So, I saw a local player attempt a deck similar to this at my local FNM and it got me thinking. I want to crowdsource the idea to see if we can game-plan and get this deck there if it is possible. It rolls over Delerium and zombies, but decks like UW Flash, UR Control and anything else running white seems to overtake it.
The idea behind the deck is to turn Rhonas on with Kefnet and using Confiscation Coup to steal their juicy cards.
Hey all, just checking in to see what everyone is crafting up. Going to be a little sad when this deck rotates, been having a lot of fun with it recently..no PPTQ results however topping local FNMs without much effort.
So I took a varient of this to Gameday today and it played exceptionally well, taking down a USA Approach and G/B +1/+1 Counters deck, however it fumbled to R/W Humans. R/W Humans was just crazy fast, I don't even think a fumigate would of solved the issue. How are you guys tackling faster decks?
I think those are fine adjustments. Authority doesn't seems very good right now. And Scarab Feast does seem like a strict upgrade to the Watchers since it does a better job of GY removal and it fits what we are trying to do. I'm interested in the Curators as they would be unexpected by almost all opponents.
The Curators have done some work, as it catches everyone except my wife off-guard. If we can get a Curator to stick, it also lets us dig our decks faster when combo out.
Hey Guys, I've been keeping my eye on these MTGO lists. I've built the Glory-Bound Initiate build and I just don't feel it. Usually always dies to push immediately. Any ideas?
Obviously now that Marvel is going to be more of a thing thanks to the PT, without a doubt taking the extra Cast Out and Grasp of Darkness from the Sideboard and putting in two Anguished Unmaking. I also want to find room for Lost Legacy which I may switch out for the Selfless Spirit as I don't believe she really used those as they were in there as a board-wipe precaution. Avacyn is also in there as a board-wipe precaution however she has been doing a lot more than just that and has easily won games for her when she needs that extra push.
Another card to consider is Time to Reflect as it is absolutely bonkers. Even though the card is "past-tense" with the worked "blocked" you can apparently cast it immediately after blockers are declared before damage is dealt, which gives this deck the ability to play against bigger creatures. Also, not too many people in our area knew about the Plague Belcher / Relentless Dead interaction (so if I'm giving away a secret, woops). I noticed a lot of players trying to play around Relentless dead, not giving her an opportunity to use his ability to pull from the graveyard, in comes Plague Belcher. Hit the Relentless dead with 2 -1/-1, trigger his ability and either freely bounce it back to hand or do that and get something out of the yard. We also decided on Gideon, Ally mainboard as it is truly OP in this deck.
In my opinion, drop the Evolving Wilds for more cycle lands, maybe Sheltered Thicket because you can cycle it. However I'm not sure how i feel about Channeler Initiate as 9/10 times it will just be pushed before you get to use it, I do like the inclusion of Corrupted Grafstone.
It was built upon the cycling deck that popped up on MTGO. The original list played like crap, and I piloted it to a 1-4 record. I made the above adjustments and the deck runs a lot smoother now, with the ability to go aggro with the Curators, Angels and Spell Quellers.
I'm debating taking Authority of the Consuls out for something and Watchers of the dead out for Scarab Feast or even run my own Lost Legacy
Against decks which run Lost Legacy how should we fight back?
We could:
Run 3-4x Angel of Sanctions and sweepers as an ult wincon seems viable since they should be cutting down removals against us.
or
Bring in Negates and try and get lucky.
I actually just posted on this issue over in the Second Sun thread. Figured I'd start posting here as well as my deck does revolve around New Perspectives in order to get Approach faster. Needless to say, I'm debating going full on control sideboard with Spell Queller, a playset of Negate, 3 Disallow and 2 Dispel. Yes, it slows down the deck A LOT but being a little slow and safer vs Lost Legacy may be the way to go. I'm making a Meta Prediction here in that we won't see to many full-on control decks until next set.
I feel like it is a stretch for working with 2 different cards. Now maybe if you were playing Diregraf Colossus, and more zombies, that could be a thing.
Hey there guys, this topic has most likely been asked a half a dozen times but I'm trying to prepare for my first Grand Prix. I want to jump on this opportunity because it is a sealed format so it's quite the level playing field. What are some tips you guys can lend me to help prepare me for this upcoming Grand Prix in Orlando?
G1 - minimum removal meant quick game loss
G2 - Side-boarded my counterspells out for AoTG and Cyclonic Rift. Was able to control the board until he ran out of steam for the win
G3 - Once again controlled the board until opponent ran out of steam for the win.
Round 2 vs Mono-Black Aggro - LOSS
G1 - a non-answered Pain seer into pack rat makes the game end quickly
G2 - side-boarded in thoughtseize and cyclonic rifts in exchange for counterspells. Put up a better fight but met my demise when Erebos his the field.
Round 3 vs Esper Control - WIN
G1 - was able to control the game until Jace, Memory Adept hit the field unanswered, opponent scooped to game 2.
G2 - Sideboard all but 3 dreadbores out in exchange for thoughtseize, counterflux and gainsay. Landed Ashiok after countering a Jace, Architect of Thought. Ashiok continued to hit all of my opponents answers allowing Jace, Memory Adept to hit the field and win the game.
Round 4 vs Mono-Black - LOSS
G1 - Shut down pain seer to not make the same mistakes as my first MonoB matchup. Erebos into whip ends the game.
G2 - Spiteful returned is a ****.
Round 5 vs USA Heroic - WIN
G1 - turn 4 Jace, AoT shut down my opponents 1/X creatures. Handful of removal shuts the deck down into a Memory Adept win.
G2 - Kept a hand of 3 lands and 4 removal, continued to draw into removal thus shutting my opponents deck plan down for an easy win by Memory Adept.
While Morgue Burst does seem pretty game-breaking, it would only fit the slot as a 1-of, and with consuming also being a 1-of, the chances of consistency are extremely low.
