If this card was ridiculously broken people would complain, as they are because it's NOT ridiculously broken. :T I think it's awesome, and being a bad player, I would totally just play it for the artwork. I feel like it super-duper boosts a white-weenie strategy as well, playing well with Sublime Archangel pre-rotation and in a Boros deck, this Jedi can have a red lightsaber in the form of a Madcap Skills and it'd be fun to play.

Also Doom Blade is coming back in standard, and this guy dodges it.

    Doh!

Why sell it? id rather play it! Or are you gonna be another one of these guys that cries and tell me hes not worth 60 bucks lol.

Well no card should be worth 50+ dollars, but I digress. It is probably the best card out in standard of course it's worth it, but I'd gladly sell it for 50 if I pulled one from a pack. For me, if a card is worth 30+ I'm going to sell it, my deck works just fine with 10$ cards. :p

the thing is, you're feeding him misinformation. no guild by themselves is good for standard constructed. "gruul" decks aren't really gruul, just in gruul colors. the only gruul cards used in a typical R/g aggro is BTE,ghor-clan rampager and domri rade while featuring 1-2 temple garden, firefist striker and boros reckoner

My bad, I meant R/G colours. Who would use all the Gruul cards anyways?

Make your deck a tad bit better for sure though. Some of your cards just don't fit the bill.

Boros aggro typically wants a decent amount of one-drops (depending on red or white base; you got Stromkirk Noble/Legion Loyalist/Rakdos Cackler OR Boros Elite/Champion of the Parish/Dryad Militant)
I'm typically unsure of two-drops, but lightning mauler works well for a turn 3 battalion. With a white-base, Silverblade Paladin is a great card.
Three drops in the form of Boros Reckoner and Frontline Medic
Finishing the curve off at four with Hellrider, or something fun such as Sublime Archangel.
You can even go to five at the very max with a Thundermaw Hellkite.

    And that is aggro.
Your spells should be in the form of Boros Charms, Searing Spears, Pillar of Flames. Even madcap skills can be brutal.

THe thing with Spark Trooper is he gets slaughtered by pings or by first strike.

While Boros Aggro is obviously cooler, sad to say one of the lamest guilds, Gruul, is better poised for the game solely because of Burning Tree Emissary.

Wow, you really thought everything through!

I managed to use Cackler, Dryad Militant (and before Champion and Stromkirk with them) all together in one deck and it feels relatively consistent with an even number of red and white lands. Really, never keep a hand with only one color, but I feel that for the sake of having a stable hand and never having to mulligan, keeping a white or a red base and having the creatures of said base is essential. Therefore, I can totally agree with you on Champion, Boros Elite, and Dryad Militant and Doomed Traveler. Nothing feels better than to turn one a Dryad Militant and follow it up with Madcap Skills and swing for five on turn two, and a possible ten on turn three if followed with a silverblade.

Anyhow, Daring Skyjek is cool but you always have to think of things without Battalion because people are prepped against aggro now and they'll have spot removal. Is flying really that important to have? Sure, a 3/1 is very aggressive and he can trade up, but also he'd get killed by spirit tokens. Especially with the amount of soldiers and knights you have, even War Falcon seems fun to use.
Totally agree with you on your opinion on two-drops, they're super iffy and just seem like a waste.

Three-drops, however, seem to be the sweet spot followed with the tootsie-roll center of four-drops. Reckoner you can't ever not have enough, I'd honestly put him to four no matter what. Frontline Medic can be considered, he's a good guy. I'd also recommend Fiend Hunter, he's spot removal on a 1/3 body for the same cost as silverblade, but he's very very useful.

Seeing as you're white-heavy, I also must say that Faith's Shield is a great card to have. Will protect your madcapped creature from searing spears and whatnot, can save your life with its faithful hour effect, and you can just ignore your opponent's creatures by giving your creatures protection. Very versatile card. (but takes away from offense for a bit of defense).

