It's the main advantage from my pov. I would welcome even more reduction in product variety, although not at the cost of price increase.

Of course, it's incredibly hard to come up with actually good original dishes, so I guess this would always be out of scope for franchise-based cookbooks.

i don't think they are meant to be original dishes. it's rather just a coffe table book that is suposed to be browsed and invoke warm feelings that they found something that evokes spirit of particular guild, character etc. with cheesy name. not actual cookbook.
from the screens it seemsvlike they have some amout of flavor (pun intended), could have done better but also could have done much worse.

I was not commenting on financial value, rather usability of those cards in actual gameplay.

Emmy is indeed played in 4c control but its a deck that surfaced again only after WOE release, it's single copy, in sideboard, and only in some of the lists for 4c control. So fringe appearances in comparison to rest of the SL.

Edit: I had a closer look at the higher res art, and the instruments look less AI generated than I thought at first.

Check the article I linked. There is comment from Avon regarding scene on the artwork. I was not aware about Avon working with some photomanipulation but you might be very much spot on with your initial guess - maybe he painted over photo with a watch on and did not realized that. By the way those are renders so a lot of the details will be lost on physical cards. I'm not sure people will be able to see the connection to the flavor text at all.

Aggregated data from last two months from all events show representation for rdw at ~10%, multiple decks with black running playsets of sheoldred amounting to ~20%, 5c at ~10%. Excluding smaller events makes this ~5% for rdw, ~40% for decks running 4x sheoldred and ~10% for 5c and esper each. Decreasing the window to last two weeks for all events shows something in between results from those two timeframes. Soooo there really is a question from where your "Red is clearly the best deck no question" comes from. Hmmm?

As a casual modern player, can I ask you what changed in 2019 exactly that make you so upset?

latest modern masters. the format is currently based around free spells, nearly free spells and ragavan. meta is very hostile to anything less than the most afficient decks. being on the draw puts you far behind if only because of the number of times this means facing t1 monke.
this also made prices of cards from mm to be prohibitively high so financial barrier to entry is impossible for new players to overcome.

sadly reprinting ragavan in mom seems to indicate this will not change anytime soon.

they are beggining to scrape the bottom of the barrel. not only most of the cards is not played in any format but also the art styles are getting repetitive.
they clearly are not overprinting products. not at all. /s

yes and yes. chancellor allows you to circumvent timing restrictions so you can do both things. note that some instant/sorceries might impose casting restrictions by themselves that will prevent you from casting them or there might be static effects that will also prevent such shenanigans.

I don't see why pact is not bannable. It should not be introduced to the format in the first place. Not only does it not work correctly but also it was obvious what will happen when it will be introduced into historic.

They said a few times that this wasn't the full schedule as they where finalizing some stuff and wanted to wait for a few others to be announced closer to 2025/2026.

I mean on a single-consumer level, ignoring this doesn’t hurt anyone. But the raised - and valid - concern, is that WotC is clearly printing cards for direct resale based on their secondary market value. Which raises all sorts of red flags people are well within their rights to discuss - be it WotC losing the support of the companies that sustain the secondary market (and buy tonnes of product they might stop buying if they lose faith in their supplier undercutting them with reprints), to concerns that WotC might now deliberately withhold reprints from randomized sets to make secondary market prices go up so they can issue high dollar value reprints direct.


These are discussionworthy concerns whether any single consumer is saying yes or no with their wallet to this instance.

Maybe if the packs weren't $10 and were only $7 at max, boxes were 36 packs instead of 24, and they wouldn't upgrade card rarities just because of their price then maybe people would actually enjoy them outside of drafting, oh and if drafting wasn't $30-$50. Specifically IMA wasn't "iconic" in many ways and in no way deserved to have $10 packs with how little was actually in it.

He says that they get better with each iteration, but considering we haven't had a Masters sets be as good as the MM1 that proves that little saying completely wrong.

I still have a TON of issues with the master set lines

1) the cost to produce is unchanged but the MRSRP is jacked sky high.
2) good draft cards != money cards. There is nothing about Tarmogoyf that says it should be a mythic. In fact, its kind of weak in a limited format to the point I would actually say you could downgrade its rarity to uncommon as far as drafting is concerned. If you look back to the first modern masters they had a bunch of rebels for instance which were FANTASTIC in limited and a good example of strong draft fodder.

My issue with these sets is that they try to JAM value cards and cross them with a draft format. You could make a really great draft format that is not using ***** for money cards and instead charge $2-4 per pack and let people draft the hell out of it instead of trying to cover reprints and call it a draft set. I am all for getting more prints to people but I just cannot get behind the money train of a product that the masters sets have been. Make a real drafting set and charge a low MSRP for it or try to drop the prices of some of these damn expensive high demand cards please. Masters sets on average do a terrible job of dropping the prices of a lot of these cards and cost too damn much for a draft set. If you ask me, these sets fail to meet any demand that we have as they keep prices constant and cost far more than a draft set should.

I think it's one of the two new planeswalker in the planeswalker deck replacing intro deck, she won't be in the set, like chandra pyrogenius, i thing it,s a good idea wizard had to give unique planeswalker only available in intro deck....sure its basic, but its intro deck
