It's not just you Scasseden. I feel that. I hated my new iteration and have reverted to push for even more creatures that are just independently strong. With Abzan Beastmaster instead of Den Protector to just straight up out draw them. I liked the 2 Sorins, he saves me so often. Den Protector was too much as a 3-of. Trying Abzan Beastmaster in its place. Wingmate Roc I drew too early too often so I bumped it to 1-of. Brimaz is good against things that try to make you sac, which I've run into often. He's also pretty darn taxing on opponent's removal. I think 9-12 is the sweet spot for noncreatures in the aggro lists.
I've found Boon Satyr to have awesome Bestow targets in the deck which is primarily why I chose it over Brimaz. Den Protector getting huge is great, Wingmate Roc is great, Rhino is great, Lion is great. I've cut the raptors as the grindy plan just wasn't my play style and found it to be extremely less fun. Loving Den Protector in all aspects. Good chump blocker, good game ender, great card advantage engine.
Trying out Roc because it seemed to break the mirror and wasn't THAT bad. Easy side out though for the Esper match up. The sideboard is built on beating Esper, with silver bullets against everything except the mirror (besides Hornet Nest). I want Elspeth, but at the same time I don't want Elspeth. I also miss Warden but... I just don't think I can fit him in.
On Sorin, I just like him in too many match ups to not just have 2 main. I also know that Dromoka's Command makes me stupid and greedy. >:( I also don't feel I need 4, so I moved the 4th to the side.
I'd say you either pick Den Protector or Tasigur, the first thing I'd cut in your list would be Tasigur then Warden. Running both seems too greedy. I also don't think that you should run anymore CIPT lands because ideally you still want to be hitting untapped lands until 5. The only thing that should change is instead of playing warden T1, you play your CIPT land.
Yeah I know it's a great mirror match card. But I find it to be poor in the control match up and that's what I'm most worried about to be honest. I think delegating Roc to the side might be better than mainboard.
He possibly could have been 11-0 on the swing back. But this isn't the forum for that, Wingmate Roc seems to be a meta call for the mirror match up. I'm really interested in decklists.
Feels good to make a call to change the board and it be strong. Has anyone played the Jurassic Abzan mirror?? Wondering if an amass of 3 drops is beneficial, in raptor, Ana, courser and technically den protector.
Though I don't think he's the best Bob ever printed... I'm going to try Beastmaster out in place of Den Protector. I have a feeling he'll be win more and won't do too much on his own.
Hey! Welcome to MTGS. I'd recommend not putting in Plague as you already have Drown and Bile and it's pretty narrow. Spirit is also pretty narrow and I would probably keep the Chiefs if you really like them. I've found it to be really easy to turn on Surrak with Wardens, so I recommend taking the chiefs out for them. I think Warden is just a better top deck over Chief and you don't have many warriors to activate his passive past Surrak. I don't think Anticipate is considered to be card draw.
GR Rampy Monsters, I've found the match up to be favorable. Sorin is a monster against them, as is Rhino but we knew that already. Dromoka's Command + Hornet Nest is also pretty darn good. Ultimate Price works wonders as well. Personally the biggest change you can make though would be to try to fit in 1/2 Sorin's to make the match up better. I've found that Sorin is pretty decent against anything that tries to win via getting your life total to 0.
Eh I kinda disagree with you simply because the way I look at it you're saying:
Rock is what everyone is playing so the smart people will play Paper but the SMARTER people will play Scissors. When in reality... It's a toss up. Midrange can get lucky with pairings, Control can get lucky in pairings and Aggro can get lucky in pairings.
