Emporer: casts martial coup (x was 5+)
Assassin1: casts rewind target's Martail coup
Guard: casts mystic snake
Assasin2 (me): casts reiterate no buy back, targeting rewind
Guard: casts Plasm Capture
Assasin2 (me): "wait what are you targeting?"
Guard: "you did not buy back your reiterate right?"
Assasin2 (me): "Nope"
Guard: "I guess next highest is rewind. Plasma Capture targeting rewind
All three of my black decks run exsanguinate. so I will give you the more practical ones I have, and try to expand on the ones already mentioned.
sine you want Grixis:
First off though are you set on fireball?
Exanguinate not only kills it keeps you alive.
In this situation comet storm is much better.
my decks that can pull off a good X spell:
Black red:
-
. (Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth helps)
-Copy spell effects many...
-doubling cube
-(not my deck, but I saw a B/R do this) Mana Geyser, Recoup, 6 man game, lots of mana
Black white:
-ashnod's altarnim deathmantle, in addition to things that make enough tokens to infinite, keep in mind Mikaeus, the Unhallowed gives you one more sac, so any thing making 1 token now works too. puppeteer clique also works, as it grabs you one creature, persists, grabs a creature, final sac, (4 in total).
you can also have something that generates only 1 other token and infinite sac and bring back, not netting anything but: the loop on it's own can cause triggers such as blood artist, and black market.
Also creatures that generate mana upon ETB or death ex: Su-Chi, Cathodion, Priest of Gix
Green Black (leaving out the green options as that is irrelevant)
I see what you mean. It isn't a good option in a fast game, but a slow game I think it is still viable.
because:

I understand this may vary by meta, but I have found grave dependent general (especially with the release of Deretti) have become more commonplace. I have previously tried grave hate in my Drana deck but found it to be dead most of the time.Presently the only grave hate I run is Shred Memory as it doubles as a tutor. I find myself needing to run at least one more, but am unsure as to which is the best out of the following options I have considered:
~
These were the only ones I could think of. What are your experiences with them? Which do you think is most appropriate for a meta that has occasional graveyard abuse, but not necessarily every game? Right now I am leaning toward one of the artifact options or one of the voids.
~~~
So to summarize
-grave hate is occasionally dead, and finding cards that won't be dead
-cards that do more than just grave hate
-our experiences
Rise is slow, but if you have 9 mana, unless all grave's (including your own) are void of creatures it should get you something. (Phage to be taken into consideration). It also doesn't just grave hate, as that is an incidental effect.
As for our experiences? (mine)In 6+ person games of EDH enough politics are involved that a long game where people are hitting over 9 mana is perfectle viable, now I am not saying all your cards should be high costed, but you can afford a few.
My guess is that they see the word `Swamp` and thus immediately associate it with it being black, or 'plains' denoting white. Hence them not appearing. You could technically run Verdant Catacombs in this deck, it just wouldn't do anything.
It's also missing Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth which is also allowed, which reinforces my point.
Maybe, but it is still missing:
terminal moraine
No mention of specific land types, but it does mention basic lands?
Lithl:
Sorry I am ESL, what word should I have used to distinguish between:
-I stop you from using, it in response to spell X.
VS
-I take it all, can you respond?
Let me know thanks!
BlackVise:
in multiplayer edh?
I usually hit at least 9 mana (especially with every black mage's favourite lands :))
the reason this format exists is also speed things up slightly.
Yes there are still politics.
but there is no longer the whole:
A: hmm who do I attack with my 1/1 wood elves?
B: Not me I did nothing to you! and I died first last game
C: I have a merfolk looter to block with.
A: you would not block with a looter would you
C: maybe, maybe not
D: Well I am playing black, red, white, so I have all the low costed removal...
A: would you really use up a removal spell on a 1/1?
D: creature type might matter.
B: attack E, E won last game
E: But I play 3 colours and have access to only 1 right now
A: okay I will just roll a die and see who I attack.
This is cut out.
Saving time.
instead you have:
A: why did you attack me I'm the emperor! oh...
I see how it is...
B: *snickers*
I would like to see one of those.
but for now:
terminal moraine
Stack looks like this:
Martial coup rewind mystic snake reiterate plasm capture
Stack after Plasma capture resolves (countering rewind):
Martial coup mystic snake reiterate
Stack once Reiterate fizzles due to it's target no longer being there:
Martial coup mystic snake
Stack once mystic snake resolves and there is only one spell left on stack to counter:
Martial coup
Guard counters the emporer's martial coup.
Silly rabbit mind tricks are for Jedi's (and Sith :K)
If you feel GY hate is dead often you can
~
I think you misunderstand my post slightly, it's not that I feel grave hate is often dead.
That was my summary of what the OP said.
plays I have done:
-use cabal coffers, then strip mine, then play crucible of worlds and reuse cabal coffers.
-similar play, use doubling cube, beast within doubling cube, beacon of unrest, target doubling cube, double yet again.
-insidious dreams, stacking the deck with wheel of fortune, cabal coffers, Exanguinate, doubling cube, reverberate
-praetor's grasp taking a doubling cube from another deck, then proceeding to use 2 doubling cubes. (you can do this too, but since you have blue you can also use
is there a term to distinguish between
Rise of the dark realms
VS
a card like:
Ravenous Trap
?
one is directly in response to an action, but dark realms can be used even if they have no grave yard, because you can still get your own stuff back.
Utility maybe?
Wait I know flexible.
have you considered artifacts that increase toughness significantly?
It will mean that a tap down spell doesn't out right kill him.
Slagwurm Armor
a suggestion I give to people playing Doran.
downhill charge
also a nice card that *kinda* doubles his power
Every time he dies be sure to say:
My rage will live on!
are you sure that's all the lands?
I searched panorama and nothing came up :S
