I made a digital playmat. I plan on getting it printed.

I normally charge by the card, but I've never had someone commission me for an entire deck. You might negotiate with the owner of the deck on the price.
Both entries accomplish the goals of the contest. My vote has to go to Zombie Shakespeare, though. His wizard looks more polished. Nice job to both entrants.
Looks great! I will say that from experience that I would recommend a color to fill in the white spaces. They may look great now but they will be the first (and probably only) areas that will get dirty and discolored and be noticeable. Even a 20% cool or warm grey will keep these ares from getting dingy. Or course it all depends on use and care.
Thanks for the comment. Means a lot coming you.
Would sealing the mat with a fixitive help keep it from getting discolored? I will probably not keep this one if someone is interested in it. But I'd like it to last for whomever ends up with it.
What kind of fixitive is anyone using? I'm in the process of finishing up my first playmat and don't want to ruin it. If it makes a difference, I used acrylic paint, Prismacolor markers, and colored pencils.
After doing some research on the internet, Prismacolor and Copic markers seem to be pretty popular. I haven't tested this myself, but I'm planning to in the very near future.
Congratulations to Artgeek.73 for winning the cup this month
...and also for beating Spade ... who has had a pretty good run over last couple of months.
Announcement will be up soon
Thanks to everyone that voted for my alter. After looking through Spade's gallery, I'm surprised I won. He has some very impressive work. I look forward to seeing more of his work.
trial and error, along with the rest of us. my big piece of advise is thus:
You will typically get better results with better materials.
Thanks for the advice. Reading some of the stuff I found on the Internet, I was a little confused with the whole Sharpie issue. Some people warn to stay away from them, but they seem to be one of the most popular mediums. Even with some of the bigger names in the industry.
I guess figuring out what works is part of the process.
I'm interested in some information for creating custom playmats. Are there any threads here that give some good tips/tricks for making playmats? Or other sites?
Both paintings are flavorful and look like they belong on the card they're supposed to represent. Galspanic's painting looks like it could have been the original artwork for City of Shadows. Definitely looks like some of the artwork from that period. The Emortal's work has a modern look that could have appeared in the RTR block. Nice work to both artists. This is a difficult choice.
My vote has to go to queengothica. Amazing work!!
Looks awesome! Should be a beautiful playmat.
Rezombied's use of the color blender was pretty cool and Bloodymoonman's Clone Trooper alter had a great use of crosshatching.
Good job to all of the entrants!
@TTTF. I have changed the white stripes to gray and also outlined them in purple. The mat doesn't look as bright as it did, but I'm ok with it.
I appreciate the advise from both of you. Now I have to figure out what to do for the next playmat. LOL
