I can't get my antivirus to give me the alert anymore. You may try incognito/private browsing in addition to the antivirus exception. This may prevent the temporary file from being written to your computer.
Here's the news you're waiting for up front: There are no changes to the banned list. Commander is in a good place right now. Sure, there are some potentially unfun cards out there, but most of them either telegraph their unfun-ness, or have too much potential for awesome in the right hands to be kept down. A few months of playing with the new Legend rule suggests that it hasn't made anything more problematic. As for the current list, as a thought exercise all the RC members named a card they felt was closest to being removable from the banlist. No card got named twice.
We are making a small change to the format. For a long time, the "Optional" section has confused people. Are they official optional rules? Do they apply on a per-player or per-playgroup basis? The goal of the section was to show how flexible the format could be and that there was no problem tailoring the rules to suit your playgroup, but we feel that it wasn't accomplishing this goal in its current form. So, we're going to replace it with a "House Rules" section where we discuss the philosophy of house rules and link to some popular/and or interesting ones other groups have adopted. If your group has a house rule you'd like us to consider linking to, please suggest in in this thread.
The main impact of this change is that there won't be any endorsement of sideboards as an 'official optional' rule, though playgroups continue to be welcome to house-rule them into existence as they desire. Originally, the sideboard rules were conceived as a way to give a little more structure to competitive playgroups, but that never got much uptake; the few people who did adopt sideboards mostly did so as wishboards, and not as the intended group decision.
The League Rule also goes away, but the new Legend rule made that irrelevant already.
Theros looks like it's going to be a slam-dunk for Commander - sets dripping with favor produce great generals and support cards alike - so go out and get brewing!
Hey just wanted to say this has worked for me to an extent, I keep getting a notification warning of a Trojan virus in the bottom corner, but I can now enter and view the first page of threads.
Yeah, same for me. You should still be able to view and post threads. I believe what is happening is the browser tries to cache the page, your av sees the code for the hidden iframe, and then it quarantines temporary file.
I'll see if I can come up with a workaround for this issue.
I tried to make the changes in Kaspersky 2013 & it didn't work... Well, it only worked if I put in individual pages; but as a whole (meaning, adding: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com), I am still having much trouble getting access to the first page of each post. Are there any other suggestions?
For others, the basic process is to find your web browsing antivirus settings and add http://forums.mtgsalvation.com to the safe websites (trusted websites, whitelist, etc...)
I don't have Kaspersky, but a similar process worked for my av.
You could also disable your web protection altogether, but that is not a very good idea.
The permanent fix is for the admins to remove the following line of code from the site (there may be other solutions, like making it visible):
Edit: doesn't look like there is an actual threat, but the line of code mentioned above is used by hackers/bad people to insert malware. More info about iframes http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iframe_virus
Nope for a couple reasons. A) Unearth has a cost, so at least, it'd say "2BB,t: Target creature in your graveyard gains Unearth 0." B) Wizards only brings back one keyword per set, and scry already came back. C) That actually adds about 7 words, because they would still require the reminder text for Unearth.
Isn't scry evergreen now? Or does it still count against the one returning mechanic?
I am not really sure how this idea exploits the changes to the new legend rule. Sun Titan + Pernicious Deed is a cool lock, but it really only works in Nicfit decks. In most other decks it will be too slow, and when it does get going it is not game ending.
Gaea's Cradle is the real winner of the legend rule change, followed by Mox Opal or Depths/Stage.
Also with Cataclysm note that while the card choices are made in active player, non active player order, sacrificing the permanents is simultaneous for all players. Xequecal's comment made it seem as if the sacrificing happened in APNAP order, so I wanted to clarify.
Edit: also note that the permanents are chosen upon resolution, not casting.
Other options could be Thought Scour and Funeral Charm. I like Funeral Charm because you could play Extirpate, and I like Thought Scour because it isn't useless after Extraction.
Well, I didn't claim that this was going be tearing up the modern Grand Prixs. If one wanted to play it seriously, it would need some changes (not sure what). It is fun to play though.
What do you mean hope the Emrakul sticks? It casts the Emrakul so you get an extra turn, not sure how it would be dealt with at instant speed.
Consistency is an issue when you need 2 specific cards in every opening hand.
Really you just worry about having a Surgical Extraction in your opening hand. Not having a Relentless Rats is not going to be a concern...
And I still disagree with the notion that Serum Powder is a necessity. You can usually take one or two mulligans (depending on the opposing deck). And if you don't get it after two mulligans, you either top deck it or lose.

Maybe try a wildcard (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/*). Not sure if Kaspersky supports it, but it worth trying.
Edit: looks like wildcards are supported http://support.kaspersky.com/learning/courses/kl_102.80/chapter2.2/section10.
Were you unable to read first pages even when adding explicit urls? Was the alert any different than non-first page alerts?
I would go to the Advanced Settings in the Web Anti-Virus Settings (directions here: http://support.kaspersky.com/9734#block4). Click "Configure trusted web pages" and then add http://forums.mtgsalvation.com .

Once that is done, many AVs should stop reporting the site as malicious. However, some may wait until the site is no longer blacklisted.
Brief investigation revealed that mtgs is blacklisted by Yandex for having hidden iframes. The offending line references the beta:

With Show and Tell you are selecting a card from a hidden zone. While with Cataclysm you are selecting a card(s) from a public zone. And objects in public zones remain revealed at all times. http://magiccards.info/rule/400-general.html#rule-400-2

Oh, well you don't need a Shelldock Isle in your opening hand. You can reliably draw it after Extraction (at least in the no powder version).
