Stunning Growth into Splendid Reclamation has me wondering again if the translations here are truly correct. I thank all of you for the translations but you can see why I keep having doubt. Those two card names aren't even close. Frown

I provided a much more accurate name translation above "Magnificent Rebirth". Besides "anata no" (why won't it let me type Japanese?) meaning your is something you would learn in the first week of a Japanese class. It is your graveyard. The initial translation was unbelievably bad, but that is the only one that doesn't think it means your graveyard.

The card text translation seems accurate but the title is off. It is something like "Magnificent Rebirth" and "growth" is definitely not right. Since it literally says "again life".

I was on Junk Nic-Fit and went 6-3 as well.

Round 1 Lost to Shardless BUG
    Round 2 Beat Shardless BUG
    Round 3 Beat Team America
    Round 4 Beat Merfolk
    Round 5 Beat BUG Delver
    Round 6 Beat Miracles
    Round 7 Lost to Miracles
    Round 8 Beat Maverick
Round 9 Lost to Death and Taxes

I have to say Siege Rhino is amazing. I also ran 4 Top and don't know why anyone would run 3. It's too good.

Meren of Clan Nel Toth appears to be a great fit for Nic Fit.

I play in proxy tournaments sometimes and it doesn't bother me even though I own the cards. I hope counterfeits eventually do take over. Wizards created artificial scarcity for these cards. There is nothing moral about supporting the secondary market and I play the game to play. I wouldn't care at all if it turned out all my opponent's cards are fake and I hope it does get to that point that no one could tell anyway. Wizards made their bed, they can sleep in it.

Great points! Thanks for your articulated responses.

Let me emphasize something again: I was previously buying standard cards and playing in standard events while I found the card design appealing. That hasn't been the case and has increasingly been the case since Time Spiral. These are all post-reserved list sets. I find that the WotC philosophy on set design that says Magic has to be different from sets from that era to be dissappointing and the reason I'm not buying sealed product anymore.

I think everything you've said as your reasons why are likely true, but I think WotC is making a mistake. They COULD be earning my long-time customer dollars but they've decided it's not in their best interest.

As much as I agree with the sentiment in your post, the bolded part is something I often see people say in a variety of settings and is rarely true. Yes it would be ideal if WotC appealed to both eternal format players and the masses of standard players, but in terms of actual financial interests there just isn't much of one. They make far more money off of the rotating, play it for a year or so then drop it, group then they do off long-term players. We really aren't the target market and it doesn't make sense for them to try to make us the target market.

Food Chain is the combo they're referencing. It doesn't work because it's an activated ability and Food Chain mana can only be used to cast creatures. You aren't casting this card from exile, you're putting it on the battlefield with an activated ability.

I have played all of those decks and I personally enjoy Nic Fit the most and think it's the best overall. That said it has a lot of variants that can have sometimes very different gameplans. Pox and Stax have variants as well, but with Nic Fit I feel there is a lot more flexibility. It just doesn't really have a prototypical list outside Veteran Explorer and Cabal Therapy. You can splash White, Red, Blue, or neither and even after splashing you have a lot of flexibility.

It's definitely one of the more entertaining decks to play for both you and your opponent (unlike Pox and Stax which just make someone cry or don't work).

If you must have just B/G I think Loam Pox and Nic Fit are your best bets. Though Nic Fit is much better if you splash a third color with Blue, White, and Red all having their advantages and disadvantages.

I think he is probably overcosted so I don't think he'll make a big splash. I am very excited about Titania, Protector of Argoth though. Yes she costs too much to put in anything other than Lands or NicFit (especially Scapeshift version), but in those decks she rewards you immensely for doing what you were already going to do.

If you play Junk Fit Anafenza the Foremost represents Green Sun fetchable grave hate that won't wreck your own deck. It only hits creatures, but that hurts a lot of the grave decks you would be up against.

So proxy tournaments happen and are attended, but they can't be official. I personal enjoy playing in proxy tournaments even though I have none and own the majority of Legacy staples (at least enough to make all the decks I want to play) and an excess of certain reserve list cards. I really wouldn't care if my collection became worthless though, because I'm not a collector. I didn't get into this for the money. I just like playing Legacy. Only format I really enjoy. So proxy tournaments are fun, but there is always the issue of them not being allowed to be sanctioned and I think it's a legitimate one. Despite Wizards showing the minimum amount of support to Legacy there is still an appeal to being sanctioned.

He's just not very good. He isn't good enough to want to build a deck around or good enough to fit in any current decks. It's too bad he isn't Modern legal, he just has no home outside of EDH.

Let's let time figure this one out. People will definitely be trying this card at SCG Opens and smaller tournaments so let's see how it works out in practice. I really don't think it's going to be what Pox wants, but maybe there is a reworking of the deck that can make good use of it.

Getting rid of Crypt Rats and Consume Spirit and replacing them with anything will make your deck better. Hymn is good even against non-combo decks. If you want a cheap (both in game and in real life) discard spell with versatility (can also be used as removal or an aggro tool) check out Funeral Charm. Otherwise more copies of the other good cards in your deck will also help.
