    thanks for the feedback thats still coming Smile

    The one about spoilers is fair, but not sure how to solve it yet, we will be talking.

    as for the space above, people who are using adblock may not understand it. An issue on this site, (and all sites on curse) is when a super leaderboard or siteskin loads, everyhting gets pushed down on the user. which caused site performance issues, as well as miss-clicks

    having the news articles at the top, now prevents all pop-in when an ad loads, also allows the editorial team here to show off some cool content on all parts of the site now, as well as announcements.

    (example of a super leaderboard loading:

    I think its fair to be a little thrown off by the extra space, even more so if you had been using adblocker. But to use the forums, you still have to scroll no matter what to read everything. With that said, a LOT of talk went into adding that system, so we are very interested in peoples thoughts as they use the site for the days to come, as how it impacts user engagement on both forums, and news will be good info

    a. Should I take a PPP poll in our sub and see who wants altered pageview privileges? Or would that be asking too much?

    Do w/e you guys think is best to figure it out, and let feyd or another admin know. Its about 3 clicks to change the threads per page and posts per thread for a specific forum. So if you guys decided, easy change.

    c. I thought we took linebreaks out because it was making the quotes appear in a random order? If you can reinstate it, that'd be great.

    That was another issue! We have a new ticket in about linebreaks between quotes, ill make sure it gets fixed

    A)You can only view 20 or whatever posts per page. This is like viewing the internet in 1999.
    B)Preview Post does not refresh the page.
    C)Multi-quoting, as stated.

    Mostly, I'm like Killjoy these days. I write everything in notepad, manually sorting out the different areas that I want to copy/paste, etc. As petulant as it sounds, I don't really want to have to put extra effort into my casual no prize internet word based game.

    a) admins can increase this on any forum users want to view more posts. 20 is the standard used on most forums, but can easily be changed by any admin Smile

    b) Thats by design, out of wondering, why do you want it to do a full refresh?

    c) if the only issue with multi quote is the linebreak, we can easily add that in.

    This text box is pretty small, at least compared to the size of posts we often see in Mafia.

All of the other cards I go over with my cursor work just fine. Also when I click on the link of every card they work just fine. thank you for your support.

    Your MTGS password will not work because you need to use your curse password

    The account "Alex_le_Sang" was made back in 2012. So when mtgs merged - it merged your MTGS account into your already made curse account. You can reset your password using your account name "Alex_le_Sang" and it will send the reset to the password on file.

    Right now this new forum has 3 major drawbacks for me compared to other MTG related forums:
    1) no option to disable signatures (I hate signature litered forums);
    2) no track of read/unread topics or posts, they all look in the same status;
    3) email notifications about topic updates do not contain content of new posts.

    I really REALLY hope that the first two will be addressed in near future.

    1) already in the pipline
    2) there is - look at the symbol on the left, blue = unread , grey = read

    So a few things!

    Your MTGS and Curse account will only auto merge if they had the same email address at the time of creation.

    Fear not you can still merge your mtgs account into your curse account. (will get into that after we get you logged into your MTGS account at least once to make sure you have all the info)

    First do this

    1) go to http://old-forums.mtgsalvation.com/
    2) Sign in with your MTGS username and password
    3) go to your profile and see what email is attached there.
    4) sign into the new site (this one) with that email and password.

    note: if you changed your password on the old site somewhat recently the old one will be the one you can login here wth.

    If the above does not get you logged into your MTGS account on this site, send me a PM with the email of your MTGS account (not curse account) and I will do some digging for you.

    Very honest question - as i've seen this brought up in multiple places

    the facebook and twitter buttons.

    Why are these not liked? They are at the top, and take up no realestate (if they were not there, the same empty sapce would be there).

    Looking for honest feedback about how it impacts viewing. Keep in mind MTGS will now be doing more articles and more contests (like the one on the front page right now) and those two methods are good ways to stay in touch.

    I hate almost everything about the new board and how the changeover was handled:

    • The bloated, ad-filled interface
    • Slow load times
    • Terrible mobile/tablet performance
    • Missing and broken functionality (where'd our profiles go? Why can't I see iTrader scores on posts in market street? Why is the new auto-card feature so buggy and cumbersome compared to magiccards.info?)
    • Timing - why was this done during pre-releases and a major banned/restricted announcement?

