Neheb (and to me the new karn) can be nice new cards to toy around on traditional builds (sadly no new stuff for dragons)
Regarding skred in general. I've been struggling against grixis shadow lately...I just don't figure out how to win besides blood moon t2 or getting lucky enough. What's the general view of the match up?
On another note, I have finished white bordering all my mountains and i wanted to share it with you. If moon tilts our opponents, moon + white border lands gotta be even better haha.
Theorically Heart of Kiran is good enough because you can do t2 heart, t3 sarkhan, ping for 4 and still be able to block (your clock speeds up a lot). But im not sold on it either. Is a good combination and applies early pressure but if we don't have a walker is a terrible topdeck. The thing is that we want at least 1 as early as t2 but not more than 1 on the rest of the game. It would be awesome if we could get a 4/4 dragon for 1 or 2 mana a la Slumbering dragon to crew it early
Anyone on Dragon Skred recently? I haven't seen anyone talking about it lately.
Hi first post on skred, but always a reader. I only played 2 events with dragon skred and i liked it a lot. Most of the time when noting the cards or deciding to keep a hand it just seems a pile of casual dragons + bloodmoon but, for a reason i do not know, tapping 4/5 lands for dragons gets out of control quickly.
I played an endyear tourney of 35 ppl and made top 4, and recently made a 3-1 at FNM
This is the stock list i was running (for the fnm i changed the draconic roars for 2 abrades, 1 dismember and the 3rd anger)
Overall i only lost to Bogles and grixis death shadow (beat hardened scales, mono r pheonix, dredge, ub mill, scapeshift and izzet control)
I don't think sarkhan is that bad as ppl say. Looting in this kind of deck is awesome and getting hasty dragons earlier is where i want to be.
I guess that simian spirit guides are more crucial to this build since you want to soft lock with moon, to safely reach 4/5 mana, or get a sarkhan t2 to start deplying dragons as early as t3 (so i want to make room for at least 3).
On note for thundermaw hellkite: is a funny single that actually won me a match against dredge tapping the flyers for letal. Otherwise 5 mana 5 to the face, no one expects that.
My 2 cents and i'll report if i have succes testing other options !
Hi,since the last fluctuations and buy-outs im a bit confused.
I have an italian tabernacle, that i want to sell locally, but (even searching on magic websites and dealers)there is too much variety on the prices (plus the "out of stock" that has lower prices or uncorrected, the boost that those webs usually put on older cards, or simply don't have italian tabern listed). Where do you search for a guide or starting point when valuing such cards as a tabernacle, or where would you go?
Thanks in advanced and any advice will be appreciated
Atarkas Command is so good in Burn because it can fight the opposing lifegain people are siding in while beeing flexible, using it as a straight burn or pump. But i dont think many people side in Lifegain vs RUG Monkey, and id say there are better pump spells... Have you tried the broadly accepted simic charm? He can also protect your guys, but then again i just came to see...your not playing Hooting Mandrills?
Yes, im playing monastery swiftspear over mandrills for more speed (Mandrills is awesome but for some reason im not sold yet on him). Atarka's command paired with monastery is awesome (pumping for 2 and dealing 3, or letting your goyf win against other goyf, rhinos and gunglar). Maybe it only happened to me but when y play the deck some ppl bring lifegain :/. Mm simic charm should be somewhere in the 75 i think. thx
Hi. i've been playing Igrow with a bit of success but I like to be more aggro. Since in my area (troubles with importers in argentina) there is almost nothing of origins here, i wanted to test atarka's command because of the synergy with the swift spear and it helps on tarmo's battles (it also performed well in my testing against grishoalbrand). Sadly i only own 1 blood moon and no huntmasters. I'll be playing a pptq tomorrow so any feedback is appreciated. Below is my list. keep the aberrations up & beating
Changing the topic - if elves with Glimpse of Nature would be one of the most broken decks in modern, why elves is like tier 100 with access to Beck? Not having to splash a color and costing less makes Glimpse certainly better, but it's not a difference that makes a deck jump 99 tiers up.
Also, when speaking about Elves with Glimpse, one thing that gets brought all the time is "consistent T3 kill". Can please someone tell me how that T3 kill would be executed? I honestly don't know.
To kill on t3 you only need a glimpse, 2 nettle sentinel and 1 heritage druid: YOu tap to add 3, cast a green elf, untap nettle, draw, then tap the nettles and your new guy, repeat, get mana, cast Craterhoof Behemoth for the win. It can be done also t2 but it would be a lot harder (it isn't common even in legacy to kill t2).
Idk if it would be super consistent because you don't have wirewood symbiote to keep chaining and your quirion ranger isn't an elf in modern and costs 1 more ( scryb ranger) plus you don't have green sun zenith to search the pieces of the combo (pact and chord are too unsafe/cost more to be fast enough)
Im also on the train of BBE and AV unbanned :D. Maybe GGT too.
Hi Guys. First of all i have a buddy from who i can borrow almost any deck to play with for a pptq. In my area there is a lot of abzan and mardu but also a lot of RDW. I don't have a lot of info on the meta right now. Is there any deck that has a good MU against abzan and mardu aggro/midrange?
Personally, I LOVE Pridemage because he singlehandedly gives us a better matchup G1 against Twin and Pod, which are two of my least favorite decks to play against, and to a lesser extent Affinity as well. I'm not as much a fan of Scooze, I'm running two in my more midrangey Naya list, but only because Living End is decently popular in my meta. If Burn is something you're seeing a lot of, I'd recommend running something like Kitchen Finks in your sideboard or main, or, if that's too high on the curve, more Lightning Helixes. I don't have a ton of experience with burn, but it seems to me that with the Leylines in your sideboard and a bit of lifegain, you should be able to outpace their burn spells.
Loam lion. Thats a creature you wanna add. Its better than vex, least in one drop zoo. Otherwise you want to go more gruul and use burning trees. Qasali isnt "too slow" because it still lets you swing for 3 damage on turn to with e one. He also gives you outs against alot of decks, which is why i run it. Ooze is too slow in 1 drop zoos. Also, smiter is not good vs jund. Ive explained why in detail before... But the giest is this, the discard doesnt make a difference. They will always see it with their siezes, and lili will always sac critters vs us, not discard. Voic would even be better truthfully. Vines of vastwood is better side stuffs.
Thanks to both. I (belive) see clearly now or at least in the right direction haha. Vexing devil is only there to pump e1 to 4 but maybe a playset is too much for it. Ill try with 2 loam/2 vexing first and see how it works. Qasali now are in and smiters were replaced with spellskite
The deck now looks like this:
Hi to everyone. Im a new zoo player (I always loved the nacatl but couldn't play something zooish due to fetches and goyfs). I have a tourney the next saturday and im willing to play a 1 Drop turbo Zoo (cause I still don't own any tarmos), after some testing against the wall i came up with the following:
Since im expecting burn and BGx should i play with 2 scavenging on the main or put them in the side? i still have 3 slots but im not sure on the smiter either. Maybe some 2x1 red removals ala forked bolt or arc trail? is qasali too slow for what am i aiming?
Hi, first of all this is my first post on modern i think and (i'm sure) my first on burn. I have read a lot of the pages and brought, piece a piece, a boros deck. The thing is that i have a "somewhat" big tourney (70/80 persons) this saturday and the sideboard is giving me headaches. i'm expecting a lot of pod, affinity and twin (u/r and rug) but idk if i should take out something for cards like torpor orb. So this is my main and board:
Any suggestion or comment is highly appreciated. (In a long run i want to get fetches and make the deck dega to include bumps and rain of gore in the side :P)
