On the topic of dead eye. I see it as a win more card if anything. You need something to loop it with, and if you don't, it's a dead card. Also, people who usually play dead eye are people who will play loops anyways or people who see it fit well in their deck(cough ezuri cough).
On the topic of the banlist. It's a guideline, not something that has to be followed. House unbans can be common, and people are usually pretty chill with them.

4/15/2013 If you cast this as normal during your main phase, it will enter the battlefield and you'll receive priority. If no abilities trigger because of this, you can activate its ability immediately, before any other player has a chance to remove it from the battlefield.

    Thanks for the ruling.
On a different card. The RC seemed to have banned multiple 'one-card' win conditions/broken cards, even though they are hard to pull off;if so, why isn't Tooth and nail banned?
It's a one card win condition that costs 9 mana and is incredibly easy to pull off? All you need is the one card to resolve.
Coalition victory requires 5 different land types, Biorhythm requires a clear board/little creatures while you have a bunch, Worldfire requires a very lucky topdeck/casting it at instant speed in response to a gut shot or a burn card, and Sway requires you to float a bunch of mana when the spell already costs 10. At least the ones that are banned can be considered sneaky ways to win. Tooth and nail is, well, a one card win condition. Yes, it has the potential to be interesting, but 1/2 of the time, it searches an infinite combo or a way to win.

I hope you aren't serious. There is a world of difference between Sol Ring and Command Tower. Tower's effect is shared by around 35 different cards. Ring's effect (early game extreme gas) is shared by 2 legal and 6 non-legal cards.

You missed the point; I wasn't saying that Sol ring is balanced, I said that if Sol Ring were to be banned, it should not be because of popularity. Yes Sol ring is very strong, but if it should be banned, it should be because it is too strong, not because it is a staple.
On a different topic, what's the broken loop with recurring nightmare? It's powerful, sure, but is it that game-breaking? It doesn't seem that strong. Yes, it's cost to bounce it, but instant speed enchantment removal stops the card.

Mono colored is your best bet. Onmath, Locus of mana is really cheap and fun. Big beatsticks for days.

I just thought that it would be easier to organize, but ISB already mentioned the problems. Making a primer on "how to get EDH" is an interesting idea, but I'm not the best at making primers, considering I JUST got back into Magic a month ago after a year break.

Cards I own: 3x Terminate, playset of hallowed fountains and flooded strands,1 bolt,2 volcanic fallout, 3x Duress, 3x path, damnation, black sun zenith.
Colors I like to play: everything
    style: Aggro, control
Budget: anything not over $400(excluding cards I own)
Level I want to play with: Casual, but if the deck could evolve into a more competitive deck for the future that would be awesome.

The moxen won't come off the banlist anytime soon. They're pretty much free ramp spells that produce colored mana, not to mention the price tag on it.
I don't think that Sol Ring should be banned simply because it's played in almost every optimized commander deck. Command tower is played in almost every commander deck and no one's complaining about it. Sol Ring is simply a good card in commander, and so is command tower. Should both be banned because both are good cards in Commander and because they are staples in almost every commander deck? I don't think so.

What if we do a "what deck should I buy/get into" thread? It might help clog the threads less, but I'm not sure if it will work because EDH doesn't really have a metagame, unlike Modern, Standard, Legacy, and Vintage.

    Vorinclex, voice of hunger
People could play around it, and I would rarely get value out of it once it hit the board simply because it would get removed; Jin-Gitaxis, core augur, on the other hand, was a draw 7/have an opponent lose his hand when played at the right time.
    Iona, shield of Emeria
Unfair win condition is unfair. It only locks certain players out of the game, not all. It also doesn't really give decks a chance to come back.

    Hello, been a while.
On the topic of Sol Ring: I feel like Sol Ring is a necessary evil for decks that cannot ramp fast so that one can make big plays without having to run too many mana rocks and the like. Yes Sol ring is good at any stage of the game; but in the end, EDH is a social format, not one that is meant to be completely balanced. By banning Sol Ring, you force decks that can't ramp to run more mana rocks, thus forcing their decks to be sub-optimal and maybe not on par with decks that ramp super fast(cough Omnath).
I can't really say anything about prophet, but I feel like it's fine. Staples aren't necessarily a bad thing, and not everyone wants to copy a Prophet. It's rare for me to want to clone a prophet, unless it's dropped turn 3/4, and even then it's sub-optimal turn 3 and 4 play because you don't have enough gas for your big plays yet(although flashing in your commander is always fun).

I rarely get tired of The Mimeoplasm. Reanimating and dredging have always been pretty cool IMO.
Honestly, just try and find a mechanic you think is crazy and cool, THEN you'll probably find a deck that you would really like.