In all honesty Boros can't keep up with Naya in any way simply because of Burning Tree Emmisary. They can get a battalion trigger off just in turn 2 alone

Just note that rotation isn't too far away, I'd at least wait for M14's release before going super serious into the deck. Some cards that you'd invest in would be unplayable in just a few months. Frown

Enter the battlefield is a dumb mechanic, should never have been printed. Resto Angel, Thragtusk... If I want a creature, I want an actual creature and not an instant strapped on to a body. Leave the battlefield effects are far more balanced as there's actual ways to stop them. The only answer to enter the battlefield is counterpsells.

I don't get it, y'all insult Wizards saying they're unqualified, and yet, you are the one following Magic, complaining about it, buying their product. Of course they're not qualified, they just have a HUGE following and making revenue. Company first, they're not slaves to the whinings of players who don't want to adapt to a meta.

The creature hate is by far the dumbest thing I've ever seen in an argument, ever. Do you honestly believe that Magic can take off where people just play Instants and Sorceries and Enchantments? Selfish players wanting permission to be a thing, as opposed to keeping Magic rolling and shutting up when the actual company is appealing to the majority. If Wizards was actually doing something wrong, do you think that they'd be making the money that they do?

The fact that some of you put creatures down as some sort of sub-par card type that only bad players play is absolutely pathetic.

    Pshhhh.

EDIT: Actually, one really important point is that a LOT of you control players are making the argument that if aggro and control switched places, then aggro players would be the ones complaining. Food for thought; if you know that this does happen, why continue to argue and complain and whine about control's current state? You're wasting oxygen.

I'm glad that the meta is like what it is right now, shows which Magic players are just bad at the game. Wink

Oh, 3 control decks in the top 8 of SCG Open. If that doesn't show that Control is doing decent to some of you folks, then you're obviously just so stubborn you can't even listen to reason. But it's your heart attack. Smile

Okey dokey, first off, I'd like to point out that if you're willing to have a debate, argument, discussion etc. over this, you're wasting time that you could be getting started on that Modern deck ^^.

Secondly, if control players enjoy playing in a Standard environment... quit whining! It's that easy.

Now I'll go on to why control is viable:
    -Supreme Verdict
    -Terminus
    -Far//Away
    -Turn//Burn
    -Crypt Incursion
-Shock and Doom Blade are about to be reprinted, answering things first and second turn.
-Like a million other cards that smash any aggro strategy
    -PLANESWALKERS

Just because there's no kill-all-two-mana-counterspell out in Standard right now doesn't mean you can't play control in standard, that's just spoiled. Shame.

You also act as though control and creatures don't mix and match. What is this korea? No, this America, Land of the Free where interracial activities are encouraged. Boros Reckoner is a card that absolutely hoses aggro, Advent of the Wurm stops em in their tracks. Snapcaster and Augur aren't your only creature cards to use like ever you know. In the real world, I'd suppose control translates to limiting another's actions and options, which is certainly what you're doing even with creatures. This is called adapting with the current meta, instead of sitting back and complaining, you go in, use the cards you want to use, and implement creatures that would help your strategy. Easy!

Bant Control with midrangey creatures is absolutely sick (then there's the argument that they're playing midrange instead of control, but some players are so nitpickey that it doesn't even matter).
Esper Control is the most boring deck in the world next to Bant Auras but it works.
Grixis Control isn't that relevant today but I'll tell you, nothing is worse than seeing them boardwipe your field and follow up with a Crypt Incursion.
    Of course there's 'Merica Control.

I will note that Burning Tree Emissary and even Thragtusk should never have been printed. But hey, Wizards printed answers to them, it's up to you to actually see that they're answers and not whine that Turn//Burn wasn't a one-mana counterspell/kill spell instead.

Gooooood. Dimir has 0 votes, let it rot at the bottom for being the lamest guild.

The entirety of Gruul is just Ghor-Clan and Burning Tree.

In terms of awesomeness flavour-wise, Boros is the best. Nothing is cooler than fiery angels, knights.
But I really like Orzhov cards in general. Blood Baron, Obzedat, so cool.
