Is SCG getting out of the misprints & rarities market? I noticed that they recently ebayed off almost all the misprints & rarities they had that were worth something.
Hey there:
Not at all! We're just looking to cycle out the rarities/misprints we have on our website on an annual basis, to keep the rarities/misprints section fresh on our website. I'd expect to see a ton more rarities/misprints going up around February/March, and then get added monthly through December of next year!
It's now May, and I haven't seen any new rarities/misprints added to SCG yet this year. Is there still any plan to start adding them again?
I'm tempted to make an offer for it, but it's also very possible that when they do release the set, they'll have Magister (with the star symbol) as some kind of prerelease promo, and then the only difference between this Magister and the prerelease Magister will be the phone number stamp on the back (which can easily be faked)

You can consider any criteria you want, e.g., how powerful it is, how good the art is, how much nostalgia the card has for you. For this poll, Changelings and Mutavault don't count as angels.
Pimp to me making your deck into an extension of you. Making it a labor of love. To me, foiling out your standard deck isn't pimp. An internet connection and a debit/credit card will get you your whole deck pimped. It didn't take time to collect, or effort to acquire.
Foiling out your EDH? Often pimp. A lot of EDH staples are hard to find, or expensive to buy if you can find them, so it takes a little effort to foil most EDH decks. Foreign foils? Even more pimp.
Altered? Definitely pimp. Altered yourself? Even more pimp.
To me putting that much effort into your deck tells me it isn't some deck you threw together on a whim. It tells me the deck has been important to you for a long time.
Even from the big dealers, cards are "Near Mint", not "Mint".
For expensive cards, ABU often has large scans of the cards on their website, but even then there are some things that scans don't do a good job picking up (e.g., foil warping, and horizontal lines on the back of unlimited cards).
If you need your cards to be MINT, maybe you're better off just buying cards that have been graded to be MINT. You can find BGS graded cards on SCG, ABU, and eBay.

By that argument, aren't all collectible items bubbles?
The counterfeit problem is pretty scary, I hope someone thinks of a good solution and things don't turn out like they did in Chas's article.

I like this answer.

For the collectors here, what do you collect?
