    Those are some great points.
We do want to switch control of everything except turn order.
We dont want people to be able to counter the effect or anything like that.
Unfortunately we do want it to take effect before the untap step.

Here is what we want it to do in plain english:

"Immediately before their turn, up to three times per game, each player may Soulforge.

Soulforge: Switch game states with a player for three turns, then switch back for one turn, not counting extra turns. During this time No player my Soulforge. "

Any idea how we can write the rule with those features?

    Thanks so much!

Im sorry if this question is not allowed but Im not sure where else to ask.

My friends and I have a house rule that we like to use. Its very simple, but we would like help writing it in formal language.

We call it soulforge. Each player can soulforge up to three times per game.

In english soulforge means: at the start of your turn you may exchange control of all cards with any player until the end of your next turn.

Its very simple, but were having trouble writing the actual rule.

    We have some cornor cases:
    * "all cards" means hand, library, graveyard, board, litterally every card.
    * we dont want other people to soulforge until after the first soulforge wears off.
    * we dont want extra turns to expire the soulforge sooner.
    * we want people to be able to soulforge themselves if they want to prevent their next turn from being soulforged away by someone else.

    Heres our best attempt:

Soulforge: At the start of your turn, if no player has a Soulforge Emblem, you may choose a player. If you do, you and that player exchange control of all cards; at the beginning of your next turn you get a Soulforge emblem with
"At the end of your turn, if the next turn is not your turn, return all cards exchanged by Soulforge to their owners and destroy this Emblem."

Most importantly, does the rule work the way we want it to?
Secondly, can anyone rewrite it to make it simpler?

    Thanks!

  • posted a message on Glacial chasm upkeep trigger?
So i read that you cant change glacial chasm to an island using mystic compas to prevent having to pay life from the commulative upkeep.

My question is why? Does the upkeep trigger go on the stack before the upkeep even starts and this can not be responded to?
Or is it illegal to activate abilities during upkeeps?

What happens when someone taps down my mirror universe during mu upkeep? Can i respond by activating it?

  • posted a message on Clear matte (non-shiny) sleeves?
I'm looking for clear matte (sometimes called double matt) sleeves.

Ideally I'd like the KMC Hyper Mat Premium in a clear color instead of black.

The regular (non premium) KMC Hyper Mat sleeves are too shiny for me.
The name is extremely misleading. Esp since retailers often confuse the word Mat for Matte.

I don't want ultra pro because I hate the little logo they put on the front.

    Do such sleeves exist?

    Thanks!

  • posted a message on Hazazon Tamar and Safe Haven
lets say I have Hazezon Tamar and safe haven in play. On the upkeep after I play Hazazon his sand warriors ability triggers. In response to the trigger I activate the safe haven and exile Hazazon. Then the sand warriors come into play. Then before the upkeep ends I sacrifice the safe haven to put Hazazon back into play.
First question is: is the above legal?
Second question is: if it is legal, then will the second wave of sand warriors come down during the upkeep in which the safe haven was sacrificed or the upkeep after?

    Thanks!

I would like a black border tidings from Starter 1999. I noticed on Gatherer it is shown as being black border, but when I ordered one from eBay it arrived as white border.
Did Wizards make a mistake? Are there really black border starter tidings? How can I get one? Thanks!

  • posted a message on 1994 or earlier EDH Deck
I'm building an EDH deck with only cards that were printed on or before 1994. So I'm only allowing myself to use cards from
The old core sets (Revised etc), antiquities, legends, the dark, arabian nights, and fallen empires.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with Hazezon Tamar as my general.

Use land tax, sol ring, untamed wilds, birds of paradise for ramp.
Include every on color card that lets me draw cards, like book of Rass, Wheel of fortune even knowledge vault.
I'm thinking my plan will be to stall with things like Island Sanctuary, Smoke, Arboria, and Meek Stone, caverns of despair .
Include other staples like swords to plowshares wrath of god, nevinyrral's disk

I'm wondering if I should include basalt monolith or mana vault?
Also, I'm not really sure what my win condition should be. I was thinking I would burn people out with fireball and earthquake, hurricane, fork etc.
Anyway, can you guys recommend any powerful ideas?
I'm thinking I might even main deck tsunami to ensure that my fireballs dont get countered.

    Choose a converted mana cost.
Ending with you each player guess the number of cards with that converted mana cost in all player's hands.
Each player reveals their hands. Each player without the closest guess loses 5 life. You gain 10 life.

I wanted to make a card that is based around Liars Dice that was played in Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
I love the idea of bluffing and skill based cards. Hopefully Wizzards can make some cards like this.
