So been doing some MTGO testing with Panharmonicon and it's quite awkward for lack of a better word. It doesn't fit our curve since we ideally are casting most of the cards that it would be good with before turn 4. Maybe building a GW bounce deck with it could be a thing running displacer and things like thragtusk, witness, slime, resto etc... but it doesn't fit in a bant eldrazi shell. Sure it's fun to get 2 for 1's with TKS and such but really it's a win more card.
I've been playing this deck online for a while and it's super fun!
Now, I'm thinking about slowly buying the deck to play it on paper. I want to save money the most possible (because I have other decks and Magic is expensive...) so I can wait for a while. Either way, I'm waiting for Cavern of Souls to be reprinted before buying the whole deck.
What do you guys think I should invest in first in the mean time before Cavern gets reprinted? (I already have Nobles and Paths)
I assume that one of the best time to buy the Eldrazi creatures from Gatewatch is when they rotate out of standard during Spring 2017 right?
Also one of the things that worries me is the bannings...
Thanks!!!
I would be shocked if they banned anything from this deck anytime soon. Bant eldrazi will need to be doing way better in tournaments before anything gets considered for banning. The eldrazi cards are pretty inexpensive generally. The only big money cards are noble, EE, and cavern.
I think that guy drastically overstates the power of the deck. When decks like dredge and infect are around I wouldn't call this deck overpowered or unfair. We typically lose game 1 vs dredge, valakut decks, and several others popular decks in the format.
EE or stony silence and quick beat downs is how I beat lantern control. If it's a big issue in your meta pithing needle and some version of artifact hate is easy to add.
I was ending up with signets in my hand the whole game and never casting due to keeping up mana for counters or thirst or whatever. Since I'm not trying to jam gifts turn 3 and hope for the best I just moved away from them. Emrakul in the board is mainly for the mill matchup which I have been running into a lot online. I rarely win via Mindslaver though. Won more games with an O stone lock than mindslaver lock lol. Ugin usually wins it for me. Vs a lot of decks a resolved ugin is game over. Spellskite is awesome. Gives you a chance game 1 vs a lot of matchups.
Some reasoning's for some of my choices. Anticipate over TFK: With my artifact count much lower I don't get the value. With anticipate I can keep a few more loose hands due to the lower cmc allowing me to dig sooner. the only downside is I can get hit with spell snare but I like it so far. Reducing my tron land numbers. Tron isn't as critical for me so I cut a mine and plant for an extra hallowed fountain and basic plains. The signets weren't doing it for me but also needed to hit my colors so this is my solution. My sideboard choices: I settled on rest in peace for my GY hate. Just simpler and harder to remove. Blessed Alliance has been great. Extra help in the burn and zoo matchup always helps. And great vs infect. Emrakul is there for the mill matchup mostly but also not the worst in longer grindy matches.
Still a work in progress but it's coming along nicely.
Mixed reviews on Unsubstantiate. My thing is remand draws a.card and if it didn't I probably wouldn't play it. Sure unsubstantiate is slightly more versatile as far as the bounce aspect goes but the lack of a cantrip is a killer.
round 1: 2-1 vs mono white lifegain.
game 1 was a lot of back and forth but i ended up losing after drawing 6 lands in a row. game 2 ugin owned him after a long bout of me recycling o stone a bunch. game 3 brought some serious gy hate but he timed out but i'm pretty sure i would have won anyway.
round 2 0-2 vs a more agressive version of the deck in round 1. game 1 i drew like garbage and game 2 he had the nut draw.
round 3 2-1 vs bw tokens. game 1 slammed an early Ugin and he never recovered. Game 2 he landed a t2 stoney silence then overwhelemed me. Game 3 went sort of long with me once again leaning on academy ruins and O stone. He conceded after i put a mindslaver on him. Hallowed moonlight also did some work here since it basically counter your token spell and I draw a card.
Round 4 0-2 vs grixis delver: I suck vs this deck and always have. They always have turn 1 delver and always flip it and counter everything I do. Got smoked both games.
Round 5 2-0 vs dredge. Hallowed moonlight wad pretty good but in this matchup cage is way better. Ugin once again shined.
Some overall thoughts. Hallowed moonlight is a fine card and versatile but it does need me to keep mana up and sometimes the set it and forget it of cage is easier. Not sure where I want to go with this.
Snapcaster and Fabricate were meh. May cut them.both for some repeals to help the delver and Zoo matchup. Ugin was a superstar and wish I could justify a playset lol.
