I like Electrolyze and play 2 on my Compulsive Research (0 Gifts) build. The best part of it is that you can just cycle it for a card when it's dead, contrary to Repeal. That said, it's a bit color intensive and I've been thinking about 1-2 Magma Jet instead.
Oh! Yeah, Magma Jet does seem a little better to me. I'll slip it in next time I play some (might not be for a while, I'm neck deep in a new MMO atm :D).
how about electrolyze? did you try it with 2-3 electrolyze to maximize being pro active?
I tried 2 Electrolyze MD (couldn't have cut more things to fit four even if I wanted to, really). They effectively never did anything for me. Occasionally they killed a snapcaster, or something, but really even when I had the two coloured sources to cast it I never felt that it was particularly impactful. I'd rather have more Repeal or Condescend for cantrip interactions than more Electrolyze.
The IzzeTron thread still exists, it just got moved down to Modern Deck Creation in the reshuffle. Which is fair enough really - it doesn't see as much play, and it doesn't have the results to be Established or Proven really.
There are certainly some IzzeTron lists that play like Mono-U - I play a fullset of Repeal/Remand/Condescend in my UR list so it plays a lot like a mono-u list that has more 'oops I win' factor (Through the Breach -> Eldrazi)
With the high mana costs in the deck, would it be worth attempting to slap it on top of a tron shell? I mean, its going to be clunky regardless, but with the costs involved you need to be accelerating like all heck.
First, the inconsistency is annoying. Part of this is MTGO, which causes mana flood/screw a lot.
Um, what? MTGO does a much better job of shuffling decks than most human players. I'll grant you that this deck seems particularly vulnerable to mana flood and screw, but blaming instances of such on MTGO seems a bit disingenuous.
I've played a few games of the following list tonight. No top-teir decks, but I didn't lose any matches. Through the Breach still gives us the 'oops I win' effect and the ability to play around Sowing Salt (compared to monoU - the red in the deck is still very justified), while the added control is very helpful against black control and many other matchups. I do not miss the signets ones bit. Not really missing the Compulsive Research either.
Holding down CTRL will allow you to hold priority and counter their spell with their own spell.
This is a great tip. I tried to Remand my own spell for the card draw (desperately digging for an answer) a few days ago and realized to my dismay that I had automatically passed priority.
In response to Thespian's Stage being played could you sac a ghost quarter or do they get priority?
You wouldn't gain priority after Thespian stage is played, but you would after they activate its ability, allowing you to destroy the Stage in response. Or at least, thus is my understanding.
The removal of the Izzet Signets is a really interesting move. I honestly considered it when I was mucking around with my control-y version, but they are a lifesaver with a Blood Moon in play (be it mine or his) by keeping me in blue.
I am now very tempted to try this track myself. Drop Signets and Blood Moon from the SB and slap in more of my Mono-U kit in again. Maybe a couple more basic Islands too, if I can find space. If I find the time to do so, I'll let you know my how it goes.
Yeah, I'm not sure that it is working very well. I played a few games this evening but got blown out every time with the exception of UB Mill (its cute trying to watch them play through the Eldrazi - repealing the leyline when they archive trap is devastating).
I tutor more on twest than map it seems, is there tutorable removal?
Removal tutorable from Tolaira West? Hmm. Engineered Explosives, I guess. Tormod's Crypt if you are graveyard hating. Neither are something I'd play mainboard, and fringe sideboard at best imo.
I'm trying to slightly more controlling version of this deck - I don't have my exact list handy but I'm trying more Repeals and some Condescend (I think I cut Thirst and Electrolyze to find the space). Compared to MonoU, I was feeling fairly helpless in the first 2-3 turns and it felt like it was costing me games. I really enjoy the tempo-control of MonoU, and I want to try and combine it with the explosive Breaches red allows.
Haven't done much testing yet, only a couple of games, but I was looking for opinions on this. I'll post my list later tonight or tomorrow.
I don't really like Tolaira West. The double blue in the Transmute cost absolutely kills me sometimes. I am still running a singleton because it is marginally better than another island but I am more or less looking for an excuse to cut it.

Interesting pick on the Trash for Treasure + Sundering Titan. It feels a little bit janky, but I can see the potential. Let us know how it goes!
