Re: Staticaster, manged to get the "static" cut out, I went a little thicker than the art was and removed most of the ink with acetone. The rest I will paint over.
@29 - Ha! I knew you would like a magnifying lamp, it makes thing SOOOOOO much easier! Xen and Thas are looking sick, but really I would expect no less. Congrats on the promotion as well!
@Ed - I like the Goblin, and don't worry you aren't the only one to notice little things after you have finished an alter. At least you can fix it...well by now you have probably already fixed it. Also kudos for trying to keep the wheel counters as hidden as possible, how much longer til we can see the final piece?
@Panda - I like the Dice Box idea, was that a commission or just an idea? No one has ever approached me for one, but it would be fun to try!
@Bronica - First, welcome! Nice to see some new blood! Second, LOVE the Rhox, that is one I have always wanted to attempt! Your brawler is a little rough, but a great first attempt. Make sure your blades are sharp. If you plan to make this a hobby, buy them in bulk and save yourself some money. Lastly, may I ask where you derived your username from?
@Ed So are you going to spearhead this endeavor? I'll lend whatever help I can.
Edit: Need your input guys, I'm working on the Staticaster and for the most part she's pretty simple. But I'd like your input on the static burst. Would you layer it at all? Maybe cut it from a foil or blank white card?
@Ed - I really wanted to make the legs stand out but like you said it leaves an awkward line in one place or another. That was my biggest issue besides the cape area getting thick because of all the layers.
For edging I use Sakura brush pens and just try to move quick to keep the edges from absorbing too much liquid.
I am planning on an OS Avacyn one day, I just need to acquire filler cards first. Would be neat to do those two in tandem.
There has been some seriously amazing art posted since I was last here. It further reinforces the fact that I need to keep pushing myself and the envelope.
@Panda and @Menoz - Keep it up guys! I really hope I get commissioned to do a Selesnya Charm one day.
@Daevied - Welcome!! It's been a while since your post, I hope you continue to alter. I look forward to seeing more.
@Ed - I love your...cat. Great use of a blank foil card. AND I EFFING LOVE THE MAYAEL!!!! Also I have one OS Griselbrand...might not be worth shipping one card overseas though.
@Bishop - I agree with Serrot. All my commissions are blind commissions and they constantly push me to improve. My alters from when I started to now show a very big growth in my skill set. I am no where near the top of the talent tree we have here, but I think I hold my own. If I weren't striving to make sure my clientele was happy, I am not sure I would be where I am. Am I rambling? I feel like I am rambling...
@Panda: with the right beads, you can make an abacus that can count to 1110. 3 rows of 10 beads. I've not made one with that many, but a few who have commissioned me considered the idea.
I have seen counters like that elsewhere, but it always seems like it would be cumbersome to use...
@menozcm - Your Guardian Angel came out really nice, it has a simpleness to it that I really like. How did you like working with a double-sided card? Lastly, I loooooooooooove the Bolas! I haven't done a planeswalker yet, but I have been meaning to.
@SimplyPanda - It's been forever since I have seen that Twitch artwork, that one really does lend itself to a nice 3D alter. Also I believe that I saw your Tunneler on Reddit, I have to say again that the artwork is awesome and I didn't even notice that the background art isn't the same as the original.
@Serrot - Abaci or abacuses. Nice work on the Viridian Revel, is that one counter? it looks like there are a ton of spacers. Also your signature links are borked.
@Raynfal - You could also thin the card from the back until just before the blue half-way point. With half the thickness to cut through, it makes it easier to cut thinner pieces without them breaking.
Edit - And knowing you are in Michigan, stay safe and warm!!

Perhaps each you could post a new topic, then each of us could share our knowledge and any images on that subject for you to collect and organize.
Maybe?

1 - Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief
and
2 - Regeneration

@menozcm - Regarding the Cyclops and the tube...that would be an oversight on my part. *blush* Must have just missed it.
@Serrot - The Hellkite and the Unholy are siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. So beautiful!
@Shikima - I have never seen a horizontal alter like that, very nice and non-traditional.
@stilledsilence - Those wings...my god those wings. Absolutely amazing.
@SimplyPanda - The edges are a bit rough, but I really like the way the Myr and grass came out. Brava!
Now to start on Drana.
also...what is Curse...did I miss an announcement?

Also, Happy New Year, fellow alterers!
EDIT - For those of you looking for blades, there are 100 pks of Excel Blades on Amazon for less than $20.
And speaking of oversized cards, that is a nice Oros. Is that going to be a counter or just a 3D alter?
Sorry they are so huge. Many thanks to serrot_29, grant1, and Powdered Blackblade!
Thank you to Galspanic for taking care of all of this!
