  • posted a message on Khans of Tarkir Charms are weird?
The other day at the Release draft I noticed that the charms seemed to be a bit glossier. I asked a couple people there and they agreed with me. Tonight doing a for fun sealed with a friend he asked if I had noticed that they had a weird texture. Upon examination myself they seemed to definitely be a bit more rough than other cards. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this and if there was any explanation? My buddy said he could feel the charms when he shuffled and sure enough was able to pick his only charm out of the deck without looking. I know people don't really do events with out sleeves but this still a little questionable.

I support any and all new tribal lords! Even if I don't like centaurs much! I hope one day I'll get my Squirrel and Wolf lords.

Forgetting about this guy or does it have to be a squirrel? More on topic, mediocre rare tho to powerful at uncommon? what with merrow reejerey at uncommon maybe not...

Think this is strong evidence that people are terrible at evaluating cards. Lets see Fates Foretold is cheaper than divination, you cantrip automatically, you trigger heroic, you put it on creature they must destroy or would have chumped blocked anyway, you don't have to sacrifice your own creature....Have you played the game at all?

Bad card is bad. It relies far to heavily on you having a creature and if you don't then it's a dead card unless you are okay with paying two too draw a card and have you're opponent get a free card. Heroic is not a deck and won't be until atleast the next set and even then I'm not convinced. It's far too conditional paired with never knowing when you'll draw that next card or if you will at all (creature dies) makes this card bad.

Only reason I say Hybrid so it is technically easier to reach devotion. Trying to get 5 mana of the same type across two colors will be a mission. if that is the case... maybe they will be much more powerful.

I'm betting they are for example 2WU which would be the same amount of devotion the Theros god cards get assuming they can animate off of either color. It would be the same as with :3mana::symwu: but as previously stated hybrid won't be an issue in Theros tho I'm not convinced they mean the block verses set.

he actualy is even better than farseek in most cases. there are really a low number of cards which can actualy remove this guy.
it can create any mana, and you can even use him to block early agression since he is 0/3.

sure he is a little less save as farseek, but since you can use him to block and he creates any mana you want, i think he is even better.

Farseek thins your deck, can't be killed easily, lets you enchant a land if that's your thing, can be flashed back. This guy won't block much cause you'll probably be tapping him for mana or you'll end up using him to block with more then as a dork. You want to ramp early not keep him untapped to block with. Helps devotion which is kinda cool but otherwise I would say not better then farseek. Better then gyre sage and will definitely see play in farseeks place once it rotates but not better.

My guess is it's planned, not unfortunate :>

Both are true in my opinion. It would have been fun and and a good enabler for all those almost playable miracles. That's okay tho cause scry has always been one of my favorite mechanics starting with Sage Owl. I know it's not scry but that started my love for deck manipulation and then came the beautiful Augury Owl. My only regret is that by the time Augury Owl was created I had been playing real magic for years and never really used it outside of limited. Very excited to play scry, I can finally get use from my FNM Magma Jets!

    Maybe

    Theros Dual land {R}{W}

    Land - Rare

Theros Dual land come into play tapped.

when Theros Dual Land come into play look at top 2 card of your library. If at least one of them is red or white card you may reveal it and Theros Dual land come into play untapped. put those card back in any order.

I like that idea but I think it would use scry and read more like "~ etb tapped scry 2, then you may reveal the top card of your library, if it is red or white untap ~" scry 2 on a land may be to good tho. It's unfortunate we get scry after miracle rotates as well.

Is he salvaging from the same skeleton from the DGM version of Putrefy? OMG

Unfortunately this looks like a missed opportunity. The skeleton in Putrefy has larger pauldrons and is up against a wall. :/