    However, I'm almost willing to forgive all of this because I love the Pacman graphic on the loading screen so much.

    2) When someone replies to a PM of mine... sometimes I get an email notification... sometimes I don't... and one time it showed up as a notification (and not a PM). Seems very inconsistent.

    notifications were down for a bit. that would proabaly be the issue with the inconsistent

    Solution: When they created the MTGS Beta site, they copied over your password at the time. Any password changes you made after December 2013(?) weren't carried over.

    This causes a security problem: Anyone who didn't complain about this hasn't changed their password in forever (a big security risk), and anyone who has complained now has their old password back in place!

    While the loss of PPP control is annoying, I can see the technical logic to it, though I'd like something higher than we have now.

    The biggest complaint is the way notifications work now. On the old site:

    a) they showed me a transcript of the post I was being notified about, which was nice, if it was something I was being asked directly or was able to weigh in on, I could read the email, see that and open the page, if not, I could leave it until later or just ignore it. The new one however just says "<user> posted to the forum thread <thread>. <time>" which isn't helpful.

    however, b) is much more of an issue - specifically that on the old system, I would get 1 notification about a new post to a thread and wouldn't get another until I'd been on MTGS. I subscribed to the modern Melira Pod thread about 6 hours ago. I've had 12 notification emails since then and the timestamps on them are like 2 minutes apart. I don't mind getting an immediate notification that a thread has new content, in fact I prefer that, but when I get an email from the same thread at 20:06, 20:08, 20:12, 20:20, 20:21, its too much. And considering the option to remove our control of posts per page was taken for reasons of server load, I can't see how sending what will probably amount to hundreds of emails a minute will ease server load vs the old single "this thread has new content" email.

    go to your profile settings, thats an option to combine them all to daily emails instead.

    Things I really miss that may have been mentioned already:
    • Thread URLs that aren't eight miles long and don't turn to alphabet soup when I quote a post. Karona forbid you quote a post with a quote in it!
    • An option to hide signatures. They're often huge and some people just don't care for them.
    • Not being reminded that the link I just clicked isn't on mtgs. An option to turn this off would be gr8.
    • 60ppp. My scrolling finger is starting to atrophy already.
    • vBulletin 3 style. Traditional avatar-on-the-left posts take up a lot of vertical space. The more posts I can fit on my screen at once, the happier I am.
    • A users currently viewing the thread list. This is useful as a moderator so I can snoop on delinquents, but also in general so you know when your pals are lurking about.
    • The ability to right-click > save avatars. This seems dumb but it's pretty useful for when I accidentally delete mine, or for editing somebody else's in the ye olde sigge shoppe.
    • Far less lag. Be a Nimble Mongoose, not a Slumbering Dragon.
    Good Things:
    • Saving old avatars for easy switching. Can we get the same thing for signatures? Is there a limit to this? Very exciting.
    • It's pretty!

    Sig Hidding is coming
    that system is for security. It can be disabled by the admins however.
    the PPP is set by admins per forum. Send them a PM about where you might want more
    Users currently viewing is a maybe - its something being looked at

    Also: we are forced to use 25 posts per page. Bring back the other options, I really need this 50ppp.

    This will not be a per user option. If there is a forum where you want it increased, please PM an admin and they can do so

    The dark theme I have added to the doc

    I quoted a post with a deck list in it. Then when I went to edit that post, all the card names disappeared but the numbers remained.

    added it to the doc

    I seem to have all my mod powers but no posting privileges over here.

    Glad to see all the old links haven't been broken but I'm sad to see the move to a word-based instead of numerical system for the urls. They're clunky and there's no obvious way to use them. On the old forum I could link to specific post and alter the url to 'showpost' in order to have only that post show up or 'showthread' if the posts around it were in any way important. It seems like the 'showpost' version just doesn't exist anymore. (I also don't like that clicking on the post number brings up a box with a url. Almost anyone who uses the internet knows how to copy a link without this kind of hand holding.)

    EDIT: I tried to merge some threads and got an error message. The old threads now redirect to the target, which shows the correct number of posts. However the new thread only contains its original posts and none of the supposedly merged ones. Would appreciate some help in restoring these.

    added to doc about the merging - can you please provide a link?

