2. Seriously, who wants to be paying $240 for a basic discard spell to get into Modern? The demand is so high that even Inquisition of Kozilek, an uncommon in a large set from a few years ago, is $7 a pop. Printing it in M14 should bring down the value substantially more than MM.
As a some one who doesn't have a huge amount of cash to spend on cards im seriously excited for this, and with modern masters the modern format is getting a lot easier to get into.
all we need now are fetches to be down at 10$, modern was getting a little ridiculous on the price tags.
Also the original Elspeth art is awesome while the DD art is terrible

The Duel decks art isn't terrible it's awesome, but compared to the original it is inferior to say the least.
There's just something about the original that gives elspeth that " Don't worry you're safe as long as im on the field" kinda feel. sorta like gideon and mother of runes.
The artist that did the DD version has done some other awesome artwork like Elesh Norn and linvala.

Nice to see chandra get some new life. If she is anything like the chandra that was faked when they were spoiling m(12/13?), it will be good. although, chandra in her previous version (yes i'm talking standard here) sucks. so lets hope they revamp her.
Chandra the firebrand isn't bad, I played her in my modern Jund and won me games by letting me copy Blighting and dreadbore.
But in a low instant/sorcery decks she isn't as solid.
But I seriously doubt wizards is going to print a good Chandra, that can be played in Top tier decks. Which Is disappointing since Chandra is my favorite planeswalker in terms of flavor and lore.
Maybe If we are lucky we get a 3 cost chandra who's a mix of tibalt, jace beleren and lilliana.

It would make more sense to reprint it in the original artwork, to make the duel decks alternative art more "special" or something

Jace had alternative art in that one but when he was released in m10 and m11 he had his original lorwyn art
then again, we already got the worst one. Others would just be upgrades i guess...

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror-breaker could surely be mythic, but having only poor Chandras maybe Ryusei could've been chosen as some sort of replacement... well, a very poor one...
Maybe they will put the whole dragon spirit cycle in the mythic rare spots with kukusho, keiga , etc
I don't think the standard rules for mythics really apply to this set. Personally, I believe that Dark Confidant and Thoughtseize will be mythics in this set. I believe that Tombstalker will be in this set, and that Aether Vial will be a rare.
That's what I believe, I could be wrong, but all things considered, I'm probably not.
They better not reprint kitchen finks, and remand as a rare, that's all I care about.
Generally, only combo decks play it, as a way of beating counterspells when they want to combo off.
It doesn't stop your opponent from drawing, attacking, playing lands, and it provides negative card advantage, so I don't think your deck wants it, unless Isochron Scepter is involved.
I like to view it as a time walk only your opponent can still attack and play lands.

The problem is, he's only 4 to the face early game. Late game, he's a terrible top deck. He's useless. If you're playing burn, you want a burn spell that is good ALL the time. This card is not.
Even if you want to finish your opponent with the four damage ,getting a 4/3 creature for R is still pretty damn good.
