Wow, i think you are the most helpful user i've encountered =]
I will probably post an updated version of this deck and see what you and everyone else may think about it.
Just a couple more ideas, especially with keeping the deck in a budget range for play. There is that counter, stubborn denial in the side board, is it worth main boarding? and when i get finished with this deck.. do i need to keep room for the eidolon of countless battles? i do like he plays a part with the creature, but i never want to pay for the bestow without hero of iroas out... what are your thoughts?
well Nev, i really appreciate your opinions and filling me in on how the play in this new standard for me is. I will definately take the advice. I used to run the mono-black devotion deck... it dominated. But that deck was basically built for me since everyone was playing it, so in this new standard, building one for me thats my own sort of creation is pretty hard.
I really like the one drop Lagonna-band trailblazer. that you seem like one mean card, and having more one drops in this deck would only make heroic effects happen faster.
Another opinion question, which of these protection spells should be the 4-of in my deck, gods willing, feat of resistance, or ajani's presence. I feel like being able to choose a color in which to be protected from has always been better, but with the strive ability in ajani's presence i can get some nice two-for-one's.
I have the two planeswalkers in there... is it a waste? should i replace it with a cheaper substitute, trade them, and just work on the mana base? Because with how you say the consistency is more key, i would feel as though ajani steadfast is not constistant, it's bullcrap, but not necessary.
Hello everyone. I've been out of the game a little bit and I saw a build similar to mine going around as what is a pretty good deck for being not so expensive. Seeing as how many deck's mana bases alone cost three time this entire decks worth.
I have played this deck only like three times and it was against a FNM winning rakdos deck from about 7 months ago, maybe. So what i am trying to find out... with this deck, and with 30 - 40 more dollars to spend:
*what should i get? or if i should get anything?
*What are the new relevant threats that this deck could handle in the new khans of tahkir standard?
*What new threats cant it handle?
*Would it just be worth it to fork over the cash for the fetch lands?
*Am i dreaming that a non-3-colored deck can dominate it any relevant standard?
I Like the Phalanx Leader, i think it may find an entry to the deck...
But like i said, i have only played this deck a handful of times and i am trying to get this thing ready for my first FNM in a loooooong time.
Thanks for reading .
Just for reference this is what it started out as... and i am also curious to knw if maybe this way was a buit better?
I didnt expect to fall for this deck last friday, i've been playing monoblack for the majority of standard since theros dropped. But alas, i did. It was fast, firey, and a mortal kombat fatality.
I played a Golgari control, RDWs, Gruul aggro, and a monogreen devo deck last friday. All were pretty easy, usually sideing out pack rat for doom blade and ultimate price. i did a few test rounds with my budddy's $500 esper control deck and conluded that i may mainboard 2 hero's downfall and side board my lifebane zombie... maybe only 3 though.
I didnt much care for the Xathrid Necromancer way of the deck because the last thing i want tis to pay 3 mana for creatures. i like 3 mana combos, to do 2 seperate things has always been better in this game, so thats why i chose pack rat.
And with out the Mutavaults and the sidebaord the deck is only like $130, witch for good standard dcks, that's cheap. (With the sideboard and mutavault it comes out to about $250)
Well I got my but kicked at Fnm Bc of a few hands with not enough Mana. So I guess I'm a try the 26 lands instead. I was so mad. Watch, next fnm I'll get Mana flooded.
I almost think using the nyx Shrine instead of Mutavault might be better. Now that BotG has come out with some new black stuff.
It isn't a really a 17 card sideboard. What he was saying was that putting the pharika's cures which he normally would have had in the sideboard into the mainboard allows him to devote that room to other sideboardy things instead.
Oh. That makes sense (= I imagine if that was after BotG came out that would be a Bile blight.
I still don't get why they have so much land though. Once you've dropped at least 6 Mana you don'twant to top deck mana all the time
I'm have a monoblack devotion deck, basically the same as the other ones, and I've noticed in those builds of the first place ones all have 26 lands. I for one only run 24 in mine. But why does everyone run so much land in their decks?
Also, this deck linksays the way his deck is built allows him a 17 card side board. How is that possible?
I just put a lot in Tommy deck and I want it to do as well as it can (=
It has been quite a while since ive last posted a standard deck. But i have been absolutely loving this deck, but it needs.... something, you know? lol. but anyways here it is.
so there it is, i want to add some ash zealots aash zelotnd beyond that i dont know. i dont really have a side board made either, so suggestion would be good =]
i played as a kid too. it was fun, not as fun as pokemon tgc, but still good. but the new cards put into the game, for me at least, has ruined it. it used to be a lot hardher to win and more like magic in a way where you can mix and match a lot of stuff. but now the gamemakers practically make the decks. kinda like they do in magic. if you wat to try an different one than magic, i would say try pokemon... its more luck based and ca be sooo diverse... just on a side note
Still working on this same deck. I have been liking at where t is now, but it's been missing something... I think the lack if good kill spells. I know I need tragic slips . And I just got my hands on one predictor ooze. But anywho..
I am definitely going to use those planes walkers as trade-foder for lands then, though.
