When I was with my kids mother; I have to go with Thragtusk, mainly for the ltb ability.

Currently I would say Mind Over Matter, not so much for the name, but it's activated ability.(:symtap: tap symbol :symtap:)

And if either see this post I'm getting an Ass Whuppin'

So the group I play with does a draft for every set. There are about 20 of us who range from serious players - those who only play at these drafts. We usually try to tweak the format to keep it different, but format is entirely the discretion of the host.

So M14 is at one of my better friends house (I'm kind of a co-host). We thought of trying a Two Headed Dragon Draft
    Each player 3 packs.
Open pack normally, but can conspire with your other head about what to draft.
Then pass pack accodingly (to left or right, depending on round).

..so basicly every turn we will both be looking at two packs, but can only choose from the one in hand
..we also thought about being able to trade with the other head to finalize the deck???

Has anyone tried doing this or heard of such craziness??
What would you add/remove to these guidelines??
    Pro's/Con's, all feedback is encouraged!!

    .......and...........BEGIN

How you doing fellow Cincinnatian? Where about do you live. I'm in Western Hills. I have recently just got back into MtG myself (don't play any other games). I have played some FNM, prereleases and drafts at Rockin Rooster. It is fairly competitive there. I suggest avoiding FNM unless you have a/some solid deck/s. Most people I have meet are cool though. I suggest going up for some drafts.

You are correct about some of those creatures not being impressive, except for Gurzigost, whose main purpose is for recur, he is actually very good in a deck like this.

The 3 you named are on my list of cards to pick up for this deck, along with many others (Gaea's Cradle!!!). Those big guys are just fillers till I get the others, then they will get the axe.

As far as goes Kamahl, Fist of Krosa goes, when I do get him I will keep overrun. For 2 reasons. 1.I like to have multiple similar cards in my EDH decks to keep them consistant. 2. I can also copy overrun with Mirari, 99% of the time thats game over.

Martial Coup...hum, unsure about this card. Putting only 4 tokens out is a waste. And with this deck I havent had a need for mass removeal.

***Elbrus, the Blinding Blade, really? I was under the impression the mana symbol is what matters. Do you have a link to clear this up?***

    General Captain Sissay

Why...why not? This is my third EDH deck. After doing searches online for Legendary creatures I came across 'The Captain'. I thought what could be more fun than loading a deck up with Legendary cards and then searching through the deck to pull out the one I need at the time.

Yes... 'The Captain' is a big target when she's out there, but oh well, better her getting blown up than something I can't recast in a few turns. It's almost better that way, this deck can become very tedious doing a search every turn.

    Wincon...
..Large amounts of small tokens biting your ankles
..A few monstrous beast pounding your face in

    GeneralMerieke Ri Berit
**Lets begin by explaining the name. Have you ever seen Finding Nemo? If so just imagine the seagulls, "Mine, Mine, Mine..well that basically sums it up! This deck was built to annoy people without being super powerful. The function of the deck is to control, steal and destroy, then steal some more.

**How it began. After digging my cards out of the basement, then blowing the 10 year old dust off the boxes and binders the treasure find begins!! Being out of the game for so long I didn't have many powerful Legendary creatures laying around. When I came across Merieke Ri Berit, I thought ...hum, this should work well in multiplayer using Extort and thievery.

    **Possible Wincons
..Beat you down with their own creatures, including possible General damage.
..Slow beat down with unblockable creatures (that could have Cipher)
..Life gain damage with Vizkopa Guildmage

I know... a U deck with no counter spells, what am I thinking? Why counter it when I can steal it or destroy it. Without countermagic hexproof, shroud and removal are issues, but that's the chance the Seagull's are willing to take.

There are still a few cards out there I want to put in this deck, like some more 'Tutors',Command Tower,Wrath of God and Memnarch.
What cards are out there that would help out? All ideas are welcome (I say that with hesitation).

  • posted a message on [[SCD]] Vedalken Shackles
I have a 3 color EDH deck with Merieke Ri Berit as my general. I do use Vedalken Shackles in the deck, that is currently running only 10 islands. The few times I have actually played VS it was never worth more than a 4cmc. This deck being a control, steal, destroy deck it did what I wanted it to. Even in multiplayer taking a 3 drop from someone can be powerful. If someone attacks and I use it to block then it dies..good, now I can take another and do the same.

It only works in this case cause of the deck design, but it can be a bigger game changer in monoU or dual colored decks. I suggest playing the card, then if you find it to not work as well as something else could...swap it.

Where about? I live around Western Hills.

Welcome. The Cincinnati area has a pretty robust magic scene. Due to the size of the city and the sheer number of the stores its pretty fragmented.
Rockin' Rooster is one of the smaller stores, but I know its been around for a while and I heard the group there is pretty good.

If you're trying to get into legacy, you'll need to visit the more active stores like Illuminaudi (West Chester or NKY) or Game Swap Mason.

Not sure about the overall Cincinnati scene(being out of competitive play for over 10 years), but...yes the people at Rooster all are a good group!

As for Legacy, it'll be about a year before I get a deck together. Mostly because all my good trade is in EDH decks, or was used for trade already. Thanks for letting me know about those other stores!!

As of right now I have EDH 4 decks
    GUBDamia, Sage of Stone
    WUBMerieke Ri Berit
    GWCaptain Sissy
RWAurelia, the Warleader , or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
They are all very solid decks in multiplayer or 1vs1. Each deck has won within 7 turns in 1vs1 and have won in 20+ turn multiplayer sloberknockers. I must say they are fairly good decks, but are all still missing a hand full of cards to make them complete

    Hi people!!
I'm Brian from Cincinnati Ohio. I just recently got back into MTG in January. Before that I played from about Tempest - Prophecy (with a few friendly drafts in my absence).
Since my return I found EDH to be my new favorite format. I do try to get to standard FNM, or a draft at the LGS (rockin rooster) once a month.
When I blew the dust off my old cards I came across my old enchantress deck. That was my best deck back in the days of Urza. Now I have a crazy goal of making it competitive in Legacy.
Until then EDH will be my poison!!
**I'll try to get deck list soon**
