happen with 4 GH 2 Tect. too.
The problems I found testing were against full agro decks. Now I have 1 black mana source more, scullers go to SB and I welcome lingering souls, they are great against jund, agro and control.
About the Noble Hierarch... well: I had to gather money around 1 month for buying the 4 Loxodon. Noble hierarch are impossible to me.
What im thinking now is about -1 Thalia +1 Kitchen Finks, but I think with lingerings and loxodon I have enough agro, and -1 Thalia would +1 CC3 would add more CC to the deck, plus she is great against control and combo.
At first, hi to everyone, I think this is the first time I post in this forums.
I would like to post the deck Im currently building here and ask for your thoughts, I personally think is solid and competitive, however it surely can be improved. It is kind of death and taxes, but I think it should be posted here.
PD: I wont run Hierarch because of my low cost creatures plus my budget, I think I dont need her.
Hi!
Im new at this forums, new too at MTG tournaments, but not new at MTG.
At first, greetings and sorry for my bad english.
I readed a lot of deck suggestions in this mtgsalvation forums, so I decided to post here my modern deck and listen what can you say about it, if you please.
Thanks!
PD: There's a creature, Young Pyromancer, that will be new at M14.
Nah Im not going tribal, I have a lot of no-humans creatures, but thanks for the suggestion.
