My pick is Nykthos. It may be weaker at the moment in mult-colour but when we move out of RTR next year and into more mono-coloured decks it'll really shine, especially as you can now chain into a second one.
I mean. Maybe my card evaluation is awful but something about casting this on 2 and then playing unflinching courage and swinging for 10 lifelink trample rustles my jimmies.
Drop him T3. Put a Madcap Skills and Titan's Strength on him T4 and win.
2/2 becomes a 6/3 and then becomes a 10/4 doublestriker.
This is not an unrealistic magical christmasland scenario. He's not as useful as a Silverblade Paladin but he's still not too shabby either. I think some people come on MTGS to compete with others as to how jaded they are. People complained about Silverblade Paladin and I've lost count of how many times that wee knight has won games for me, he's great. I'm sure that Fabled Hero's going to be as much of a removal target as SP. No-ones going to look across the board and say "Oh, it's only a Fabled Hero. What a loser my opponent must be to have that in their decks. Wake me up when there's something worth Abrupt Decaying."
I was rather thinking about T1 Favored Hoplite ; T2 Ordeal => kinda cool to attack with a 3/4 on T2 against red.
Oooh..he gets big quick.
There seems to be several permutations that allows Boros Weenie a very fast start.
T2 White Ordeal, T3 White Ordeal (hold back a Brave the Elements, just in case) T4 Madcap Skills and swing for 10 - if there's no blocks then Boros Charm for doublestrike and 20 damage.
Question is what's the rest of the curve? Precinct Captain for more soldiers? Fencing Ace for doublestrike fun? Phalanx Leader for +1/+1 counters everywhere (also speeds up your Ordeals), the new pegasus to make all your human weenies fly?
T1 Soldier of The Pantheon followed by an Ordeal of Heliod T2 and another Ordeal of Heliod T3 doubles your life total that turn and leaves you with a 5/4 soldier.
It has deathtouch...this with a suite of black auras = no creatures for your opp.
Golgari deathtouch deck with Enlarge? Pity Revenge of the Hunted is rotating out.
I fused Armed//Dangerous twice at the prerelease and won immediately both times. It's an excellent Limited card and definitely a high pick. I think it would be a great sideboard card for RG aggro and worth bringing in if your opponent's not packing counterspells.
Why the moaning? Creatures are (usually) cast at sorcery speed so whining that you can't flash in an 8/8 elemental token or a 4/4 Angel token for ONE MANA is lame. What next? I'm sure if they reprinted Time Vault it would be met with a chorus of "meh", "limited fodder" and "unusable in constructed".
I, for one, look forward to extra Entreated Angels, Skirsdag Demons and especially to my permanentised 1cc Geist Angels that I won't need to splash green to get.
Ral Zarek is fine. The ability to be able to tap something, untap it and tap it again is a good one. The second ability's pretty good but the ultimate means you have just a tiny chance of not getting an extra turn. Five coin flips should get you TWO extra turns. I like him and I'm quite looking forward to him in a goblin swarm deck with Krenko.
What about reverberate? You'd get to copy your own steal spells of course but with the added benefit of stealing a copy of your opponent's spells from time to time. Hmmm..Sphinx's Revelation? Bonfire of the Damned? Don't mind if I do...
I think if I was drafting to win I'd be going Boros or Gruul. I think that you'll be lucky to draft a solid Orzhov deck but both it and Dimir will shine in block constructed. Overall I think all the guilds will balance out. It would be fun to do a 10-way guild feud after Dragon's Maze. I'm thinking a cross between EDH and Standard - 60 card decks with a guild leader Commander (command zone, color identity, etc) and normal Standard rules. Last Guild standing wins.
As I recall he said there would be no cycle of Hybrid one-drops in the set. That still allows for one or two. Which explains the reprint of Beckon Apparition.

3 drops? Frontline Medics? Fiendslayer Paladins? Wingsteed Riders?
Your T5 Blood Baron gets scary.

- Kinght of the Reliquary
- Qasali Pridemage
+ Silverblade Paladin
+ Geist of St Traft
+ Marsh Flats
+ Tainted Strike (black mana from adjusted mana base inc. Overgrown Tomb and Watery Grave)
Kills turn 3 with a double striking, tainted striking geist angel.

Sir, You are indeed correct.
Rosewater said there'd be no 1 drop hybrids in this set.
