@ Mik1994: I suppose the build is disorganized. I guess it can be called a Control/Aggro build as it currently is.
Control aspects come from cards like Meekstone, Marble Titan, Crackdown, Reverence, and Arena of the Ancients. I was thinking of originally using this sort of lockdown with Vigilance.
@ The Fett Man: Hmm neat ideas. Though Mic does raise a good point about the protection part of Jareth. Though Shroud could be nice as long as I can bounce it to another creature so I can enchant and equip Jareth.
I learned that Theros would surely have a Greek/Roman legend I could use for my first EDH deck, but I was impatient and was hoping that a greek/roman legend had already been made. I searched and searched seeing many legends but none that felt like I would ever use them that is until I read in gatherer comments about the Pit Champions. My curious piqued, I searched for all five and amongst them found Jareth who felt like a strong gladitor you would find in a roman coliseum. Even the artwork and the small backstory to him and the world he was in seemed to fit for what I wanted in a legend. However I have a budget so I couldn't spend large amounts of cash on a single card as that wouldn't feel statisfying and my interest may fade out in Jareth.
The first problem is being on a budget. I cannot just spend say +70$ on a single card. The second problem is trying to figure out how else to fill out the deck with its missing 16 cards.
The thing that tweaked me more was the utter and complete lack of Slith ANYWHERE. No vanishing to explain that, they were, possibly the ONLY, native of Mirrodin.
Either they got "sent back" to whatever homeplane they came from...
Or a Phyrexian Wizard did it.
Unexplained Plot Holes: FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
It was the worst choice to really retcon the effects of Soul Traps as any creature not shown in SoM block that appeared in Mirrodin 1.0 had raised more questions then it solved due to the logic of the retcon if explored further than the surface.
Not only that, but we can be certain they were one of the imported races.
For all we know, none remained after the vanishing.
Can I just mention again how dumb Scars was?
Seriously, Scars is the largest Voodoo Shark I've ever seen in Magic.
Quote from John Dale Beety @ Starcity Games »
The most prominent retroactive change a retcon to repopulate the plane was necessary to make the return to Mirrodin tick. In the original Mirrodin block storyline the "soul traps" that had been used to populate the plane sent almost everyone back to the appropriate plane leaving only a few main characters and soulless creations. For Scars of Mirrodin this was changed to the soul traps sending back only people who had been abducted and those born on Mirrodin stayed as they had nowhere to go. A near-empty plane would have been fine for the original plan of starting with New Phyrexia but not for the vision of all-out war between the Mirrans and Phyrexians hence the retcon.
I can see what you mean by Voodoo Shark for that reason and others.
It bummed me out that there was not even at least no infected Atog on the Phyrexian side. After all if the Mirrans see them as a pest that eats metal then wouldn't a metal eating creature be a handy weapon against the Mirrans since they were reliant on metal?
{Prior to Scars of Mirrodin}
Is the plane of Mirrodin itself essentially a large and refined artifact?
How much of it was a rarity to see an atog on the plane of Mirrodin?
{During Scars of Mirrodin}
Where were the Atogs in all this war?
Just wondering as if one could essentially gather up a large army worth of Atogs, couldn't they be a means to essentially win against the Phyrexians by eating their artifact resources?
I would love to see a fun and original a-typical story. After all everyone is the hero of their own story, no one actually sees themselves as a card carrying 2D cardboard cutout villain.
I would still like the flavor, artwork, and mechanics to be very greco/roman. Hopefully it will have very little Victorian or European themes. Tired of seeing repeated stuff all day.
Depends on your playgroup.
Are they counterspell heavy? Krosan Grip.
Are they counterspell light? Nature's Claim.
There is a reason why no two deck lists will be exactly the same and that is due to how playgroups tend to play. Do they like to beat each other with big sticks or do they try to be sneaky and counterspelly while they prepare something grand?

Kind of renews meaning into: The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Sorcery (U)
Each opponent loses two times X life. You gain life equal to the life lost this way.
Four way game + 14 Mana = 60 Life for you, -20 Life for everyone else.