    Only thing that's irking me about the forum change is going down to 25ppp, from 60ppp. Irritates me a little when I'm a mod in a tournament, although I don't have to worry about that part for much longer.

    please contact the admins. They can up it per forum

    Quote from Taeolas
    I can't remember if I put this in an older feedback thread or not, but someone earlier mentioned the ability to hide signatures. I want to second that.

    I also would love the ability to hide avatars as well.

    Personally, I'm a very text-based person, and I like simple boards that are just the topic at hand, not cluttered up with sigs and avatars and other non-thread related noise, so I turn those off as much as I can when I can.

    Avatar hidding is coming (same with sigs)

    Quote from Shodai
    All these super long quote chains need to be disabled. Have the quote button only take the post you are actually quoting, not everything that post it quoting too.

    Quote chains are not something we are looking to disable. However Ill add it to the doc for a disccustion

    Quote from scotti_badass
    whoa. I didn't even see this thread, and probably 1/2 of what is here in this subsection until after I posted in another thread about sig problems.

    so I guess that's issue #1.

    #2, is what I posted already in that thread.
    I'm having the problem of the formatting not saving at all unless it's the crap like i got right now. I figured the character limit was drastically cut, which seems rather ridiculous, but I'm just wanting to be able to save what I put in.

    Oh, and there is no Font button to change the font in the Sig editor either.

    Is there any chance to have our character limit back to what it was?

    Also, I don't see a line break for Sigs on the dark skin either.
    That's all I've found.

    Sig limits are being changed.

    I-Trader feedback rating and percentage should be visible near the user's avatar, location, join date, etc. It's not necessary for the entire forum, but it should be a fairly high priority to have that information visible for posts made in Market Street (Bad Trader Reports, Trading Post, and Sales Lot).

    Am I the only one experiencing a noticeable delay between taking any action on these forums? It is actually really annoying and all of my other pages and sites are loading as they normally should without this strange delay. I guess an example would be opening up a section, such as competitive in the Standard forum, and all of the new topics appear and after a few seconds bold themselves to show what is new and what is not. Similar latency can be seen when replying to a thread or editing a post.

    Really turns me off.

    Also, not being able to do advanced edits is annoying as ****. < Your filter is broken too.

    dont know what you mean by advance edits

    As for the delay, thats not latency. What we do is run a javascript that auto bolds everything. This actully lets the site load faster for you (so you can start browsing sooner) and then once its ready - marks the forums with bold.

    This also means it goes based off your computer.

    With that said I have added to the doc an option to be able to turn that on or off.

    This means the post has some bad formatting (to many nested bbcodes) for exmaple the following would be a depth of 6. Going to 30 is never needed and usally means theres a formating issue in the post.

    yes

    Quote from Thought Criminal
    Not sure if any of this has been mentioned already, but I figured I'd post it anyway. Sorry for the lack of terminology:

    When you post a reply to a thread, the stuff you type out is in the regular, old style with BBCode visible (where you could visibly see any tags you put in your post, such as [b][/b] and [u][/u]). The signature editor used to be this way as well, but now what you type in your signature looks as though it were actually your signature, without any visible BBCode markup.

    Also of note, typing
    [ n o p a r s e ] [ m a n a ] [ / m a n a ] [ / n o p a r s e ]
    (without spaces)
    doesn't show up how it should.

    Maybe it's just me, but the link to the "update FAQ" on the old site seems to be broken. The part that says "Also make sure to check out the update FAQ. This should help answer many of the questions you might have."

    [ c o d e] should work, but it adds some text before and after atm. ill look into getting noparse added as well

    the FAQ can be found on the homepage (under the contest) Smile

    [LEFT] This is an aggressive control deck, much like [CARD]Jenara, Asura of War[/CARD]. Marath is very versatile, so it's the prime candidate for the commander of this deck. Marath can put +1/+1 counters on target creature. This is good with cards like [CARD]Wood Elves[/CARD], making them big beaters. Marath can deal X damage to target creature or player. Whenever Marath has deathtouch, this becomes [MANA]1[/MANA], Remove 1 +1/+1 counter from Marath: Destroy target creature. Lastly, Marath can put an X/X green Elemental token onto the battlefield. This itself is versatile, say [MANA]X[/MANA] = [MANA]4[/MANA], Marath can put 4 1/1 tokens, 2 1/1 tokens and a 2/2 token, a 1/1 token and a 3/3 token, 2 2/2 tokens, or a 4/4 token onto the battlefield.

