I like him. The wipe is great with sliver queen tokens and the ult can be popped straight up with doubling season. Value town with rings. It has more utility than omniscience if you can ult him.
Diamond Valley is amazing in many builds. I see people playing High Market all the time yet I feel Diamond Valley is superior in many builds, especially in decks with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.
I don't think Mishra's Workshop need any explanation.
I played The Abyss two or three times since I bought it and so far it has been alright. It really depends on your meta. If you play against token decks then its a dead card most of the time. It shines against voltron until they get hexproof/shroud. It is blank against Sharuum.
As for what I would cut for it, I think I'd cut Garruk, Primal Hunter before Garruk, Apex Predator as often times GPH does absolutely nothing on a clean board state OR I cannot cast him at all due to GGG.
Oh wow that is interesting I did not see it that way at all. I thought the -2/-2 was a lasting effect until EoT. Fair enough, I still lost that game so I don't feel too bad
-He draws four cards due to Avenger being a 3/3 and PSZ resolves as a 2/2 and gets 3 counters
-He draws two cards due to Avenger being a 3/3 and PSZ resolves as a 2/2 and gets 3 counters
-PSZ dies before her trigger resolves and he draws no cards
The way we resolved it is the second one due to the fact that she enters with the counter and draws as a trigger.
Hey Trav_Ragnar. In your OP there are a few cards that I consider missing from your analysis.
Counterflux The uncounterable clause is super relevant in my meta and has saved my butt quite a few times over pact of negation which I cut since then. Rout Can be quite good for the instant speed sometimes. I'm testing it right now and it helped a lot again the good old Avenger EoT + Cratehoof I win. (Decree of Pain can also help) Price of Glory I will be testing that card soon as my meta is mostly blue decks right now. It is getting hard playing around all the countermagic. I think this is much better than Defense Grid especially as we run Crucible of Worlds.
Sounds weird that you use money as an argument as I find this deck quite expensive to build. I see Doubling Season as a win cond. I could see replacing it with cards like obliterate or omniscience but I don't like cutting it for anything else.
Hey Temporal_Archmage, I was looking at your list and I noticed that you don't run typical green ramp spells. How does the deck play without those? I've played maybe a dozen games with my list and they have been useful overall except for a couple of dead draws lategame. Perhaps avoiding explosive starts is better as you avoid playing archenemy?
Yesterday we had an interesting EDH game where someone cast Bribery on a creature, and later on in the game, that creature got Ray of Command. Now the question is, who gets the control of the creature after Ray of Command gives it back?
UG is easy mode. I'm not sure that the fix is to ban Prophet but I'm having a hard time fighting these decks. Unanswered prophet IS gg more often than not.
Question for you two! I am almost done building the deck so I have no experience playtesting it right now. I can only evaluate cards based on assumptions.
Have you seen this guy? He seems OK at first but he could be good if life loss is really an issue. He seems redundant with Garruk Apex in that he gains life, makes tokens but has a better emblem. I really don't like the fact that he can not be ult right away with doubling season. Do you think he is good enough to get a spot in the deck?
Ob nixilis has been amazing with marchesa in grixis but in mono B I am not sure he's great. He either grows very fast or dies very fast and only delays tutors for a couple of turns.

Thanks!
Here's the scenario:
-It is my opponent's turn and he has Avenger of Zendikar resolved with a couple of plants.
-He plays his commander (Prime Speaker Zegana)
-In response of the cast, I cycle Decree of Pain
Which one of these three outcome will happen?
-He draws four cards due to Avenger being a 3/3 and PSZ resolves as a 2/2 and gets 3 counters
-He draws two cards due to Avenger being a 3/3 and PSZ resolves as a 2/2 and gets 3 counters
-PSZ dies before her trigger resolves and he draws no cards
