Thanks for the replies, I may just open a few for fun and sell off the rest.

Sorry for my initial post, in hindsight it looks hideous.

So I am no "pro" at MTGO, play casually n such. Took a break since Modern Masters was released and have now returned.

I mostly play standard and vintage (or whatever mode allows me to use any m-fing card). Thinking of getting into commander mode and some other odd modes. Have a decent collection going but not too much in standard.

What would you do with 20 MMA boosters? Sell? Open? Keep for longer time? I paid 6.99$ per booster back when. I posted here a long time ago asking a similar question (hijacking a thread that is now locked) and it was suggested "maybe even draft with them for fun, even if it is 4/6 man draft", I don't think that is an option anymore?

Now the reason why I have 20 boosters, well... impulses can be tricky at times.

I appreciate the input from those with the wisdom.

Why not just start a twitch channel instead?

Oh I know this is all next to meaningless. Just something I "want". The replies I have gotten already are good enough for what I expected with such a small issue.

As far as twich goes, not trying to allow others to watch but to encourage my friends who stopped playing to notice me playing it often and or to show them I am currently in another game. Nor am I good enough to where someone would want to watch my awesome gameplay.

I suppose others don't see anything else than "wintendoze is playing MTGO" or can you see more than that?

I noticed that it pops up for a moment on steam saying I am playing MTGO, then as soon as the "launcher" stuff goes away and the final client loads/login page. Steam goes back to nothing (doesnt show MTGO).

Its not the end of the world but that is mostly the purpose I wanted it to serve. What you said is what I hoped to have happen, nothing more than displaying MTGO next to my name.

It's caused by this weird net framework stuff.
But I found workaround. After you created shortcut in steam, RMB on it>properties>change> and find the shortcut in start menu folder:
(change File Type from Program Files (*.exe) to All files (*.*)
""C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Wizards of the Coast\Magic The Gathering Online.appref-ms" or something like that

This has worked, I appreciate the reply! Though the icon that I am playing something disappears as soon as it actually loads. It is what it is.

The purpose for this is to show on steam when I am playing MTGO so that others can join or see my gloriousness (mostly vanity).

  • posted a message on Adding MTGO Beta to Steam - Crashes Loading
Cross posting this from the official forums because for some reason after a day of waiting I dont expect a reply. Sorry and thanks in advance if someone can assist.

Wondering if there is a way to resolve adding the new MTGO client to steam as a non-steam game? I am able to add the shortcut file from: C:\Users\XNAMEX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Wizards of the Coast\ shortcut name

In steam it shows the shortcut as: "C:\Users\XNAMEX\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\Q1P3KBQG.L2T\Z33B3G9Z.0A6\mtgo..tion_1ad988e60282d0d8_0003.0004_96aad23f25367a5a\MTGO.exe"

Adding that MTGO.exe instead of the shortcut results in the same error when loading normally without steam.

It adds to steam fine but then when loading it shows an error and fails:

Here is the actual error from the debug:

Sorry if this is the wrong spot but I put a bid on a card, may or may not win but time is running low. The more I wait the more I second guess myself if this is an Alpha or Beta card.

Contacted seller and they say they have no idea, selling it for someone else. They suggest cancelling my bid but hell if I know how lol.. Thanks for any assistance.

Usually anything at least reasonably attractive - like Alpha Regrowth - on ebay gets bids in the last seconds, so based on your $30 estimate I seriously doubt you'll get it at $10.

I assumed as much, just kinda tinkering around and figured if no one does bid then I get it cheapo and I am on my way... Just wanted to check if my thought process is good.

Also, from what I have noticed is that all Alpha cards have two white dots at the bottom left and bottom right. How come I dont hear anyone mention this in a way to tell what a card is? I am guessing some Alpha dont have that?

  • posted a message on Lust for Alpha
After some time thinking I have begun taking small steps (ebay) on looking at alpha cards and see'ing if I can get them at a cheap discount (quality to me doesn't mean a ton except for perhaps the p9 cards).

For example, I found Regrowth supposedly in very good condition starting at 9.99 with 3 shipping. I put in a 10 bid and am currently winning (no telling if I will win in the end). So if I win I am guessing it will be a $13 card. Looking at magiccards.info and starcitygames the card goes for $30 in crap condition and only goes up. Seems like a good deal to me if I can get it at $13? (assuming quality is good and seller is legit).

Am I doing this right so far?

Congrats! I opened 5 of them and did not notice anything amazing (no Goyf but I didn't verify the rest). Was going to keep the 20 packs unopened and attempt to sell them later on (paid retail). Or perhaps I'll break them open as the temptation is there.

A bit off topic but it reminded me. I have kept ~20 booster packs from MM and haven't been following much about the set. Now that time has passed, was it a good or bad idea? (I just did it on a whim)

I used the following site to assist me in finding specific lands, perhaps it can be of use.

Other than that, I would go by sets and look at the lands and save them myself and make my own collage!

    I would be highly suspicious.

The card itself I am no expert so Ill leave that up for others.

So...if you want to buy a set of alpha or beta, somebody is selling a full set of alpha for 32 and beta for 24. Lemme know if interested and I can point you their way (disclaimer: not advertising, these aren't my cards - just helping out the OP). You will likely spend less time (and money) getting a set vs singles if that's the direction you are heading towards.

I just cant justify it, as much as I want too. I appreciate the chance though and if anything changes well see if I remember this.
