What States tourney? States isn't until next weekend...
Unless they were running their own tourney not associated with the organized state championships.
Another option is to drop the alpha authority and go for one more champ and one more summoning, caverns aren't totally necessary either, could put mutavault in its place and caverns in side for control.
Just remember to also always use savage summoning with predator ooze when playing Jund or anything with black. Your ooze will be susceptible to tragic slip the second it hits play unless you bring in with a counter on it through summoning.
Champion draws a lot of removal so running 4 is good for drawing out doom blade and such but you would rather have a bigger threat in most cases so 2 is the proper number I think.
If you revenge onto the champion they shouldn't be able to block anything... Almost no playable creatures in standard are 7/7 except griselbrand or craterhoof. The whole point is to revenge your champion and make your whole army unblockable so you can go in for the kill.
Post an updated deck list so we can see where you are at. Easier to see it in list firm then to try and follow the changes through the posts. I'm working on a dega list as well but not sure if it's more aggro or more midrange. Almost has a vampire tribal going on but included things like spike jester and ogre battledriver and reckoner.
Unless they azo charm to tempo I'm hoping the alpha authority gives them enough defense. Plus also causes a tough block on any trampler as they can only block with one creature. Also runs wasteland as a combat trick if I swing in with an elf to try and draw out a block.
Updated list...
Gyre sage is almost always unnecessary outside a pure elf deck. I'd suggest arbor elf for more ramp or replace with a new threat.
Also 95% of the time you will never ultimate garruk...any if them. You will either want to use his card draw or his fight to kill something. If you make it to the ultimate you should be winning that turn. But his best use is his +1. Recurring card draw at the end of the game when you are in top deck mode is too powerful not to include. I wouldn't take him out.