    [LEFT] [anchor=a][SIZE=5][B]THE DECK[/B][/SIZE][/anchor]
    This deck focuses on two engines, [CARD]Birthing Pod[/CARD] and [CARD]Sunforger[/CARD]. The deck runs many utility creatures to take full advantage of Birthing Pod. Sunforger is there to search for answer cards to deal with threats. Between the two, most cards in the deck can be tutored for. The strategy of the deck is to basically beat down with creatures, while controlling the board with Marath itself and removal spells.

    I cut 3 CMC removal for 3 CMC removal. While powerful, [CARD]Beast Within[/CARD] doesn't deal with indestructible permanents. [CARD]Chaos Warp[/CARD] does deal with those permanents.

    - [CARD]Dauntless Escort[/CARD]

    + [CARD]Oblation[/CARD]

    [CARD]Dauntless Escort[/CARD] has played poorly and feels like a dead card. I wanted to include [CARD]Oblation[/CARD] and exclude [CARD]Dauntless Escort[/CARD]. I included [CARD]Oblation[/CARD] because I wanted another card to deal with planeswalkers.

    - [CARD]Spawning Pit[/CARD]

    + [CARD]Ashnod's Altar[/CARD]

    I cut sac outlet for sac outlet. Like [CARD]Dauntless Escort[/CARD], [CARD]Spawning Pit[/CARD] performed poorly. I added [CARD]Ashnod's Altar[/CARD] because the card combos with many cards in the deck and just produces much mana.

    + [CARD]Spear of Heliod[/CARD]

    I cut [CARD]Path to Exile[/CARD] and added [CARD]Spear of Heliod[/CARD]. [CARD]Spear[/CARD] is an anthem and reusable removal, opposite of single-use [CARD]Path to Exile[/CARD]. [CARD]Spear[/CARD] is political too, as it discourages attacking me and encourages attacking opponents. I have high hopes for [CARD]Spear of Heliod[/CARD] and am looking forward to testing it out along with the rest of the recent additions.[/QUOTE][/SPOILER]

    [SPOILER=1/25/14][QUOTE=Xenagos;11637558]- [CARD]Ant Queen[/CARD] -> [CARD]Zealous Conscripts [/CARD]

    - [CARD]Druid's Repository[/CARD] -> [CARD]Restoration Angel[/CARD]
    - [CARD]Fecundity[/CARD] -> [CARD]Boros Charm[/CARD]
    - [CARD]Windbrisk Heights[/CARD] -> [CARD]Wear//Tear[/CARD]

    Cutting more of the token cards for more goodstuff.

    I added Avenger, Resto, Reveillark, and Zealous because they're good creatures. Resto, Reveillark, and Zealous are utility, while Avenger is a win-con. If all fails, Resto/Zealous can combo with Kiki-Jiki, becoming another win-con.

    I added DoJ and Hallowed Burial because Marath equipped to Basilisk Collar can only do so much. It can't deal with hexproof, and it can't deal with pro red/green/white, so I felt adding wraths was only necessary.

    I added Boros Charm, Into the Core, and Wear//Tear for the deck's Sunforger package. Charm was added because it's so versatile. Into the Core and Wear//Tear were both added because the deck needed more artifact and enchantment removal.[/QUOTE][/SPOILER]
    [SPOILER=1/26/14][QUOTE=Xenagos;11642166]- [CARD]Ashnod's Altar[/CARD] -> [CARD]Goblin Bombardment[/CARD]
    - [CARD]Kher Keep[/CARD] -> [CARD]Gavony Township[/CARD]
    - [CARD]Spingjack Pastor[/CARD] -> [CARD]Homeward Path[/CARD]

    I cut Ashnod's for Goblin Bombardment. I would rather be dealing 1 damage than adding [MANA]2[/MANA] mana to my mana pool.

