But I feel like I need at least 2 more swamp to support mutilate. If uncut anything else I feel like ill be to short in the other colors.
I think the only good sweeper for Grixis right now is Magmaquake, you still have a long time to play with it until Theros comes along, and hopefully they reprint Damnation in that block.
I'm a bit confused as to why this is a thread for Mono-Black Control and the decklists given aren't Mono-Black. That being said, I've thrown together a Mono-Black Control deck were all my lands tap for Black Mana (or colorless, but those will likely be tapping for other reasons):
Only if they bring back the old author's to go along with it. If they keep turning writing over to people like Wintermute, it's just a waste of paper in the end.
As for Elspeth, after the "revelations" of New Phyrexia, I don't really trust Wizards to convey a good story with the character, so I can only hope that her card is decent, though not overpowered, because I haven't been brewing anything with white and Sphinx's Rev doesn't need another buddy. :\
That's true, but there's always a chance to be optimistic and hope for good stories, right? But it's better off to be pessimistic and be pleasantly surprised if they do have good stories with great authors writing them. Still, it'd be nice to see a lot of flavor in the cards that relate to written books, instead of small blurbs and weekly articles.
Since it's Elspeth, I'm pretty sure it'll be guaranteed that her card will be very good.
Shut up, seriously, this is self important garbage, and in green text no less! Make sure you stand out while spouting idiocy.
I would hate to know you in real life, I bet you are the **** that nobody can stand to be around. You play the game? You love the game enough to post on this forum, yet you advocate for its destruction, so much fail...
Why are you not talking about the topic, and only commentating on a single post? Why are you focusing on his text being green?
It might be cool if Elspeth is in this set, although I would like to see the novels come back along with some older planeswalkers.
Something tells me you're thinking of Krond and Vela.
Not at first, I was thinking this because of a large guess due to the backdrop of the promo image for Theros, along with the fact that, going backwards from Journey into Nyx, with Nyx meaning Night, which can be inferred as cold, dark, damp and a best place to backstab people, Theros would mean the opposite of the Nyx theme. thanks for bringing those two up though.
Maybe Theros would have more G/W cards, while born of the gods will be mixed, and Journey into Nyx would have great B/U cards. Hopefully. Also, maybe the Nimbus Maze or River of Tears will come back with their cycle.
Not a grixis player, but i have played extensively with UWC.
It's one of the best cards you can stuff into any deck playing black that has a way of gaining life. 2 VNH isn't really enough lifegain to matter, but UWC is such a ridiculous card advantage engine that it almost doesn't matter in non aggro matchups.
Again, not a control player, but i would put the think twice in MD and UWC in the side, coming in against literally every single non-aggro matchup in place of think twice.
Thank you for the advice, I'll take the Rakdos' Charms out of the SB, since they don't do anything in my meta at all.
Excuse me, but this is my first control deck, and while it went well in my FNM's the past few Fridays, only losing to the Aristocrats and a custom Orzhov zombie deck, winning against Bant Auras, Golgari Aggro and another aggro deck 2-2 most of the time, I still want to know what I can improve with it.
Master of Cruelties has been actually useful, helping me close out a few games, AEtherling is the ****, the Vamps help me gain life and do good trades, Sphinx is nice too.
I'm looking to improve this deck overall, having 2 Dreadbores, a Desolate Lighthouse, 2 Rewinds, 3 Auger of Bolas and 2 Barter in Blood lying around, and I ordered 2 Think Twice's to probably replace the Underworld Connections. Any advice/feedback please?
I need some input for this Ana deck of mine, since I'm thinking about replacing one of the 3 drop slots with Renegade Krasis, which seems really good. This is basically evolve.dec
Corpsejack and Biomancer are the best of friends here, provided I get them both out (deck still does well without them in play), making a Cloudfin Raptor a 4/5 for U, and generally making the creatures pretty big for their price.
Gyre Sage can make a Biomass Mutation at least go for 4 or more in the X cost, and has the 2 toughness, so that it can evolve a Experiment One/Raptor on the second turn. She can also feed mana for Ooze flux, Rancors, and anything else so that I can save my own lands for stuff like Putrefy.
Lotleth is a good attacker if I have dead creatures in hand (EOne and Raptor), and can survive from kill spells/wipes, because of regen. Evolves 1/2 Raptors also.
Elusive Krasis is unblockable, and can be a very good blocker when needed. That's all that's going for the fish head.
Dreg has haste and is a 3/3, and has scavenge. Good enough for me.
I'm thinking about maybe putting in Renegrade Krasis instead of Elusive Krasis or Dreg Mangler, but don't know who to replace.
Shambleshark and Strangleroot Geist seem to be good contenders for the 2 drop slot, but they don't have the versatility or resilience that Sage or Lotleth have, respectively. Lotleth can regen, while Geist simmers away after it dies with a +1/+1 on it, and shambleshark is just a good evolver, but so is the Sage. Flash doesn't really matter for it.
Any advice or criticism anyone could offer? I still need to develop a sideboard for this deck just so you know.
if blue is too weak in modern format for knights, would junk work? (black/green/white). there are some strong black knights right guys? i have an idea for a deck, for that, would you guys be interested?
Of course, Necra would be fine, one of the best wedge combinations ever. I would like to see your list/idea.
cool! do you think court hussar as well as ethercaste knight might be plausible as well? are you going to be focusing on exalted mechanic for bant?
The OP Nabby uses Court Hussar for it's Ponder effect, along with being a good blocker in his Legacy lists, so that'd be good to put in. Wouldn't the Exalted mechanic be shabby for modern, especially since blue gets the very short end of the stick for Knights.
EDIT: Knotvine Paladin would be good for the Exalted idea in my opinion.

Probably not, since it costs mana to use, while Goblin Bombardment was free to deal damage. Test it out though, see how it is and see if it works.
Lack of creativity to make an actual mono-black deck, and for more utility but still wanting to call it mono-black when it isn't mono-black.

Some people like Junk and don't want to play Reanimator.
