I'm probably crazy for saying this, but I'm calling it now. Chapin is on Dredge.
I hope we get to see this deck on camera soon. Hopefully it's some sweet brew and not a case of him forgetting his deck and playing his draft deck instead lol.
I've been on Abzan Whip for the past month and am contemplating moving to a more midrange (non-whip) build. I'm finding my current deck works fine without the Whip/Queen and think it might be worth making a more focused midrange build rather than the clunky Whip version.
i dont think that little bit of defense vs doomwake is worth using the spear but saving seeker/rabble is a definate maybe. Would you be inclined to dropping spear on 3?
if you went seeker into seeker/outburst/rabble master, a drown in sorrow looks like an amazing play here.
Honestly I'm not sure but T2 seeker T3 Spear attack for 4 life link then rabble after seems ok?
What aboutSpear of Heliod? Saves tokens vs Doomwake, also as a nice side effect saves Seeker/Rabble vs Drown and makes all the tokens you churn out 2/2's which could be useful in a token mirror too possibly. Could use the "destroy" aspect vs larger guys as well.
It's probably too slow but Spiteful Blow vs Mardu or RW? Kill your mountain enchanted by Chained to the Rocks and kill your creature, and get mine back?
The colored mana can be a concern for sure. Haven't found a way around that. You really want Dig (UU), really want at least Hostilities (WW) in the board and Roc is really solid, and obviously Stoke is RR (not as much of an issue with convoke, but Anger is RR also and Outburst as well.
I would prefer keeping it to two main colors with a splash but its hard to determine which color that would be. Easy answer is "Blue" but the Digs are so good mid to late game.
I have thought of Harness by force. I dont really think we are in the market for icy/glimpse. If we could reasonably get ferious then maybe icy blast but I dont think we ever really do outside of attacking rabblemaster.
Agreed about Icy/Glimpse. Harness is probably the most viable if anything is. Maybe worth a try as an alternate option.

Ideally I'd be replacing:
3 Doomwake Giant
3 Whip of Erebos
2 Hornet Queen
4 Satyr Wayfinder
1 Reclamation Sage
2 Murderous Cut
1 Pharika, God of Affliction
And potentially adding:
2 Sorin, Solemn Visitor
3 Anafenza, the Foremost
3 Abzan Charm
Any suggestions on other cards I should consider? Do I want Fleecemane Lion? Wingmate Roc? What mix of other walkers (Elspeth, GW Ajani, Nissa)?
And what matchups does moving to the midrange archetype help/hurt me against?

Roc has been solid also since it's a 2-for-1 body with evasion and the lifegain can be helpful to pull out of certain situations too.

Kevin's my brother. Roc'n and rolling all the way to 8-0-2 with his version at SCG Richmond