    I cut Kher Keep and Springjack for Gavony and Homeward. I added Gavony because Airithne suggested it. I added Homeward because [CARD]Olivia Voldaren[/CARD] shows up frequently at the local game store, and so, stealing creatures is common.[/QUOTE][/SPOILER]

    [SPOILER=1/27/14][QUOTE=Xenagos;11653563][CARD]Academy Rector[/CARD] -> [CARD]Goblin Sharpshooter[/CARD]

    [CARD]Privileged Position[/CARD] -> [CARD]Stoneforge Mystic[/CARD]
    [CARD]Sterling Grove[/CARD] -> [CARD]Stonehewer Giant[/CARD]

    Picked-up new cards Smile

    I'm finally cutting the last of the last token cards.

    Sharpshooter was added because it works so well with [CARD]Basilisk Collar[/CARD] and [CARD]Nightshade Peddler[/CARD], or even [CARD]Bow of Nylea[/CARD]. This guy's like a second Marath, capable of sweeping the board every turn.

    Harmonic Sliver's in because it's creature-based removal, which works wonders with [CARD]Birthing Pod[/CARD]. It's also a nice addition to the curve.

    Kitchen Finks was added because of its synergy with Marath, much like [CARD]Woodfall Primus[/CARD]. It also works nicely with [CARD]Ashnod's Altar[/CARD], so I'm considering adding that back in.

    Stonehewer Giant's in because it's a creature-based tutor, except it's an activated ability. It doesn't work as well with Birthing Pod as the other additions, but I still have high hopes for this guy.

    Stoneforge Mystic is the card I've been dying to pick-up for the deck, and I finally have. This card is so awesome. When it enters the battlefield, it searches for an equipment and puts it into your hand... for [MANA]1W[/MANA]. The deck revolves around [CARD]Basilisk Collar[/CARD] and [CARD]Sunforger[/CARD], so this is a perfect addition. I plan on eventually picking up [CARD]Sword of Fire and Ice[/CARD], now that I have Stoneforge.

    Since I finally cut the rest of the token cards, don't expect another big update for a while. I'm very satisfied with how the deck has been playing, so I don't intend to make many more changes.[/QUOTE][/SPOILER]

    So, hm...there's a link in the top right that leads you back to the "old site" but it won't allow me to log in. Am I to assume that the "old site" will be unusable? If so, that's a real shame. I don't know much about site layout, but something on this site is making my browser's CPU usage spike to almost 100%. Trying to scroll on pages is nearly making my computer overheat and even typing is laggy. I fear I may not be able to use this site much anymore. :/

    what browser and OS are you using so that I can look into this? There should not be any lag issues.

    So, ok, I need some merge assistance. I attempted to use the merge tool to absorb my old accounts, but am having issues, due to the merge tool asking me to log into those old accounts. However, thanks to the account's age and my lack of the password, I can't do so. This makes merging with the tool impossible.

    On Old MTGS, Sene merged the accounts manually, precisely because of this issue. Can any help be provided?

    Note: the accounts in question are these two. Both are mine, bloodydoves from 6ish years ago; TBCarguskos from only 1-2 years ago. Ideally, I'd like to merge these two into this account and use the name arguskos for the one resulting account.

    Another few issues:

    First, when I am browsing a thread, I can't see the active users in the thread, the number of visitors, and the total number of people in the thread. This was a very helpful feature for me as a moderator, especially when flame wars were brewing and I needed to see if the participants were both in the thread at the same time. Am I just missing it? Or did it get removed entirely?

    The next two issues I will discuss together. The first is the way that spoiler text works. The second is how the "edited by" note looks. Here's a sample of "spoiler" coding which is commonly used in many of our deck primers.

    [ spoiler = "Matchups] TEXT [/ spoiler]

    Here's how that coding shows up in the old version of the site. One spoiler has been expanded and the other has not. Also note the placement and format of the "last edited by" text.

    The title of the spoiler box (Matchups and Reports) is very distinct from the "Show" box, in color, font, size, and general format. Also, the gray box in which text shows up is outlined and dark, making it distinguishable from the white background of the post. Finally, the "last edited by" note appears underneath my signature, clearly separating it from the rest of my post.

    Now here's how it looks on the beta:

    The title of the spoiler box is indistinguishable from the "click to show" box; indeed, it's inside the same box. The font, formatting, color, and everything is the same. It's a lot less visually appealing. The text itself shows up in a light gray box that is hard to separate from the background color of the post. It also lacks an outline. Finally, the "edited by" text appears right below my post without any line break. This makes it hard to separate it out from the post itself.

