Strange men riding on horses distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Love the monty python reference, in addition we did not vote for Marchesa (or Brago for that matter).

Monarch seems to be the only thing you *don't* vote for on Fiora, ironically.

A big problem with the story now is that the heroes never lose. The entire Dominaria storyline (from Alpha to Apocalypse and to a lesser extent Time Spiral) is full of death, losses and intrigue. Not only that but Urza only succeeded in offing Yawgmoth, not Phyrexia as a whole so it wasn't the same type of victory as "We nuked two titans with Channel + Fireball and everything is fine".

The stories now have no weight.

Elspeth died in theros didn't she?

Elspeth died in the one plane that has an underworld. It's unfortunately likely to not actually be a permanent death.

I mean, there's still room for 1 Sword. Maybe they'll troll us with Sword of Vengeance or Sword of the Paruns.

Actually, Sword of the Paruns seems pretty good with a board full of Squadron Hawks...

Sword of the Paruns confirmed for the last Mythic Rare spot

Vampire Hexmage and Dark Depths aren't ruled out yet are they? Would be interesting to see that combo triggered in draft.

    Yeah, they still fit.

Why am I going to pay extra money to draft something like this when I can get the exact same card in a much cheaper, much more available, Standard draft? Why would I pay 30 to 35 bucks to end up with a deck full of Giant Tortoise and Worldgorger Dragon?

We will have to agree to disagree and move on. Smile

I mean, I want to draft EMA because outside of cube I'm not going to even have the chance to draft Worldgorger combo in my life. It's a unique draft environment you won't find in a standard legal set.

But yeah, let's move on, I'm gonna go see how much a foil Giant Tortoise is going to cost me.

I don't understand the complaint here. What random early game blue blocker that costs enough to be worth putting in the boosters were you hoping for Wizards to print at common?

Flying Men and Delver of Secrets come to mind right off the top of my head for early game Blue creatures. Give me a few minutes and I'll find some more. Smile

Those don't fill the stated goal of including Giant Tortoise. They needed an early game blocker. Delver and Flying Men wouldn't do that job.

I wouldn't complain if this were in any non-special set. Guess what guys? This isn't spoiler for the new Standard rotation. This is a premium level product.

Well, yeah. This is much too complicated to be legal in standard.

Notable options between Daze and Diminishing Returns:

    Deceiver Exarch
    Delver of Secrets

We could also get Deep Analysis in that spot.

Delver seems unlikely unless they show off more double-sided cards.

Pay 10 for a booster, get a foil Giant Tortoise.

You say that like it's a bad thing

Why don't you think it could be Xantid Swarm? That is a card that see's Legacy Play, more so than Wordly Tutor

We've seen Vampiric, Gamble and Enlightened; it only makes sense that they would finish the cycle with Worldly and Mystic.

Seems likely, but Xantid Swarm isn't actually out yet. The borders between colors here are all just guesses, Xantid could be 194 and Worldly could be 193.

    edited to fix the alphabet

    Boros Charm

Does that see Legacy/Vintage play? I thought it was just Modern.
If it does, it's the best fit for that spot.

    does not make sense:
-sees no play outside of edh.

    -is not worth that much.

I will concede your other points, but we got a reprint of Worldgorger Dragon and control magic.

Anyway, looking at what fits, we might see:
    Brago
    Captain Sisay
    Cavern Harpy

Honestly those are the only ones that really stand out as things that would make any amount of sense.
I'm thinking Cavern Harpy then, it sees a little fringe legacy play, right?
are all as likely as your guesses, and i don't know many of legends' goodies... (Cavern harpy is a great guess though, but this slot has to be psychatog)

Wouldn't Dack's Duplicate go after Dack?
There's no way Coalition Victory gets printed, it's not playable in any of the formats this is supporting.
    I don't think we'll see any Slivers, but it's possible I guess.
Castigate is feasible, depending on what the WB archetype is.

    Boggart Ram-gang?
    Makes sense for drafting purposes

That's hybrid, wouldn't fill that slot.
