There are dormant Phyrexian engines being dug up on Dominaria all the time. However, there's almost no oil left on the plane outside a preserved sample in Tolaria West. The Coalition symbol on Braids' chest also tell me she isn't working for the Phyrexians.Quote from TwinfrodoPhoenix »Quote from sleeper agent 2.0 »

Quote from HighHolder »Braids compleated makes zero sense. Events in odyssey block happened Millenia before invasion from my recollection.
Yawgmoth is defeated in 4205 and Odyssey block starts roughly 100 years later.

But it still doesn't make sense that Braids would be compleated in modern Dominaria/Dominaria United, which is way after Odyssey block, right?. That does look a lot like her, but I don't know how she could survive this long to get compleated by new Phyrexia, and we didn't see any of her in Dominaria despite lots of other Odyssey block remnants or descendants making an appearance. (I also wouldn't draw too much from the collector booster box art, these tend to be far afield of how the cards look in their regular canonical art.)
Quote from Giianzha »Braids is compleated because Wrenn compleated her .
This makes even less sense.
I’m wondering if there’s been a colony on Dominaria that’s been festering for a while. Aren’t parts of Urborg supposed to be tainted by the glistening oil? My guess is they’ve corrupted some of the cabal in the area and completed braids some time around her apparent death. I’m not especially vorthos so this is just stuff I’ve picked off the wiki. Maybe the doninarian phyrexians were mostly leaderless and Sheoldred will unit them and lead an offensive against dominaria?
With all the crap Urza created in the early days of the game, how are we still complaining about random scifi elements in the game? Plus, I've seen enough cases of people tearing up Un-cards while other people are still playing games with them that I doubt any disdain for these products will go away even if they were standalone. The real test for these precons will be how many of they will lie in shreds in LGS trash cans.Quote from Jh216 »Quote from Dale Dan Tony »Quote from TetzaHexloq »Quote from soramaro »I hate that people will gobble up all these garbage DND, 40K and LotR sets.
Nom,nom,nom.
Also, why do you care what other people like?
Because they're being big mad children and if they can't like it, neither can we!
You (and many others) completely fail to see why people dislike this. Magic has always been a fantasy game. Boltguns, tanks, spaceships and the likes have no place getting mixed into a fantasy game. UB is an escalation of crossing a very undesirable line that started with SL. Since it’s a Commander product you could potentially be forced to deal with these themed cards whether you wist to or not because an opponent could plop them on the table at any given moment.
So this is not a matter of you not being allowed to like something. It is a matter of everybody being forced to like it or having to deal with it. If this was a stand-alone product not mixed into the rest of the game nobody would mind.

This is not the sort of card that would make you add DFC's to a set, but once they're already in, it's an interesting and flavorful design that makes good use of them.