    Overall, it's just a lot less visually appealing.

    the images 404 for me

    Quote from Senori
    20 characters for custom titles is a little low; it's quite a bit lower than it is on the old software (and is actually less than some of the current stock titles, like "Resident Planeswalker", which is 21). 30 would be less disruptive.

    adding it to the list!

    If this is true that Market Street Cafe will be going away, I will be very disappointed, as I'm sure many other people will be as well. I'm hoping it's just something that was missed and can be fixed relatively easily, because it would be really sad to lose this section of the forums. It's very useful for keeping track of what cards are on the move in terms of pricing and to discuss what could spike next. I love all of the running tally thread for keeping track of currently in print cards. It's a really excellent resource that should definitely be carried over to the new site.

    For example, in the Modern subforum (http://beta.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern), if I click on the thumbtack icon next to the "Lantern IQ Season 2 Thread", it randomly brings me to the 16th post in the thread.

    Hello everyone!

    Today we bring the release Candidate. This is the version that will go live on the 21st.
    There are a few things to keep in mind

    X Thing I suggested is not in! - We actually have a long list of things we want to add post release - We will have small pushes throughout after the release adding more and more that you all requested. This includes changes to the DB, style changes in spoilers, and more

    Taking all feedback - but only Big bugs will be fixed before launch - Any feedback about issues posted here will get put into our post launch QA sheet. However - only things that we want to focus on before release are key bugs that really hurt the overall user experience.

    FAQ Read the FAQ for any issues you might run into

    People with two accounts - For people reported now having two accounts, we have an account merging system being worked on.

    1 thing that I've noticed in multiple threads, not sure if it's my computer or an actual problem. When you go to scroll over cards that are in a format, there are only a few cards that pop up without clicking on them. Not sure if it's a problem or not but... if it's supposed to be like that for every card that would make card browsing in the trade threads a TON easier.

    Keep up the good work guys!

    can you link to a thread where that is an issue? all cards should be hoverable - also trade threads will now be in the trade tool http://beta.mtgsalvation.com/trading-post/

    could you explain how the maliicious cookie works please? I'm not familiar with this exploit.

    It seems that the banner ad has javascript that redirects to adtrack.king.com which then pushes a market:// to the device (which opens it). This is against the google ToS incidentally. Not sure how a cookie comes into play.

    the ad can not do that on its own. There is an exploit thats letting the ad do such. I don't know the tech behind it - im just passing the information along.

    thats the whole reason we have a feedback page. We have been adding more and more things. We also have a doc with close to 60 items (some bugs, some more things to be added)

    and one of the main reasons its being moving to cobalt and off VB is we update cobalt weekly. Basically even if something does not get in at launch, we will be updating and adding stuff non-stop. Nothing ends after beta ;P

    I posted these things on the current forums, but I figured (was instructed by Galspanic) that I should post them here as well:

    If I'm going to be frank, I hate the Beta from trying to use it so far. My primer layout is pretty messed up, as is my sig, and about 100 of my posts have gone missing. It is lacking a lot of functions that I like to use, like being able to sort threads by replies or views, and the search function is much more of a pain to use in my opinion. I had somewhat of a hard time locating threads that I usually have no problem finding here, and I'm also not at all a fan of the aesthetic appearance of the beta. Overall I think it's a significant step in the wrong direction. I have been a member of a couple other forums in the past that have changed their appearance / layout / functionality, and on those occasions, the changes have caused my participation in those forums to decline and / or cease completely.

    So another thing I noticed on the Beta is that having boxes doesn't work, like the ones for quotes. It makes my primer look really ugly rather than all pretty like on here. Also the deck tags look really awful on the Beta. They take up way too much room and having everything centered in those cavernous boxes of empty space looks horrible. Also my two decklists show up one on top of the other instead of side by side.

    Also, the guild symbol smilies don't seem to be working, and I couldn't get my sig banner to show up.

    can you please link both versions of your primer (the beta version and the live version) so I can take a look

    You don't get PMs when you report someone - it is now all taken care of in the report center - so you can keep infractions and your PM chats unqiue - Also the report options are just thing the admins will fill out (not so much a beta thing) as they just need to make up a big old list and fill and add them

I need to know so I can let people know whom I make avatars for that they have to reconsider their request.
