Had my first standard deck ever that was playable (naya pod) back when bonfire was 50 bucks, my deck was around 400 bucks. I was at FNM, some kids who never attend showed up and started messing around, I took my eyes off for a sec and it was gone.
If you think that Thragtusk/Angel/Revelation are the only cards in the format, you have no imagination. I beat all of those cards all the time with a deck I brewed myself in an archetype that everyone says can't be done.
Some people say that every competitive archetype/deck is always discovered and played in every competitive standard environment. If it doesn't T8, its not a deck. I'm of the opinion that for every deck that T8's there are several hundred other equally viable decks available that just aren't played. The entire format is NEVER discovered. That's because 98% of players believe themselves to be professional level (when in fact they are not) and thats there are only a few possible combinations of decks, so rather than innovate, they just jump on the bandwagon. I think its hilarious when people bring their netdecked thragtusk.dec ripped straight from a T8 list and get stomped by my completely unique rogue deck. It just proves that its not the deck thats powerful, its the understanding of how to use the cards in the proper context of the format. And it's not because theyre a bad player, its just because they don't understand the format. They just see "play these cards and win" rather than "play this strategy and win". You need to understand why your deck wins, not just how it wins.
It's going to fall on deaf ears anyways but there it is.
I think they are, at least in Standard. Imagine a UW tempo deck or a Bant control deck, against UW with Supreme Verdict you are pretty much screwed because you can´t do anything about it (except playing around it, which slows you down a ton) and same with Slaughter Games, you have zero control over it.
Card´s amazing, I already thought of an extremely unrealistic t3 kill with it.
t1 arbor elf t2 emissary into mauler into rancor attack for 6 go
at this point we assume the opp has shocked himself to play a farseek so he´s at 12
t3 draw a hellrider play it attack trigger goes down to 9 and combat hit for 9
98%? Source?
He just asked why he was doing it, calm down.
Yes or at least Hasbro
Supreme Verdict
Slaughter Games
Loxodon Smiter
Abrupt Decay
Counterflux
