Why not run 4 shadowborn demons? 5/6 flying removal on a stick for 5cmc is legit, and it's a great whip target.

I run a deck with the same idea, except instead of trying to use the blood artist/ sac outlet combo i use 4 intangible virtues and 4 Sorins and commit to tokens. It's very potent, and no one has hate cards in their decks for tokens at the moment.

Also honorable mention for Molten Birth. I've been trying it out, and maybe i'm just lucky with the flips, but on turn 3 after you drop pyro (or virtue) on turn 2, you get 3 tokens (or two 2/2s) and it doesn't cost you a card.

There was a disagreement in our playgroup tonight when I was blocking a 2/1 double strike+trample with a 1/1 spirit token. According to this rule found on the wizards.com website, "If all the blocking creatures are killed in the first damage step, the creature with double strike won't deal damage during the second damage step" it's an absolute statement and that's the way i learned it.

So my question is does a creature with doublestrike and trample that kills all blockers in the first combat step strike again in the normal combat step? Should that statement say at the end "unless this creature has trample."?

Probly won't win any tournaments, but Kalonian Hydra with Archangel of Thune and gavony township seems insanely powerful in junk.

I've already built a modern legal deck to exploit archangel, and Kalonian Hydra will definitely be worth trying out (probably a major winmore though lol).

Also, after rotation i can see this guy doing something with corpsejack menace and master biomancer.

Not a fan of mind rot... dead card with sire out and after a rakdos returns. Looks like it might be a cool deck for Master of Cruelties + Rogue's Passage combo

blue eyes > blue sliver This is a very simple trick to show the color identity of a creature without using other indicators. I like the fact that the artist used warm colors for the sliver and the background, expecially because he/she could have used a sea landscape, considering the fact that the hive is canonically a seaside location.

It's a red sliver, in the mountains, and to me, his eyes look white not blue. I could be wrong, but i just cant see this being a blue card.

Here's what i think would be sweet, and has some cool synergy with young pyromancer...

    3CMC, 3 loyalty
+1: Until end of turn, all your creatures gain bloodthirst 2
    -2: Act of treason
-5: Self only wheel of fortune

    - Reprinting the gates with new art was silly; they should have printed new gates (maybe tri-color gates, or single color gates or even both), and more cards that work with them.

Making guildgates with more/less colors would totally go against the flavor/lore of the sets. There are only 10 guilds, and therefore 10 guildgates on ravnica. Furthermore, what are you going to do with a 1 color guildgate?

The cluestones should not have been printed as they were; they were all "the same". They should have done something different that related to each guild.

They already made the keyrunes, and those were uncommon. We have a new special uncommon cycle in the split cards. I like the cluestones, they're great for commander, much better than printing some useless common like a 5 CMC enchantment that gives a creature haste. They also give people who can't afford to pay for shock lands a way to fix their mana and not cost them a card later.

    - The set seemed too small. There didn't seem to be enough variety within the cards themselves. Everything was too concentrated in order to give each guild the one card from "the group" it needed (one split uncommon each, one rare that was split between two guilds, etc). It should have been a large set, and it should have had more variety within it.

Pretty much all 3rd sets in blocks are smaller than the other 2. It's not meant to be a stand alone set, its meant to augment the other 2 sets in the block.

    - Most of the legends seem very underwhelming, and don't seem to work with the guild mechanics as a whole. As well, the guild mechanics were far too little represented, and there are too few cards that seem to "take advantage" of the mechanics to build decks around.

I agree with you to a certain extent on this. However, i think a lot of us got our hopes up too much when we heard about the maze runners. After thinking about it, they already printed the guild leaders, and they couldn't make the maze runners better than the guild leaders (except gruul lol), so i think we just got our hopes up too high. Some are cool though, and i think most have a great casual/commander appeal.

Because opening up the format to more possible deck archetypes is a bad thing? I'm puzzled too.

I think he means playing several colors should be a high risk/high reward, which i think i agree with. If you can play all colors with no consequences, you might see decks with like 30 mythics in it, and it'll widen the gap between competitive players and casual players. I already hear too much complaining about "whoever spends the most money wins" in my area.

I'm hoping for filter lands, don't have any of them and they'd be great in some of my edh decks.

Here's a deck i came up with that might have some potential. The main idea is to exploit izzet staticaster+high priest of penance+legion's initiative. Originally started out as a casual gate deck using hold the gates but i'd like to try to make it as competitive as possible, and the words "competitive" and "gate" don't belong in the same sentence :P. Would appreciate any feedback!

Basically this deck gives you several lines of play, should stonewall aggro, have plenty of removal against midrange, and have all the best sideboard cards against control. The main thing I'm worried about/need help with is the mana base. Also i just threw the sideboard together without putting a whole lot of thought into it.

Am I trying to do too much with it? 4 colors too much? Am I living in happy fantasy magic land? or could this actually work? please let me know what you think!

I think delver of secrets would be an amazing addition to your deck. If you can afford it, snapcaster mage could do some serious work as well.

never said it sucked. its not competitive however.
like i said your butthurt cause someone doesnt agree with you. I said numerous times ive tried playing the deck and how i love the color combo.
its not competitive. Competitive decks top 8 at least occasionally.
ive also stated my reasons and backed up my opinion with insight. Youve just blindly got mad for no reason. whatever.

Last time I checked, this color combo won the last pro tour, and it came out of nowhere. While it was a little while ago, sphinx rev was in the format, and this color combo did beat it.

I don't think anyone's "mad", but it basically sounds like you're saying "this color combo sucks, /thread". People are trying to have a conversation about a creative deck and trying to figure out HOW to make it competitive.

I guess when it comes down to it, you sound like an elitist who's saying "if you try to play these colors, you're a noob." Probably not what you're saying, but it comes across as such.
